Thanks for the workflow suggestions. I am trying this and so far so good. To disable the video tool tips - Photoshop - settings - tools - uncheck the "show rich tool tips".

I rarely do any cropping to an image, since I usually try to pick the perfect composition via focal length in the field. On the rare occasion I do need to crop, I’ll do that as the very first step.
