Very interesting question. Biochar actually accelerates the composting process. bioresources.cnr.ncsu.edu/resources/the-influence-of-biochar-addition-on-chicken-manure-composting-and-associated-methane-and-carbon-dioxide-emissions/
Thank you so much, I appreciate this. Let's say in ideal situation * Good weather *Stock density is average *Minimal water spillage What's can be average length of time for litter before change
All those are relative. Good weather here is not the same as good weather there. I've seen people who managed to raise 8 weeks broilers on a litter without changing. For layer chickens, you can go as long as 6 months without changing and when you do, it not because of odour or wetness, it's usually because it has turned to dust There's actually no one-size-fits-all answer for how long before you change litter for broilers
I wish I had seen this before starting my poultry house I used rice bran instead, thank you for this video am a first-time poultry farmer and I love all your videos so insightful and I trust ALL your videos God bless you.

Hello, thank you for this useful information. I am trying that actually. What about coconut husk, it is absorbant too. May be we can use it like that too. It can be more ecofriendly
Hello i just now find your channel and right away subcribe. I am a young poultry farmer a lady. But i dont cement my floor can i use chrcoal the same way.
@@patricknnagbo1349 There is no one-size-fits-all answer to that. Factors like stocking density, prevailing weather, and litter management will determine when the litter will be due for a change.
Will the mixing of charcoal with wood shelving when preparing the bedding not affect the end product. ie the waste of the birds been converted yo manure.
It is more suited for the deep litter system. Except you have a kind of setting where you have to put shavings under your cages for the poop to fall on it, then this may not be useful for the conventional battery cage system with a drain.
Thank you, and welcome to the Channel. Overall, the time of removal will depend on a couple of factors. Stocking density, age of birds, prevailing weather, litter management on the part of the workers. This means there is no right or wrong answer to your question. What I can say is that this method prolongs the time.
Hi hello sir. 1) Is the charcoal and the wood saw hull mix before put the chicks? 2) is it good if I use rice hull and carbonized rice hull? Thank you God bless
