After some comments on my previous TSA ostomy video that blew me away and showed how such a simple little video on my part could make such a huge difference in someone else's life, I'm thinking I need to share more ostomy tips and advice. Whether you have an ileostomy, colostomy, or urostomy, I think a short weekly or even monthly video giving tips or going over ostomy products could be a huge help. Comment your ostomy questions, tips, tricks, or favorite products down below and lets get a conversation going to see if we can help some people!

I am 95 and have had a ostomy for four years now and find videos like your very helpful. Don’t let anyone stop you, you make people that feel life is just a mess, realize that it’s not and there is life after this operation that nobody want to have. Bless you, you make it sound normal and acceptable

My pop, just passed at 85, had an Ostomy since early 70s. Because of him I carry an emergency kit just in case. Bags. Glue, cleaning, belt, bibs. Most folks dont realize how that effects life. My dad had a hard time when picking us kids up, because our little legs were always just the right length to accidentally kick in just the wrong spot. Dad's close friends referred to him, lovingly, as a "side hole" vs A#$hole. Keep on being you and doin what you do just the way your doin it. Much respect.

Thanks Casey for sharing this. I am an ostomate, and have been for 26 years. I find that most people want to hide their ostomy. I know not why you have yours but mine is a badge of courage, for without it. I would not be alive. I am an avid adventure motorcyclist, with over 500,000 miles under my butt, and the ostomy does not slow me down. Oh did I mention I am 76 years young. Keep up the good work.

I'm watching these videos from the standpoint of being trained in first aid and knowing one day I may need to create a safe area for someone with an ostomy bag to empty their bag, to change it or to provide them with emergency care before the ambulance can reach us and take over. I volunteer with the NSW State Emergency Service in Australia and live in a small town of around 2000 people. Because we live in a small town the team of SES volunteers (that I am a part of) are often used as the "first aid and lost children" service for local community events. Thank you for making these videos as it doesn't just help people who have ostomy bags or their friends or family. Your videos have helped me to understand how I can prepare a kit, to be kept with our first aid supplies, to be used in an emergency. Blessings from South Eastern Australia, Dot

After a severe accident I ended up with an Ostomy, never scared me for some reason as I was so happy to just be alive! After my accident I proved all my Dr's wrong as they told me I'd never walk again yet I may not walk perfect but I walk. I carry in every vehicle I own extra supplies in a simple plastic bag for when the need arises. Anyone could end up with an Ostomy for a multitude of reasons. Fact is those who have the Bag' can do anything they want just as before their life changed . Casey, please keep up the TSA as they will help many people better understand life can change when we least expect it. Ostomy SAVE lives!!!

Thank you for your comment, it made me feel so much better about my upcoming surgery. I am sorry about the accident that changed your life but can totally understand that you’re just happy to be alive. I have severe female problems it has gotten to the point where I have not stopped bleeding for 10 months now and have no choice but to have a hysterectomy at 33. I also have cancer and they wanted me to get my cancer into remission or at least stable first. Now that my cancer is stable, I am ready for a hysterectomy but absolutely terrified. They told me due to severe bowel involvement from endometriosis, a bowel reconstruction is needed and will likely result in a stoma. So thank you, you have no idea how much your comment has helped me.

That is a great take-along ostomy kit that you have developed and use regularly! I will definitely utilize the cup, good quality TP, baby wipes and doggie bags for when I travel or in a plane’s tiny bathroom. As you stated the cheap flimsy toilet paper in restaurant bathrooms and planes is horrible. Thanks for the video and tips! I have a possible tip for you… I use a product called Sure Seal that completely covers my ConvaTec skin barrier wafer. Sure Seal is a very thin waterproof membrane that is extremely flexible. I live in Florida and I have never had my wafer come off of my torso when using the Sure Seal. I can float in 90* Gulf waters, my pool or hot tub for an hour or more without it coming loose. I can also do yard work, bending stooping and whatever and it never breaks down. I usually change my ostomy appliance every 4-6 days. I use a ConvaTec two piece Ostomy appliance with an accordion wafer. I find with the two piece ConvaTec system I can burp the air out of my bag and reseal it to my wafer in the bathroom or even overnight while still in bed. Again thanks for your video and your very helpful hints!

I just watched the video (made a month or so after this one) where you fabricated the directional winch mount for your Ram, and when you were lifting the thing into the bed, you said something about hoping your wife does not see that video and watch you do that. I wondered why she would get mad at you for lifting that into your truck, but with this video you provided a quick and fast answer to that question. My grandfather has an ostomy bag after he developed colon cancer, and I remember those doctors telling him he can pretty much never lift anything over 40 pounds again. Nor could he split wood for his fireplace anymore. He's since passed, but likewise my uncle got a stoma bag coming off his kidneys after he developed bladder cancer. He was told the same thing, he couldnt work anymore much less lift even remotely heavy things. So seeing what they went through, I can definitely then understand why your wife would be angry if she saw you lifting up big heavy chunks of steel. you did it anyway , and everything seemed fine, so I spose that is just a testament to how tough you are. I could not imagine what it would feel like carrying and lifting all that steel around with a hole in your abdomen.

What I've found, because we live out in northern Wisconsin, I keep napkins, the brown ones, from restaurants in our car and UTV. When needed they serve well as toilet paper and disintegrate quickly in the woods. Less stuff in a landfill.

Casey, I love that you speak openly and honestly about your ostomy. It's something that the average Joe doesn't know about. My mom was a senior when she had bowel surgery and ended up with a colostomy bag. She knew nothing about them and was devastated. The thought of it intimidated her I think. I was with her every step of the way as the nurses educated both of us and when she left the hospital, we both considered ourselves experts on stomas 😆 If anybody had questions about stomas - we had the answers. Gawd we were so obnoxious 😆 It became just another part of her day. Completely normal. There should be no stigma about stomas. Carry on 😃

For people who have are facing having to know what it's like to live with one, listening to some DR drone on in there monotone voices telling people how it will affect them doesn't really help them know how life is living with one. I heard you mention you had a "bad" comment, I know I'm here a year later, but I only recently even found out about stomas and ostomies. I'm certainly old enough to be better educated but it's something people never bring up. I've really appreciated the channels I've found of people who've had this procedure giving first hand information. I imagine it helps others with a bag, especially if new to it, but just letting us see that there's so many conditions people may go through that you don't see and we're all too quick to judge at times, is a good reminder to be kinder! I'm glad there's a way to treat whatever was the problem in this way, I imagine there were people just 100 years ago who would have loved the chance. Basically, keep doing what doing and thanks for the courage to share with us all!☺️

Casey, Wow. Thank you for sharing about a subject that I am sure is as personal as it gets. The old saying, " I am so generous that I gave away my butthole and now I sh.. threw my ribs" , takes on a meaning the rest of us have no idea about. The container with TP and doggie bags works for the rest of us also. Please by all means do the video with TSA. Never be embarrassed by what life gives you. Happy Trails, Pat

Hi Casey, I don't need a bag, and I don't know anyone who does. However, that might change at any time in the future and should that happen I think your videos will be the thing I remember most about raising my awareness and consideration for what it means and how one lives with it. Thank you for doing that and, please, continue to present your videos as you see fit, on the subjects that matter to you. Well done for being frank and open about it. 👍

Thanks Casey. Had a family member that had a temporary one for about 6 months and she had no idea of any of these things and basically just stayed home the entire time except a few outings out and right back. She's replumbed now, but I wish I could have turned her to this kind of information when she was going through it. Thank you.

And that's exactly why I want to post these things. If it helps people realize that they can still live their normal life and not miss out on things, it's 100% worth it

I do not have an ostomy bag yet here I am watching the whole video. Making a weekly video that can help/educate others is a great idea. This video was clearly labeled and I could have skipped it if I was not interested in its content. Keep them clearly labeled so anyone who is not interested in its content can skip it and watch something else. Anyone who continuously leaves negative comments just about these videos can be bared from your channel.

thanks for sharing!. I do not have an ostomy bag but my MIL and several other friends/family do and I keep trying to help them resume their normal activities more comfortably. An idea for a video are things I can do to help them. The tupperware/bags/wipes etc is a great one. Keep 'em coming. ( I showed up for the off road stuff but I stayed for the ostomy stuff because no one really wants to talk about that shit ( pun intended!) Thanks for being brave!

I keep a kit in the trunk of my car, a tall yogurt pot with a lid, lined with a Bag It Away bag and loo roll etc. works so well for me. The Bag It Away bags are opaque and hold in any odors and so easy to then dispose of. When traveling I put everything I need for each change into it’s own Bag It Away bag. Makes for an easy self- contained change kit. Thanks for all your great info. Hope this also might help your viewers.

My Brother had colon cancer that had broken through the intestinal wall and had to have an ostomy bag! This was in 1993! It has improved a lot since that time! He was too embarrassed by the long time it took to clean up and did not share any procedures to his family! He died in 1996 of kidney cancer because he was born with only one kidney! I have appreciated seeing your explaining everything and in such a natural way! I had colon cancer in 2002, but I caught the symptoms in time that surgery was all I needed to survive! We are so glad to be alive that we accept and adapt to anything we have to deal with❣️Thank you my friend❣️

Sadie , I am sad to hear about the loss of your brother and I am glad to hear that you was able to understand your symptoms and receive help... I lost my brother in law to colorectal cancer 7 years ago, he was 54 years old. His was in stage 4 when it was diagnosed and had spread to his liver.. The Doctors believe that had he received a Colonoscopy at age 50 , "the guide lines are now age 45" that he would still be alive. SO I am asking people to get the recommended procedure as it could very well save your life. Wishing you continued good heath Sadie.

Casey that's very nice of you to do that. I'm sure you'll help somebody dealing with the same thing. If other people don't like it, scroll to a different video that simple. No need to catch hard feelings about it. If I don't like a video, I just keep it moving. Well enough said. Keep recording cause I'll be watching. Be safe and God bless.

I want to thank you for these videos. It was because of understanding what a illeostomy is that when I found out I have colon cancer in January 2022 I was able to better understand what I was looking forward to. My entire large intestine was removed on 01/27/22 and I was given an illeostomy. I have somewhat mimicked your spare parts bag as something I carry in my vehicles with me (awesome idea btw) even the ostomy clinic nurses liked the idea to which I did give you credit. One thing I have found that may help you is a protector belt. I have been looking into one because my ostomy wound up being right on my belt line so with the protector I can wear my pants normally again. I am looking into a plastic cover design due to pricing (about $150) but there was one I found that actually utilizes an aluminum cover plate. The aluminum made me think of your video where your bag was damaged moving the tree branches. I will probably et one of them late on, but those are $300. Thanks again for sharing your experiences as they are a big help to someone like myself new to having this addition to their life.

Particularly for telling people to take their opinions and stuff it lol.
