Step-by-Step Instructions:
Step 1: Gather Your Materials
Pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B)
Eraser
Blending stump or cotton swabs
Drawing paper
Step 2: Outline the Horizon and Lake
Draw a horizontal line across the middle of your paper for the horizon.
Sketch the outlines of the lake and the surrounding hills.
Step 3: Draw the Dock and Trees
Draw the dock extending into the lake with perspective lines.
Add the outlines of trees on either side of the dock to frame the scene.
Step 4: Add the Setting Sun and Birds
Sketch a large, setting sun on the horizon line.
Add birds flying in the sky to give life to the scene.
Step 5: Detail the Dock and Vegetation
Add details to the dock, including railings and wooden planks.
Sketch grass and small bushes around the base of the dock.
Step 6: Shade the Sky and Water
Use an HB pencil to lightly shade the sky around the sun. Blend with a blending stump for a smooth gradient.
Darken the water with horizontal strokes to create reflections and ripples.
Step 7: Shade the Trees and Dock
Use a 2B pencil to add shading to the trees and dock, creating depth and texture.
Darken the dock and add details to enhance its appearance.
Step 8: Final Touches
Use a 4B or 6B pencil for the final touches, adding dark shadows and refining details.
Erase any unnecessary lines and clean up your sketch.
