How To Dry Wet Boots Fast Tutorial

I use my low cost wet dry vacuum cleaner to dry out a soaking wet boot in half an hour. It’s important to take good care of your feet. You are on your feet all day long. Standing in wet boots all day long is bad for your feet. Increase your comfort level and dry the boots when possible.
I use a strong vacuum cleaner (at least 2 hp) to speed up the process. This technique uses high volume, high velocity warm air and a flexible hose to pipe air to the toe of the shoe. As the air exits the shoe, it dries all inside shoe material it touches. The cloth inside the shoe acts like a wick and facilitates rapid evaporation and drying as it comes in contact with the moving air.
These type of vacuum cleaners use a lot of power, but it’s worth the cost to have dry feet. A powerful motor needs lots of electricity.
I like to dry my boots outside for safety reasons and because the process tends to make my house smell like stinky boots. I monitor the drying process carefully and turn off the machine if there is any sign of a problem. This technique requires adult supervision. Be careful to keep the cords away from water in order to avoid the risk of electrical shock.

I don't know why but watching you spray your boots with a hose for 10 seconds was the funniest thing I've seen all week, It's a mixture of the silence and the camera panning.

Thanks, I tried this with a pair of waders that leaked using a small "shop vac " I had in the garage for cleaning the truck. Not quite as fast as a heated boot drier but it did the job. For the rare times my waders get a leak, it's nice to have a handy alternative that doesn't require another machine to store when not in use.

Worked!! Slicker then snot. This dried out inside of knee high rubber boots in 30 min each. Standard Boot dryer can take 4-6 hrs to dry pair of boots.

I'm delighted that it worked out for you. I used to work in a candy factory and my boots would get soaking wet every day. It is really uncomfortable to walk in wet boots all day. I didn't know how to dry the boots. I tried using the vacuum cleaner at home and it worked.

Great tip. I used this technique on a pair of neoprene wetsuit boots and 30 minutes later, they were "dry as a bone". And a lot less stinky. The wet/dry vacuum isnt used much - will probably get more use now. Thanks again, brilliant.

When I wash mine, I twist a couple of dry towels up and cram one in each boot, then a few hours later pull the wet towels out, then tie the boots sitting up on the heel in front of a heater and a fan blowing above it, a few feet away to avoid a fire. Takes longer though. Was looking for a better, faster process. I've considered maybe a dehumidifier with a timer switch to turn on and off to allow the water to cure it's way out so the leather doesn't crack up. Hair dryer sounds like a good idea, but they build up heat really quickly, not good to run them more than 10 minutes. This is cool, but too loud for my situation.

Yes, this is loud process. It's also a little bit stinky. I hope you find the right solution. Thanks for the comment.

an adjustable speed yard blower would likely also work. at least mine does. & yes, it's important to dry them quickly before mold sets in. i've also used a countertop convection oven.

I got went fishing last night and ended up in the water after crawfish. Figured they would mostly dry out over night. Nope, they smell bad and I had to go to work without them. I hope they aren’t molded when I get home.

A boot dryer that consumes 500 watts and sounds like an 200 decibel dentist drill. Now why didn't I think of that?

My son just started a job, that requires him to wear rubber boots. Poor thing was walking in wet boots and socks the next day. I googled ways to dry them and found your video. Thank you so much for posting this easy fix! He'll be going to work with dry feet tomorrow! And that makes a caring mother, very happy! 😊 Thank you again!

I'm glad the technique worked for you. I used to work in a factory and my feet got wet every day. It's no fun walking around in wet boots all day. I tried the vacuum cleaner technique when I got home and it worked. I was so happy. All the best!

Man I was like I need to dry these asap. Just basic wear wetnesses but had no boot dryer. I stuck them in the dryer on a rack but nope just warmed up the outside. Came here and bam 35 minutes both dry as a bone. Used Milwaukee portable vacuum. Ha takes one battery to get them dry.

I never treated them. Maybe they were treated at the factory before I bought them. They are really old safety rated electrician work boots.
