WOWWWWW! Mind BLOWN!!!! I can not tell you how thankful I am for your video! I have been embroidering onesies for almost 2 years now and every time I did, I felt as if I was wrestling them! I have been actually hooping them along with the stabilizer! The whole time pulling on the sleeves and sides to keep them out of the needle's way! needless to say a NB onesie would always come out much bigger after I was done embroidering! How easy you have just made my life! I can't wait to try it out! THANK YOU!

You've given good instruction and tips for this! I saw another video where the instructor used quilting clips to hold the excess material of the onesie to the hoop to keep it away from the needle. I am definitely going to give it a whirl, thanks for the video!

Yes be very careful! I sewed my finger when I first started and it was painful and expensive to get my machine recalibrated! No more midnight embroidering for me! Very good video!

I am going to buy a Viking in a few weeks and was terrified bc I couldnt see how it was going to embroider shirts so small or boots for that matter (it says it can but the boots is not a deal breaker). THANK YOU for this tututorial! My baby sister is pregnant and I want to do some onsies for her! You make me feel a little more confident that I can do this!

This video is superb! You've have explained everything we need to know. I've seen other videos on embroidering onesies and they leave me very frustrated and anxious, to the point where I was afraid to do it for fear of messing it up. With your video, I'm anxious to try it. Thanks so much.

Cut open one side of the onesie on the seem. Embroider it laying out flat. Then use a serger to re-sew the side and make it look good as new. Much easier than sewing through a hole.

Hi Catch! It's tricot. Rob - I don't usually prewash, but you can if it's a concern. Just check the label. If the onesie says "preshrunk" or it has at least 50% polyester, it's not likely to shrink enough to cause a problem.

Thank goodness I found your tutorial. I tried to embroider on a small onesie by hooping it to a 4” hoop. It was so difficult and the onesie was completely stretched out. I tried hooping the onesie your way, and it was so much easier, and the shirt was not stretched out. I didn’t have a ball point needle and my needle made a hole in the shirt. Went out and got some ball point needles, and it worked! No more holes. I didn’t have cut away mesh stabilizer, so had to practice with a medium tear away that I sprayed with a temporary adhesive. Also didn’t remember to put the second layer of stabilizer on the hoop, but my practice piece still looked ok. I am lookin g forward d to using your method the right way. I’m sure it will turn out much better. I am a little confused, though. Are both layers of stabilizer kept on the onesie when completed? Thanks for a wonderful tutorial that makes so much sense!

LOVED THIS! I just finished a heavy pattern for friends (adult) can I use this knit fuseable stabilizer for the back of their’s as well? I used a med-heavy stabilizer for the back of the pattern, but it seems like it’s too rough on the skin.

Good video. I haven't done a onesie, yet, but have plans to. What I don't understand is why you ironed on stabilizer and then laid the onesie on stabilizer that's already hooped? Why not just 505 spray the onesie on the hooped stabilizer, or iron on a big enough piece and then hoop it? You stated that ironing it on will keep the onesie from moving around, but it could still move around since it's not hooped and, therefore, not stationary. I guess I don't understand the process. I'm rather new to embroidery. I started in 2017, but I don't embroider all the time. Maybe once or twice a month, if that much. I am going to be a grandma for the first time early next year - twice, in fact, since both my kids and their significant other are expecting at the same time (not planned, btw, just how it's turning out). I want to get this Onesie Challenge figured out in time to make them something. :-D Thank-you for considering a reply.

For some reason I when I try to embroider a onsie it ALWAYS gets caught underneath and then ruins the onesie. I will try to use a different stabilizer because I only have the squares that are the tear away, but it is pretty thick. Thank you for explaining this!

I've tried using fusible mesh, and absolutely hated it. The more you press it to get the wrinkles out, the more it shrinks up and causes even more wrinkles.

I am a bit confused, if you iron on the stabilizer to the inside of the inside, how would you then cut it away when your finished. Wouldn't it be stuck down too well to peel it up and cut it away?

My problem is finding a font that is not too narrow and not too thick. I just did a newborn Onsie that says, "Finally out! I ran out of womb!" Well, I had to use 1/2 inch font, but it's almost too skinny. My exclamation mark looks like a hair, so I had to doctor it up with hand stitching. Any tips? I also think maybe my needle is not a ball point. It is 75 11, but don't know.

Thank you for your video. Do you have any extra tips for doing medium sized designs on a teeny onesie? I do a lot of newborn and preemie onesies and have a lot of issues keeping the extra fabric pulled out of the way and jamming in the bobbin area in dense designs. I used cut away stabilizer in a med. weight. I also use small hair clips to hold the extra fabric out of the way but I feel I am stretching the onesie soo much that it will be too out of shape. I will try the fusing the stabilizer to the back of the onesie and see if that helps some. Just wondered if you had any extra tips for the small ones. Thanks, Brenda

Small binder clips will hole the Onsie in place to the hoop. No need for Chinese chop sticks. Many times you can get them at Dollar Tree for sure you can get them at any office store..

Well, it has been 6 years and here I come along and am in your shoes now lol. Did you ever, by chance, figure out what stabilizers to use? I have Sulky Tender Touch to iron and have the tear away stabilizer. At this time, I don’t have the cut away. I think I read you cannot iron tear away or it will melt. Will you please pass your knowledge onto me? Thank You!

Is the needle 75/11 an embroidery needle or is just a ball point 75/11. Also where do your get the onesie Monag from ? What store or where on line do you purchase them, do you have to have a business to be able to purchase the pink blank onesis?

Ladies, what is the best brand of ONESIES to use and where do you buy them? The Gerber onesies are very thin and difficult to stitch.
@dixona1986
@dixona1986 9 лет назад
+Vicky Lynn for a long time I used the ones they have a Hobby Lobby... but I switched to Monag and won't ever look back... they can be a bit pricey if you don't have a tax ID and business account set up but the quality is fantastic and they don't shrink up like the HL ones do! If you want to save the cost there and still use the Gerber brand onesie (it's trademarked by the way) Use an iron on medium weight stabilizer that you iron on the back side of it... hoop a medium weight cut away then float the onesie with the iron on on top of it... it should do a better job of making sure that the thin material doesn't pull too bad ;)
