Hello Dr. Draw. I'm from Colombia, however, I watch your videos with the terrible subtitles of youtube to understand your videos and some things complement with the translator. The truth is you are a total genius, I've been trying to understand the space, the form, the composition and others as kim jung gi did and I can say that thanks to you has been a before and after in that process, I've seen all your videos and the truth here is pure gold Remember what happens to Saitama when he wants to enter the society of heroes? Well something similar happens with you, you don't have enough subscribers for what you are able to achieve and teach, because you are a very valuable but hidden hero haha (you are also bald like saitma, by the way I am too xD) I want to thank you from the bottom of my heart and my art for what you do for all of us. I will try to buy the Patreon and go beyond what is free so far on your channel.
Oh my this is the sweetest comment I've read in a long time! Thanks for letting me know that's really encouraging. I've never been compared to Saitama but I'm deeply honoured haha. Also thanks for letting me know about the terrible subtitles. Once I get a better (consistent) income from RU-vid I will definetly get a Spanish translation. It's on my list. But first I need to build a great foundation. You probably understand. And last but not least: Thank you for sharing your thoughts and feelings! Keep it up.
Yo bro! Dr. Draw Did helped me too..and I'm pretty sure you're gonna love the following artists below: Scott robertson, krenz cushart moderndayjames yu cheng hong charles lin marshall vandruff and they all have their own gumroad tutorials and courses, except for marshall, but he has perspective course in his website.. hope this helps, enjoy!
Oh! A fellow countryman! I’ve just found out about this channel as well and I’ve thought it to be absolutely delightful! This is what the art community needs!
Dude I cannot believe how much of a breakthrough just laying eyes on your simplified headshape was for me, didn't even need a further explanation really and I've heard simplify things down to shapes so many times but never really internalized how powerful it was. I'm not great at perspective or anatomy but being able to scribble guidelines of where that sort of headshape is basically sets me up everytime for a pretty solid looking head. Great tutorial!
This is the first video tutorial I’ve seen that was simple enough for me to understand. I’m a complete beginner, and I have a hard time understanding tutorials because many are way too complex for me. I’m surprised this channel gets such little attention, because you definitely deserve more! Thank you so much for making such a great video in a simple, understandable way! Keep it up!
out of all videos ive watched you have helped me lot i would watch videos that were 20 minutes long and still wouldnt get my head angles right, but now since i can simplify them I believe it would be less challenging and more easier
I'm kinda excited to finally get to anatomy, i've spent like 4 months learning the very basics about art (boxes, basic perspective, basic shading) and i don't have regrets about that.
The examples, metaphors and little animations you do in your videos help SO SO much, all tied together with simple, important information. Thank you so much on working so hard on these 🥺
Excellent content. This video is the best medicine for anyone feeling utterly daunted by learning the intricacies of facial anatomy. We just WANT TO DRAW ALREADY. The beginning made me LOL! and the brain ram image with flipping the learning process was awesome. Thank you very much.
I was so proud to understand the tutorial and to sketch in my sketchbook that I completely missed that one point of of the video where you said you have to make that knowledge take smaller space in your brain to take less space for more....and I jumped on the occasion to make a big piece for instagram , combining forshortening, face angle, HANDS, difficult pose perspective, and I master none of them....I felt so confuse and head back to the video again. I'm a frustrated artist who can't draw what he want at the first try, but I'll keep practicing. I'm confused but I got the spirit !
At the beginning of the video the anatomy thing was very deep haha but then when you started talking about the box to make a head... I mean, I saw that method before but I hadn't seen it explained so well, I understood the technique of the box like "a perfect symmetry in the face" but not now congratulations very good video greetings from Argentina.
I really admire your work. I used to watch your videos on Instagram. But I would like to see you more on this platform because I can't see the details like RU-vid allow us unlike Instagram. So I have to say thank you for all what you did at the moment for the community!
Mais um excelente vídeo haha, buscar a simplificação é essencial principalmente no começo desta longa jornada artística. Aprecio seus vídeos por você sempre priorizar a forma como a base do desenho. CAIXAS=VIDA.
I don't understand why you not so popular.I believe that after some you will be noticed by beginners and other and you will be become famous person in artists community. Please continue.
Ah thank you so much. Honestly I hear this a lot, I think it's because there's a lot of competition and I still need to figure out stuff. It will come! Thanks
Thanks for the video, the message hit me life a lightning bolt and realised I knew this for a while but didn't UNDERSTAND it I always struggled drawing the head after drawing the face features forgetting that it would be easier to go the other way around
just sat down and gave this a go. drawing the boxes in different perspective was fun. even more fun when you add flexi cylinder as a neck. so as a guide, for practice on daily or weekly basis, how many heads would you encourage a student to draw? by heads i mean boxes. I'm guessing will be a while before I can "draw a head" - eyes, nose, ears, smile and frown creases etc. thanks for the tutorial. this is fun
Good question! I'm a bit hesitant in giving you a number because it could be a 1000. But that will bore you the fuck out in a while. Just always try to go back to the box. And when you feel like it get's easy, take a step further and experiment.
Dr. Draw & Tom Fox are like Kim Jung Gi but Western edition. I also notice that korean anatomy books tackle anatomy with simple forms, while western anatomy books are very complex.
Are those heads from the example drawn in 1,2,3,4 or five perspective points? I was actually strugglin today with this topic, was getting close to the answer but with this video I've just clarified what I needed, god job bro :) New sub
I think moest in 3 perspective. To understand this look at the boxes. If the angles are angled you'll see how many vanishing points are use. Good question though!
I'm kind of curious - how long do you think people should spend drawing boxes for, before the information becomes natural? Have you had people come back to you and say "oh I spent a week drawing boxes for 1 hour a day". I guess I am asking how long you think it takes people to commit something to memory (as an average)?
@@thedrDraw Really? Wouldn't horizontal, vertical and tertiary lines (to indicate the eyeline, noseline and where the ear/jaw would sit/connect) help with the perspective?
@@bettyp5669 Yeah I think that would help the most. A combination of both methods! I do something similar when drawing torsos and pelvis'. Box first so I know what angle the body is at, and then organic forms inside it. :D
