I just found this channel and the quality of these videos are absolutely nuts. So many other drawing videos on yt are either extremely vague or take a unnecessary amount of time to just get to the darn point. I believe that drawing and any skill is anyone can learn, but what's making it difficult is people are not teaching is correctly, maybe due to not knowing how to teach, or more frustratingly due to their own egos. You've taken a concept and presented it as it is. It sucks that no one is seeing these videos, but this channel is one I would recommend to any future artists i meet in my life who wants to learn more about drawing. Thanks for your contrabutions.

Fantastic videos thank you!! I look forward to watching them all!! Any tips on drawing tube slides etc for a children's play area/ waterpark? I was wondering about using the 2 point perspective grid in procreate along with taking some reference photos of lego at the same angle (Might be tricky!) Maybe even draw the horizon line on a sheet of paper behind the lego to get the right angle perhaps? I have tried using simple isometric cylinders as an easier way to draw them but then it's quite limiting on the angle of the scene. (I also think I might re-watch your video on ellipses in perspective, it just seems to mega complicated when the cylinders are curved like macaroni!) Many thanks

Oh man, that’s a complex perspective problem. You have to keep choosing new vps as the slide move around in space. I would build it in angles and the. Try to curve them later. Good luck!

An arch is far from simple if you want it to be correct in perspective. You can of course eyeball things to look mostly correct. However that is more difficult for beginners who don’t know what “correct” looks like. Also, if you want it to be a true ellipse in a specific view point you will need to do some good old fashioned construction. The more proficient you get the more likely you will be to “eyeball” it and get it mostly correct.

I still don't understand how to draw major and minor axes. Is that connecting half point of the perspective rectangle's horizontal sides to form the major axis and make a 90-degree line on the point where the major and center horizontal line meet to form the minor axis?

I’m not sure I understand your question, but ellipses are a tough thing to get. I have two other videos on them that go in depth that may answer the question.

There is a complex way to do this exactly, which would be to draw the ellipse in the middle and divide it up to get exactly radiating lines. This is a task in and of its self, so to simplify the video, I “eyeballed” the right side lies and then found their corresponding left side lines by tracking to the vanishing point.

My schedule changed which gave me far less time in my week and it takes me a long time to make each video. And since the channel doesn’t add to my financial well being, I’ve had to pause video production until something changes :) I started a Patreon for my handouts, that’s all I can manage right now.

draws 5000 lines then draws the arch somewhere around the intersections and says look what looks right. ffs if i knew what was right i wouldnt draw lines

The part you are referencing where I draw the division of the stones for the arch does not have an exact angle. These could be slightly different and still appear correct. The important part is that they are the same on each side which is why we track the lines to the opposite side to match. There are of course other perspective techniques to divide an ellipse into even segments, so that may be a topic for a future video.

... Okay, this is total BS. These are the best tutorial videos I have ever seen on RU-vid, and they're only getting a couple hundred views on average? The algorithm is stupid. It pushes meaningless, stupid crap to the front, and doesn't even notify me when one of my subscribed channels makes a new video. "To get popular, you have to already be popular." God..... .... Sorry, I just couldn't hold that in. These really are the best tutorial vids I've seen on the subject of perspective. I hope you do one on shadows as well, and don't stop posting!
