It’s human. It’s okay to make mistakes. We learn better next time. Wonder if do tiles then grout then add rose bud with adhesive on the tiles ??? Would that be more easy way???

Love the blue tack idea....I use lots of lots embedded in my hearts and cleaning off the grout can be difficult...this would solve it...thanks!!!

Thanks so much Cindy, I have found it works really well for me, the Blu Tack brand I found works better than the Selleys Ezy Tack brand, I had no idea there was two companies making a similar product. :)

I have been taping off my Pique Assiette pieces forever, which is not only a royal pain in the butt; but, makes me procrastinate when it comes to grouting those type of pieces. So why the hell didn't I think of that? Thanks. On my way to Staples (Canadian Office Supply Store) now. I'd give you a big old 💋 if I was there!...Post-Covid of course...lol

I use masking tape, but Im not looking for perfection,lol...I do stained glass too, but luv 3d and the quickness of mosaics, plus the multi media of mosaics. Glad I found your channel😍 I have a fondness for black grout, I think its the stained glass artist in me. I like gog or 3d mosaics the best. I did my front door window, its about 3/4s of the door, using stained glass, glass nuggets, agate slices into a pond scene...just freehand - slapping stuff on,lol! I used marine adhesive clear silicone, whick is not a perfect adhesive, yet its done and looks so pretty!

Thankyou very much. Yes there are times I use masking tape as well, I used it in the video on creating a mosaic pot, you really use what works for you. Glad your door looks beautiful and it can be really fun to just let your imagination run with a piece rather than all planning. :)

@@SavedbyGraceCT GOG is abbreviated for Glass On Glass. A process where you adhere semi transparent stained coloured glass, glass gems, etc onto glass using a clear adhesive that doesn't yellow and the light shines through it. :)

Great tips. I’d swap to some wooden ear buds though, I read those often end up in the sea and sometimes up the noses of the poor turtles.

What was that white stretchy material you put over the roses to keep grout off them...in America what is it called?? Thanks Love your videos

Thankyou so much, theres a photo in the video of the product but I dont know what its called in the USA you may be able to buy it off Amazon. The one that I prefer is the Bostik brand and called Blu Tack. :)

Love the video .. You have taught me a lot! What do you use to clean the grout out of your sponge and paint brush?

Thankyou appreciate that. I just use water for both of them and I never clean them in the sink as the grout can block your drains, you can clean them in a bucket of water and wait for the grout to settle then tip the water off and bin the sediment. If the paint brush is pretty well past its usefulness, throw it out but generally I will get a few goes with it, I only buy the cheap ones as using them for grouting can be pretty rough. :)

He still had to clean grout off of the flower petals with a cotton swab. I think shrink-wrap or cellophane wrap, tightly stretched around the flowers, might work better as a cover.

Yes I did get some on the petals, in the video I said I added too much grout underneath which went onto a couple of petals, actually Its a really easy process as I have used it for years but I also had to contend with the broken flower after I dropped the piece, I should have fixed that before grouting and cover the flowers individually probably would have been a better alternative. Both too much grout and the broken flower just made it more difficult. lol The cellophane wrap can work well depending on the tess you are using as it doesn't stick to everything but it definitely adds to the choice. Im glad you bought up the cellophane wrap as its great for people to see other alternatives available to them.:)

@@TreasuryRoad I really appreciate your ability to think out of the conventional box as you experiment with new and imaginative techniques and materials. It is also refreshing that you are willing to post your mistakes (i.e. not fixing the loose flower prior to grouting.) and how you get around them because everyone who makes mosaics can expect to make a mistake or two and must learn to turn small failures into opportunities to innovate.

The ones in this video l made and they are then kiln fired. People do sell ceramic and porcelain flowers, l suggest Etsy or have a Google search. 😊

What is your vinegar / water ratio ? This is the first Time I have heard this trick of the trade

I have used diluted vinegar just a few drops in a glass and the rest with water to clean the tess, however I prefer to just use a dry rag and buff it all clean. Some people don't even dilute the vinegar however Im little concerned about doing that because of the grout. Always do a test first whichever you decide to go with but keeping the tess clean from residue is the best way.

How do you make the flowers? Is that on another video?

These are ceramic glazed flowers you would need a kiln to be able to make them, you can use polymer clay but they would only be suitable for inside there are videos on RU-vid that will show you how to make flowers out of polymer clay. 😊
