Why don't you find the centre through the diagonals? Instead you identify the centre by feeling. In the first figure you get it right while in the second horizontal figure the centre is translated.
Hi Philics, sometimes we take shortcuts when we draw. It is true that the feeling plays a role in drawing, more and more with experience and practice of the basics.

+Zoe Doucette It goes through the center of the ellipse. However, it doesn't go through the center of the circle in perspective as you can see at 1:30.
