Use a cut wire hanger and dig in a little deeper. There is probably more hair in there.

Wow this works. After plunging for over an hour and using bleach to no avail when it first got blocked. I waited seven hours until it slowly drained then used a cup of baking soda and a cup of warm vinegar, followed by two kettles of boiling water and lo and behold the clog has gone. I honestly thought I would need a plumber to snake it but this actually worked. Thank you for the brilliant suggestion.

Glad for you. My experience was completely different. I have a clog in my kitchen sink. So, when I poured in the baking soda and then the vinegar down the drain, where did it go? Nowhere. Then after waiting 10 minutes, I poured in a pot of boiling water. Where did go? Nowhere. It sits in the clogged sink (as you'd expect). Then I used a plunger for about 10 minutes. A lot of burbling and gurgling, but the water didn't go down. Repeated the process four or five times (I lost count) over a two-hour time period. And, then I did what I guess I should have done to begin with--called a plumber. Now, I'm waiting for him to call and hope he can get here quickly. Of course, it'll cost hundreds of dollars. My experience is these DIY "cures" work in only a small percentage of situations.

Works even better if you use a knitting needle and funnel to get the baking soda part way down the drain and use warm vinegar. That's the way my Dad did it when I was little. hope this helps

So I just tried this with warming up the vinegar and it WORKED. All I had to do was pull the pop-up piece up and down a few times and voila, the water 💧 went down smooth. Thanks you sooo much for the tip!

Just wanted to say thank you because this really worked for me. Needed a bit more vinegar and had to use a small hand plunger after about an hour, but it cleared! I think the BS and vinegar mix along with hot water softened everything up. Just needed a "push" from a small hand plunger. 3 quick pumps and -- gurgle, gurgle -- drain cleared!

This worked well on a nasty kitchen sink clog. I think my poking a chopstick down there helped afterwards. It was a really cruddy clog I been avoiding for days. This is an aerobic septic system and I didn't want to pour anything down that might damage the O2 balance in the tank.

this works on sinks plugholes but not bath plugholes. The bath plughole is a dead end. The water rises until it finds a hole in the side which leads to the overflow pipe as it comes down. It is the overflow pipe that you need to treat.

thanks i made a homemade drain snake out of an old rubber coaxal cable and ran it down my sink poured some hot boilinig water from a tea kettle used a little bit of baking soda and vinager and now my sink dont clog anymore hopefull this works now all i gotta do is clean my sink.

Tried it and it worked...the key is time...I waited for less 5 mins and it appeared that it wasn't working (but it was). I waited for about30 mins and the drain was cleared.

Things didnt change for us . My uncle was a plumber. X told my mum she didn't have to put s cover on piano. But she did as it was damaged. But we had to paint the ebay White x gold it looked wonderful. But the boiler he put in for us, had the tap over the draining board, instead of the sink. But mum put a piece of hose pipe into the sink to avoid a family break up. We can only try can't we!. So now D.I.Y.

I love using baking soda and vinegar to unclog a drain. It works very well. Of course, it works best if you can get the baking soda to go down into the drain and then pour the vinegar in there. Then it really starts to bubble and work it's way further into the drain.

Yeah I tried this method yesterday 3 times and it didn’t work. I think there’s a heavy blockage down the line somewhere. But we don’t have the most efficient designed plumbing either.

Gabriela Perez Nope. For some reason that bath drain runs to the bathroom sink then into the main line(don’t ask me why original owners built the house.). So I got my snake and ran it through the sink side and pulled a good chunk of hair that completely clogged the line. Guess I need a drain guard. Had it fixed in 15 minutes.

That used to happen to me. But I got a little rubber stopper, it has a drain that,slips into the bath drain, when,it,fills,up, I,just take all the hair out and put,it,back,in, this happens about 4 times while bathing a long haired dog!! That way none of,it gets into your tub drain. You can pick,these up just about anywhere, it works great!!

Good video thx. When demonstrating you first pulled out as much hair as possible then proceeded to use the baking soda and vinegar. It would be interesting to watch the results of the hair removal prior to using the chemical reaction.

My drain gets clogged without hair stuck in the drain. I do the steps in the video and it unclogs it every time. Pulling the hair out is to demonstrate clearing what you can before using the baking soda technique.

Thank you...did the trick. I pulled hair out of sink but couldnt unscrew the bottom in my apt. So i found this video to help with the other part that was still clogged. Waited 8-9 min and poured boiling water...it fizzed the water was still collecting in the bowl draining slow..after about a minute there was a bubble like a bottle uncorking and the water all drained out immediately! Thank you thank you!

just rinse with hot water directly from your shower, don't need to boil water. Vinegar and fresh squeezed lemons (1 or 2) also do the job and the drains will smell very good afterward, also, the acid in the lemons will kill all germs, bacterias and bad odors. I do that to all my drains at least once every 3 months and never had a problem ever since.

Stuffing a rag on one side while plunging the other has always worked on double sinks for me I've even dislodged a d sos pad from a friend's drain and that was after a failed plumbers attempt

You shouldn't dump boiling water down a drain with pvc pipes. Super hot water (just about to boil) usually works without baking soda and vinegar. If you dump boiling water in a pvc pipe and it sits at the clog, it could cause damage.

You are correct on that. I would never pour boiling water down the drain. Now, I would heat water to very hot but not boiling, and that should be fine.

Yup I've used the Baking soda and Vinegar twice to unclog the sink i removed all standing water poured baking soda half of what i had and then poured Vinegar half of what i had let it fizz then pored boiling water on top of that . Waited did it again and boom clog was on it way out of here. I use vinegar for everything i even drink it and it heals soar throat and helps with cough it goes in a cup of boiling water, lemon, honey ,dash of cinnamon and 2 teaspoons of white vinegar and half hour later i can sing again you don't taste the vinegar taste tangly try it

I've never seen this video, but wanted to stop in and say that this DOES work. I had a VERY slow drain in my bathtub, where there's be 2-3" of standing water in the bottom during a shower. I was gonna go to HD and get a hand snake, but decided to try this. Please note that there was NO hair visible or that I was able to get with a plastic hair puller. Since I did this, it drains PERFECTLY, and doesn't hold any water. I was skeptical, but it worked. I'm guessing it was just old soap scum and I'm sure the bubbling loosened it up good and then the boiling water really flushes it.

I’ve tried baking soda and vinegar before. The pH balance neutralizes close to 7, which is that of water. When I used baking soda by itself and chased it with boiling water, that did the trick. The chemical reaction between baking soda and vinegar looks effective, but it’s not...

Wow! Bubbles! And you're left with a neutral liquid. If you boil any liquid and pour it down the drain, it can soften "gunk" enough break the block. Try this instead: Pour boiling vinegar (mild acid) down the drain without neutralizing it with baking soda (mild alkali).
