How to Easily Find Gold - Black Sand at Cape Disappointment Washington is Full of Gold! 

Please check all local, state and your federal laws and property lines before gold and mineral prospecting. Laws always change, and ignorance is no excuse for breaking the law.

It's been a while since I read about the rule updates, but my interpretation at the time was that you _could_ run a gold cube or whatever, but that you would basically have to pack your recirculation water out with you -- can't be dumped on the beach. But don't quote me on that. If you really can't run even an electric pump on the beach, target the black sand as well as you can, like with a spoon or something -- a lot of times its in deposits that are rather tidy, that is you can carefully scoop almost entirely black sand. Then you can take your 10 gallons or whatever of concentrates-ish back to your campground, and run your Gold Cube there.

I just went through the process of getting approval from WA dept. of Ecology in a letter, then applying to WA Dept. of Fish and Game for the legal beach mining permit. You must have the DOE letter to be able to apply for the beach mining permit. Be sure to have the Gold and Fish in Washington pamphlet with you also on the beach.. With the proper permit, as of May 2023, you can legally run a Gold Cube on the beach, providing you follow all of the rules and regs. Also be sure to have your paperwork for the Beach Mining Permit with you. The process was not, in my experience, a speedy one. From start until I got the final permit, it was a couple of months. The WA Dept of Fish and Game was EXTREMELY helpful in assisting me to correctly fill out the paperwork. Some of the rules are confusing, so I went to DFW in person to get assistance in properly filling out the paperwork, and not messing something up where it would take much longer in getting it done correctly, Be sure to make an appointment with DFW if you need help in filling out the form.

When I was stationed at Ft Lewis we went and checked out Cape Disappointment. It’s a pretty awesome powerful place.

Thanks for sharing. I'm heading to Oregon soon to try my hand at some beach panning while on a family vacation.

There are some beaches on the southern Oregon Coast that have good gold also, even some platinum group metals, but you definitely can't run an motorized anything on Oregon beaches. However, in Oregon, you can run a stream sluice -- and some of those beaches have little streams cutting across the beach. Another potentially interesting option for beaches with motorized equipment restrictions is an old-timey rocker box.

I found this lovely video nearly 10 months after I went. I tried the same sand. I do believe I can see some of my marks LOL But the funniest thing is that I used my hand to check. And it was so small I had to use a loop. Tried again with a black cap. And there it was. The smallest little shits I have ever seen 😂 I'm going back cause it's fun.

You mean the weather was disappointing at Cape Disappointment State Park?? No.. Dredging is also outlawed here in Cali because it "Disperses Mercury further down-stream into the ocean". But never mind the recent raining and floods that re-arranged our rivers disbursed more mercury than man could do with 10,000 years of dredging, the State still has no plans to re-instate dredging as legal. As California goes, so does the nation...unfortunately.

Hi Shane, I am currently in Littleton, CO for the week and needing to get some gold pans and classifiers. I went to Bass Pro Shops in Colorado Springs and the Cabella's in Lone Tree. Neither place had much in the way of prospecting equipment (mainly Stansport.) Is there a good prospecting shop anywhere in the Denver Metro area that you would recommend?

I live in Adelaide South Australia and i watch your show and i bought some pay dirt from turbo pan 2 containers and i am verry upset buy the amount i got as they brag you will get an extra 1Gram on top of what you get in the natural soil .i counted about 10 verry small flakes . to small to even register . not a happy customer lesson learnt
