I’ve been making a lot of stays/“corset” style tops & I find that the extreme structure (extra points for a pinstripe or something along those lines) plus the softness of the neckline and the *girls* getting lift, really seems to compliment my FG.
No matter what style of dress I wear, it always fits a little wonky or doesn't look quite right. In the past, I always found myself gravitating toward separates more often because they fit better and allowed for more versatility. As a FG I know understand why my body looked better in separates as opposed to dresses.
After almost a year into my Kibbe journey and believing I was a Soft Natural, I decided to do a style consult with the two lovely ladies of Our Fashion Garden and they’ve typed me as a Flamboyant Gamine and now things make so much more sense! I’ve always gravitated to wearing separate, contrasting pieces, like a looser top with fitted bottoms or vice versa and I never understood why that looked and felt more harmonious for me than wearing a single long piece. Or, sometimes when I’d wear something more minimal I’d feel like I wasn’t as put together, like I needed more and there was just something off about it. Everything you said resonates with me, and I’m so excited to play with my style now!
Is that Zoe Kravitz?? ...nope it's Frani :) You look so stylish! I'd love if you could dive a bit deeper into FG vs. SG, with examples of styling that would suit each. I'm exploring SG outfits for myself and would love to hear your take.
Thanks to your videos, I went to try a pair of high waisted jeans in the store today, & I nearly cried! :) Wow I was so mistaken about my type (I was POSITIVE that I was a SN instead of a Liza Minelli type of FG) but I really understand my lines now, I'm so excited to develop my wardrobe now!
I’m FG and I look best in short fitted tops with high waisted WIDE leg pants reaching to the ground. I think this works specifically for me bc I have a LONG torso (aka low waist) and LONG arms, so the long pants help balance my orangutan arms lol. Otherwise with short pants, my long arms are highlighted in an unflattering way. Furthermore I look even better with rounded chunky platform shoes which flows with the “big” theme I’m going for in the bottom half of my outfit. It also further lengthens my legs, which once again helps balance out my legs (which are short relative to my torso and arms). It’s all about balancing my top and bottom half, which is so opposite! Does this make sense?
i've always been really into fashion, but i'm only really learning about kibbe types properly today. finding out i'm a flamboyant gamine and i've unintentionally been doing most of the things for my kibbe type is really fun and definitely giving me more faith in these methods.
All of my yin is located in my behind 😂 short, sharp, and fitted on top; bigger on the bottom is definitely my go to I love the way you’ve styled your hair in this video! Xo
Just jumped on the kibbe bandwagon and have spent the weekend just absolutely binging your content. I was pretty on the fence between being SN and FG, but after your videos I am very confident in being FG and excited to embrace it. So glad to have found you!!
As someone who is barely 5'2" and under 90 lbs....straight up and down, I've known for a while that I'm some type of gamine. I think I'm a flamboyant type. Interestingly, things I've just naturally not liked, or liked, makes sense with being a flamboyant gamine. I hate super tight clothing. It just bugs me. And dresses/skirts that are super long don't look good on me.
Do you mean long skirts/dresses? As a G/FG, I find that skirts that hit just above my ankles look really good, paired with something fitted on top. I've heard that SGs look good with waist emphasis so maybe you could try to incorporate that in your styling as well. Hope this is helpful!
I think "I" am flamboyant gamine... I think my daughter is SOFT gamine. She has a more "yin" face. Her body is like mine was at her age. Lol!... Iook like my dad, so more of a "yang" face now, at 52. Still have the same small, curvy rectangular figure, just heavier!! Side by side, you can tell that SHE looks more feminine. I look more tomboyish... 8 months later... I KNOW I'm flamboyant gamine. My daughter, I believe, could be soft natural, at this point.
Can you talk about how to work with being busty as a flamboyant gamine. My shape is quite similar to yours but even at my lowest weight I’m at least a D. I’m really struggling with what kinds of tops to wear.
I found out last week a flamboyant gamine, I thought I was a DC for two years. I’ve seen this video before, because I started to suspect last year that I’d been placed in the wrong category, but I didn’t dive deeper into it and kept thinking I was a DC. The thing is… I’m actually not petite at all. I’m 170 like Audrey Hepburn, but I’m also a little wider and ’bigger’ than most other gamines I’ve seen. You’re all so very small and petite and delicate, but I’m a little different. Well, I’m slim and I have all the attributes for an FG, but my dads genes 🧬 have given me a larger rib cage than most other FG’s, wider shoulders than other gamines, wider hands and fingers, even my knee joints and ancles are wider than most other gamines. Basically, my size is not petite, my size is ”average”. But I guess if you shrunk me about 5-10% I’d be more textbook gaminish. I’m just a little sized up. This means I’m quite uncomfortable in yang styling, because my body is already a little boyish or even manly, maybe even more so than most fg’s, and so I tend to look for more yin-inspired pieces while still staying within the FG appropriate lines. It seems that most FG’s can dress quite yang and still look delicate, but when I do the same, I almost get gender dysphoria because I feel like I start to go into the uncanney valley, almost looking like a boy altogether. Don’t get me wrong, I think the FG andogynous features look extremely cool - it’s just that I think I look too convincing 😂 I think I’d say that Kelly Osbourne has some features in common with me ?, but she’s softer over all. Does anyone else have this problem? Is this a thing? 😅
You are a DC. DC basically are FG moderated. And you are too tall, don't focus on exception, focus on the common types. DC and FG can be similar but you are too big for it,and,FG don't have wide ribcage.
A bit off topic but have you had a seasonal analysis done? You look great in black and seem like you might be true winter. I remember in a previous video you mentioned “muted” but I think you’re just a true season.
Some people that some to mind are Elana Kinda, Elyssa Aesthetic, Aly Art, Dearly Bethany. I think some of these women are soft gamine. Elyssa Aesthetic and Aly Art have some really good videos related to kibbie body types.Elana Kinda and Dearly Bethany do fashion videos. It's really interesting to see how they style their outfits. I hope this helps😁
Lily has worn this body snugging tops, bodysuits in so many places without adding extra element to make her shape look like a box and honestly she looks so stunning in those. I don't have a skinny waist like her but i am upset for not having the option to wear sexy.
I’m like 99 percent sure I’m a gamine but I’m so confused if I’m sg or fg I have a typical sg face but my body is not as yin as my face (Ik it’s a gamine thing lol but it’s hard) idk if I’m a fg with a sg face or a sg that’s just average height I’m 5’4-5’5 btw.
Haha I wondered the same but I think sg are slightly curvier and have softer flesh (e.g. if you're a person who work outs regularly, you may not see as much muscle definition) so now I'm stuck between G and FG.
It's all about how you style it and how you honor the yin/yang balance within your frame. Wearing cropped styles is an easy, no brainer way to dress for gamines, but if you put some extra thought into it, you can make longer Items work to honor the yang.
(I know it’s a year since your original comment, but fashions do keep coming back around. 😄) I find that long, flared jeans work if I wear them with heels and then a shorter shirt on top. That gives the imbalanced, broken line that suits the gamine body type.
Can I be a Flamboyant Gamine if I have an hourglass figure?? I'm very short but I have quite broad and angular sholders, large hands and arms but short and wide legs, large eyes, broad nose...I don't know
I have a hard time understanding if I'm a gamine or a dramatic classic, but all these outfits make me wanna be a gamine really badly ahahah: great vid!
I am so thankful for finding you, you break it down so well 🥹 I’ve struggled with understand my look all my life. Usually just wore whatever was passed down. When it way my turn to style myself I never new what to shop for 😭
