Using a leaf blower is a game changer. I use the ego blower with the car stubby and gets 95 percent of the water off then follow up with a drying towel. Great demo Matt keep the videos coming 👍🏻

THANK YOU David! Its encouragement like this that keeps me going! What EGO did you end up getting? I have had my eye on them for quite some time. Prior to the Ridgid, I was using a hand me down Black & Decker Leaf Blower it was ok but it is night and day with a high output leaf blower such as the Ridgid or the EGO.

@Life of a Matt The ego 765 version. The cost is higher but definitely worth it in the long run for sure. I even use it to blow snow off the truck in the winter

NICE! Yeah I have been looking at one too! When the time comes, you just helped me with my decision David!

The key is to have some type of paint protection on there. I use bead maker on my daily and it makes it easy to just blow the water right off. Great vid.

Thanks Z!! I love bead maker and yes it helps immensely; its on my shoot list in the coming weeks. I noted the ceramic coating in the video at the 11:23 mark too. Thanks again for the encouragement!

Another great, informative and entertaining video Matt. I am now 100% committed to washing / drying my Mustang EXACTLY as you did. I will also get the ceramic coating so drying with a blower makes perfect sense. Now, I just need the Mustang 😁. Thank you my friend! (appreciate you getting wet and blown dry…made me laugh)

Thanks Joe and Mission accomplished! I'm glad I got a laugh out of you! I love doing these type of fun intros too. The Ceramic coating makes it so much easier to wash and keep it clean. Debating if I should get the family van done too. AND yes you should pick up a Mustang :) Thanks again for the Awesome comments Joe!!

2018 GT Premium w/PP1 - Very intricate gloss black painted wheels. Recently I tried out Meguiar’s Hybrid CeramicWax - I’m pretty happy with it. After the first treatment, you wash the car, I use Meguiar’s Gold Class Car Wash, then simply apply a light spray of the Hybrid CeramicWax to the wet surface and dry. I don’t use my leaf blower on the car. I use Griot’s Garage PFM Drying Towels - those towels are amazing! The wheels are another story. I use Aero Cosmetics Wash Wax All on the wheels. I have a couple of good wheel brushes & a lug nut cleaning tool. The leaf blower really saves a lot of time drying the wheels. I’m in Texas, so best time to wash the car is immediately at sunrise - The summer sun is crazy strong. Also I use a Camco camper water filter at the hose bib - this helps remove chlorine and other contaminants from the wash water. Your car looks great. Happy motoring 🤠

Thank you Analog Guy!!! We live up on a hill so just before 8 the sun dies behind the mountain which is perfect for washing; it does suck to film then though lol. Nice write up on the set up, I have looked at the Meguiars line up before but never really tried it. Well here’s one for you, what do you recommend for a leather cleaner and conditioner? I have leather throughout the car and want to keep it looking but also keep it in great condition for a long long time. So any recommendations? And how often would you clean vs conditioning?

My S550 is five years old, 54,000 miles. I have the “Carbon Sport Interior Package” - alcantara seat inserts with leather trim. Note - typically leather car seats are coated with a protective sealant, so leather care products my not be the best option. Also most cars with “leather seats” have leather on the seating surface and vinyl elsewhere. I use Mothers VLR on the appropriate surfaces and rubber gaskets. So far seats show no appreciable wear! I have a “98%” approach to car are - I do a really good job, but don’t get obsessive. Lot’s of people come up to me to admire my car and talk Mustangs!

I put a stubby attachment on my ego blower. I like using it because it knocks enough water off to prevent my drying towel from getting overly saturated, plus the typical hard to reach cracks and crevices
@LifeOfaMatt
@LifeOfaMatt Год назад
That’s awesome Woocoheed! What Ego do you have? When washing the car today I took off the front long barrel piece but I need to find a rubber band cover just in case it touches the car. Regardless in the end, it is the best way to dry the car!

@@LifeOfaMatt I have their weaker one, 530cfm I believe
@LifeOfaMatt
@LifeOfaMatt Год назад
Very cool. Do you wish you spent the extra few dollars to get the higher CFM model? The Ridgid did a good job 510 CFM but I’m curious to try something that outputs 800 CFM.
@woocoheed
@woocoheed Год назад
@@LifeOfaMatt nah, any higher would probably be louder and burn through the battery faster
@LifeOfaMatt
@LifeOfaMatt Год назад
@@woocoheed That's a really good point!!! Regarding the battery that is. Now here's a fun thought and trial, grab a leaf blower that outputs 500, 600, 700 and 800 CFM. I believe they are all using the same battery. So after the big test, the data will be clear; what blower performs the best and last the longest.

20" long? ATF says it's OK, because it's not a short barrel rifle, as the barrel exceeds 16"

Matt, what made you choose the Rigid over the Ego? Seems you get more bang for the buck with an Ego.

Surprised there isn’t a stubby for this leaf blower
@LifeOfaMatt
@LifeOfaMatt Год назад
I couldn’t agree more. I can take off the front black piece which reduces the weight and shortens up the unit. I will reach to Ridgid and see if something is or could be in the works.

@LifeOfaMatt have you been using it to dry cars? I'm a mobile detailer and just don't want to pay over 300 plus for the ego or the bigger ryobi or other bigger battery models. Home depot has the 2 battery plus free tool deal right now at 179 for the rigid batteries and this blower as an option for the freebie. I know it won't do as much as the 765 but I also like that it's lighter and smaller. I wash 5 to 8 cars a day, light and nimble is key. About how one do you get out of a battery? I think the battery deal is for a 4.0 and 6.0 each
@LifeOfaMatt
@LifeOfaMatt 9 месяцев назад
I find that the blower could dry 2 cars on one battery@@kirkwilson5900 If you were drying a truck, you may have just enough juice to start your second vehicle to dry but you wouldn't be able to complete the second one. Plus the speed starts to reduce after the battery drops below 50%. If you have the budget, I would get the ego as it will dry your vehicle a lot faster. On another note, having a vehicle that has a ceramic coat makes drying so much easier (ie the Mustang in this case). If I dry my van (has not coating on it) it takes twice the amount of time hence more battery drain too! Your call at the end of the day. Home Depot is good with their returns so you could try it out and return if you want the extra power.
