Amazing video. I especially appreciated the "before drawings" it was a very intimate look into what work goes into discovering the right angle before you flesh it out. I think this video relates to storyboarding so much. You throw out so many versions before you find the one that feels right. Excellent. Please keep it coming!
most of the time, i would only draw 1 character in a paper and never draw one again; cuz it's a struggle, the scene would just get ruined. the 'draw head from the horizon' is style of drawing changing. drawing characters face to face has honestly never been so exciting. so thank you very much for the very helpful advice! ^^^^^ (it doesn't hurt for me to say nice things for ppl in the internet who helped.)
First time I've felt compelled to comment on anything on RU-vid. Your videos have a been a great help to me. You have a real gift for explaining things as well as drawing. I think you definitively do more of the videos you talked about in this one.
Thank you really thank you for this video. You really helped me I have always got problems with horizont line and perspective, now i can draw scenes from my imagination.
+johnny klein No, Musashi used two swords. There are three typical samurai blades* known as; Katana, wakazashi and tanto. Katana is the longest, a wakazashi is a side seated short sword and the tanto is the shortest blade, much closer to the length of a dagger instead of a sword. Musashi wielded a Katana and a wakazashi, but the 60 duels wasn't always with two blades. He simply realized that the two sword technique was superior. People can argue all they want about the one-sword vs two sword deal. But in Japanese duels Musashi was unparalleled and his technique spoke for itself. He defeated two-handed, one handed swords and "lance" weapons alike. Of course, we can always speculate if it would have worked just as well against other cultures. But we can never actually know the level of skill people like him processed. Vikings where known for their shields, but it wasn't uncommon for a viking to use two weapons as well. Everyone think they were barbarians, but they were much more than what old English propaganda let on. They bathed more than the British men and they smelled nice too. I digress, I have a thing for history. It's a bit of a problem.
I would like to see more of this. It's so much more helpful than the lessons I took in college. If you do any color work, I'd like to see that too. And folds, that'd help a lot.
This is extremely helpful, You explain things really well (unlike some other guys). Can't wait to see what you'll put out next. Could you do a video on background perspectives related to the character's perspective? I think that'd help.
Mike your great )))) I am using your lesson to build characters with working draft horses - and it works! Your a great teacher, Thank you )))) Спасибо )))
Very good, this is one of my problems, thx for sharing the video. 1 or 2 swords just depends on the skill that the fighter have i think, but i think that having a character with a giant sword is the coolest thing ever :P
could u make a video on how to make the colours of the characters and the background look different (so that the background isnt distracting, and people focus more on whats going on with the character)
mmm idk bout that he may be cool, but there are some really awesome characters, idk in coolness IMO hes tied with Sora from No Game No Life. and then Asuna, Shiro, and Baby Beel have a 3 way tie in cuteness.
The good thing in digital is u dont have to erase anything if you want to move your character to the left a little bit :P you can just select him and move him to the left
could you please do a totoral on sword perspective? like lets say you have the hero pointing his sword towards you the sword appears close to you as the heros standing farther away?
This helped me so much~! Thanks alot =) but i have got a qeustion: 1st. Can i use this scene in my manga? 2nd. How big is the black box you used to draw the scene in? Thanks,
What paper are you using? And also what are the mesuments of the box you draw in? I try to draw do this but i cant do it well becuase i dont know what size i should draw it.
If there are 2 men standing next to each other and one is much taller than the other, you would draw both of their feet at roughly the same level, but make one person's proportions a little larger. This often occurs when you draw a woman standing next to a man or a child next to an adult.
I'd like to say 2 because of elegance but in a fight it would be 1 because it's harder to swing around 2 swords now Zorro from one piece is great with 3 its cool but I'd never risk that
I know this video is crazy old, but you were one of my inspirations to start drawing (back in 2012!) Without your videos, I wouldn't be at the point where I am today. Thank you so much!!
I love your tutorials! They are so informative. Your staging and poses are so strong that the unfinished sketches look good. I never put much thought into staging and poses. Thanks for the help.
Yes! More perspective videos please! This one was awesome and I'd love to see more. I've watched lots of drawing videos and took painting and drawing last year in high school and I have never heard of putting heads on the horizon line. It made your scene feel very appealing to look at and not awkward like mine tend to come out. That tip will definitely come in handy in my drawings!
