Super-sanitary installation! Looks prettier than the thimble and Crosby rope clips I used to attach my turnbuckle to the wire rope I use for my shade sails. Thanks for sharing.

How do you determine the length of wire between turnbuckles? Say, I want to have a 20 foot length. so If the turnbuckle is 12 inches closed? Is it based off the fully opened length?

I was told that the stainless steel needs to have air around it and not to put a silicone sealant as it needs to breathe. ( that’s may not be the right way the say it but I hope you understand what I mean )

You bring up a good point. However, the manufacture recommends sealing that end. See PDF: biltapp.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/suncor-stainless-lifeline-warnings-revised.pdf

How much weaker is this than a swage? What are it's practical uses?

A swage is stronger. It is typically used for Lifelines on a boat. The Working Load Limit (WLL) is determined by the WLL of the wire used. Do not use Quick Attach fittings for lifting or shock load applications that may exceed 33% of the fittings rated working load limit. Applications where quick attach should not be used include but are not limited to standing rigging, lifting apparatus, and amusement rides. The wire we used has a breaking load limit of 3241 lbs. The working load limit is typically 1/3 less than the BLL, so the wire's WLL is 1080 lbs. Do not exceed 33% of that amount means the WLL of the Quick Attach System with the wire we used is 724 lbs.
