That’s awesome being Hispanic (Cuban and Puerto Rican ) the Cubans have a version of fufu as well pronounced the same way except it’s made with mashed boiled green plantains bits of pork grinds and garlic

We make something similar in Karnataka, India. We call it Ragi Mudde [spelt 'raagi-mu-dey']. We take small piece off the Ragi ball and eat it (swallow it) with a usually spicy curry. I chew it too because I do not know how to swallow it 💀 It's so cool to find out similarities between cultures ✨

@@elenamendoza1493 It’s normally planting or cassava that’s been boiled and be to a pulp pounded to a pulp I don’t particularly care for it it doesn’t really taste like much to be honest it’s kind of sour kind of bitter, It’s not to my liking but to each their own you know everyone likes different things it definitely doesn’t taste probably how you would imagine it would I’ll just put it that way I guess

@@freyjia5067 ragi also called Finger Millet is used for a variety of dishes. The powder is used to make Ragi mudde...tastes very different from Fufu except that both are cooked and consumed in similar patterns 🙂 Ragi has a sort of malt like flavour you can say

My niece is half African & I enjoy western African food as well. I'm going to ask her grandma to make me some vs. Me running out to go buy it. The consistency is what has me intrigued. I'm surprised they don't put any seasoning to it. If I bought it that's probably what I would end up doing lol.

So its flour made from various starchy tubers or plantain. Can be made from Cassava, Plantain, Rice or Yam. Some taste plain and some taste sour but you have to eat it with a savoury/spicy soup

I am guessing he did that to subliminally emphasize the fact that you are not supposed to chew fufu; you merely cut a small piece of the dough at a time and dip it in the soup, then simply swallow it without chewing it. You chew the meat and/or fish that is in the soup in-between (whenever you like). VERY IMPORTANT ETIQUETTE: For reasons of hygiene: please use right hand only: ie when eating from same bowl with others.

You don't have to call him your "adopted son" babes. Just call him your son. He's a part of your family now. I'm sure that would probably make him feel somewhat uncomfortable if you were going around introducing him as "THIS IS MY SON, MY DAUGHTER, AND MY ADOPTED SON". You don't want him to feel different or left out. I mean I can't tell you what to do or how to say things, it's just a all suggestion. I hope you don't take this in offense. And if he's not truly adopted and is more like a play son then I apologize. But to me once you adopt someone into your life as your child, wether it be adopted or "playfully" they're part of the family.
