Just ducking around in Premiere Pro 🦆. This tutorial needed more duck puns, Let me know you best in the comments! 00:00 Intro And Example of Audio Ducking 00:45 Method 1 Manual Keyframe clip volume 02:07 Method 2 Using Add Edit and Audio Gain 03:37 Method 3 Automatic audio ducking in Essential Sound Panel 05:56 Method 4 Low Pass Filter
Superbly explained - I have used everything else, but I never used the lowpass method. I always avoided music with vocals... I learned something new today! Thank you
Thanks! I'm used to do the first 2 methods only... The 3rd one can get really handy sometimes! And I always wondered about how to do the lowpass trick but I was too lazy to research it haha
Thanks for this video Javier!! Audio has been one of the hardest things for me to grasp. It never sounds right, and there's so much that can go wrong. But this helps!
Found you in a Google search and I'm staying for the long haul (just subbed). I really like your tutorials thank you for all you do. There were some real gems in this video. ❤️
Can I add another tip? With a background in radio broadcasting I use the audio mixer to accomplish an automatic "ducking" effect: just set your music channel(s) to -21 dB (always use numbers in the table of 3 when working with decibells) and put a multiband compressor set to Broadcast on your master channel. It doesn't duck the music, it does the opposite: it boosts the music when there's no talking. It makes life so much earies for me!
You would think after watching hundreds of tutorials on Premiere, I would know everything. lol NOPE. Javier...You have the BEST tutorials about Premiere Pro on RU-vid. I'm learning stuff I didn't even know existed. Thanks for sharing your knowledge and for making such fun, easy-to-digest videos. 🤘🏽🔥
You have content that i really want but never found. First the echo at the end of a sound, and now this. Thank u so much, you deserve more subs & views. Keep it up!!
the most useful guy to watch, i just have fun watching your channel, I thought i was good at premier until i started to watch you, my knowledge turned out to be 10% only, i knew a lot of new stuff just because of you. thanks alot Javier. i hope you response as much as you like the Like button,
I'm just gonna drop a THANK YOU every time you help me out. Lol. Even when I already have a good process for a lot of the stuff you teach, I always get something new that helps strengthen my skills. I used to only drop the mids to make room for VO, I didn't realize how much the highs interfered too! Thank you again.
Thank you so much for doing this video. I have just started editing my own videos and I truly am enjoying your tutorials. I subscribed because of all the tutorials I've found so far, yours is hands down the best.
Thank you for this helpful -- and entertaining -- video! I am new to Premiere Pro and watching lots of instructional videos right now. Your presentation style and sense of humor really stands out from the crowd. Thanks again!
great stuff! Lately I've been playing around with a simple parametric eq centered on an average-ish frequency of the person speaking, so it works a lot like the LPF, but retains some of the higher frequencies the voice doesn't get to.
Great video, man! Another option: Instead of a low-pass filter, scoop (remove/lower) the mids only. Your voice still comes through but the music loses that underwater effect as some of the high-end is still there. Voices exist in the mids anyway so you create a nice space for it without sacrificing the actual intention of the music.
I've come across your videos on a few occasions and you've always provided great tips and knowledge. I finally subscribed so I wouldn't miss anymore. Keep up the great work!
I just found your channel a few days ago, because the RU-vid algorithm did something good for once ;) I just wanted to say, I love your content, your optimistic presentation and how much it helped me with my own project already! Keep it going! New sub, and a happy one at that! :)
Thank you, Javier :) 1 Note to using "Low Pass" Filter. I dont like it the way, you showed it, because if I see it correctly, you have to manually do the keyframes, again, right? The great advantage of step 3 is the automatic feature! So I am thinking about a better way of combining them: What I often do is that I use 2 seperate versions of the tracks underneath each other. Then I automatically duck the first track by so much, that the second version is more audible. Then you can apply all the effects you need to the second track and it will be audible :)
Hi, thanks for your videos, i need some help, please, i'm using premiere pro cc23.5 .Every time i want to add an audio keyframe it appears with one of the hangers and left part is all the way down make my audio with no sound. any fix for it? thanks
Love this tutorial. I knew about the first two methods before. I make use of the 2nd method because its easier than the first in my opinion. But that 3rd method is legendary. Just learning about it for the first time today and I see myself trying it out in the future. Thanks for this nice tutorial.
Greetings. Thank you for this video - very helpful. Any thoughts about using the Bypass option to toggle the Lowpass on/off? Just tested it and it seems to negate the need to set the cutoff levels.
