We headed to Awash with Rania Sheikh to learn more about the importance of injera within the Ethiopian community. See how it’s made on a traditional round hot plate, or mitad; and talk about the best way to eat and cherish the porous, spongelike food. We also spoke to the chefs about the dish itself and some of the difficulties they come across when trying to emulate tradition.

The injera is dark bc there’s two types of teff, brown(dark) and white.it’s not dark bc it’s gluten free ....a lot of people prefer the white injera(teff) bc it looks good to the eye but the brown injera has more nutrients and it main source of iron. Love from 🇪🇹

I'm a chef and I rented a room with an Ethiopian family for 2 years and they would invite me to share a meal with them. It blew my mind! The food was amazing. Now I always crave their food and have been to many different Ethiopian restaurants and none of them have been as good! I was spoilt and didn't even know it!

I absolutely love this video.🥰❤️. I worked with a large group of Ethiopian people about 30 years ago. For some reason there was this younger girl who always insisted on feeding me by her own hand. Well at first I thought, "Maybe they don't want me touching their food" or "Maybe there's some hand washing ritual I don't know about." But I finally know why. She was respecting me by feeding me from her own hands.🥺. That brings tears to my eyes, knowing she respected me that much. Her name was Hirut. I wish I could find her and thank her for that!

I'm Ethiopian with an adoptive American mother. I never knew the names of the food, but it's delicious. Whenever my sister and I go to an Ethiopian get together with friends of our birth parents, we go strait for the bread, sauce and meat cus we liked that the most. The sauce is spicey as hell too.

Greetings from India. I have enjoyed Ethiopian cuisine back in Kenya and I can't help noticing the similarity to Indian cookery & culture. The injera itself is an African cousin of our dosa; the preparation is identical as in soak, ferment and steam. Also, Ethiopian cuisine is spicier than, say, Kenyan cuisine, where milder flavours prevail. An Indian would be very much at home with a doro wat. The presentation, too, is so like a thali, and the injera works just like roti in conveying food to the mouth. Most enjoyable. 👍🏼👍🏼🍀

Anoop congrats on being a dumbass. There is no Muslim neighbor that is "hell-bent" on destroying Ethiopia. White Christians from Italy have attempted to ravage East Africa with their Catholic values and to colonize Ethiopia and steal their riches and artifacts. Muslims have lived in East Africa for 1400 years alongside Christians with no problems. Plus, only 2 Muslim countries (Somalia and Djibouti) border Ethiopia. The rest are war-torn, underdeveloped Christian countries (South Sudan, Kenya, Eritrea).
@Jojomojo202
@Jojomojo202 4 года назад
Anoop Mathen Refrain from spreading this bullshit. You have very poor knowledge of history. If anything, the most loved non-Muslim majority nation by Muslims is Ethiopia. Muslims have never forgotten the generosity of the Ethiopians who let them stay when they were being persecuted in Arabia. If anything, I’ve seen more non Muslims like the Italians more hell bent on destroying Ethiopia than the grateful Muslims themselves.

I have been eating Ethiopian/Eritrean/Somalie food for years (since the mid-80's). Something about sitting in a circle and eating with your hands that makes the meal special and people want to talk to each other. This is a meal/culture that brings family and friends together for quality interactions(also try the coffee ceremony if you can...absolutely the best coffee I have ever had!) verses a nightly eat and run event.
