How to enable Following Error Alarm and Custom Step Count on CL57T Hybrid Stepper Controller

I recently purchased from eBay a set of 3 CL57T Hybrid Stepper Motor Driver with Stepper Motors: They work, but did not seem to detect following error as a fault. After some fruitless searching and a clueless eBay seller, I tried the software - and there the answer is!
UPDATE: For those of you asking:
The model of CL57T which I have is: MS30A
The software I used is available from:
The page for the device is here:www.omc-steppe...
The exact download l ink for STEPPERONLINE_v2.0.0.exe is here: www.omc-steppe...
(Note that for the Version MS10E series, they have different software, which I have not used: www.omc-steppe...)

That tuning graph is to help you tune the driver for the specific location where the stepper is installed, you tweak the PI (Kp and Ki) parameters. That means you tailor the stepper for the specific job so it can do it faster and with less error. Check on RU-vid "PID regulation" for more info.

hello, I have the same driver (maybe a newer version), but I want to ask. Motor parameters such as current must be set using software? Did you find a manual somewhere for the individual parameters? Thanks

I honestly don't remember too much. I made the video 3 years ago :D I don't know if there is a manual, but as I recall the parameters are common among CNC PID controllers so you can probably find and study any video on setting up a PID motor controller and learn what you need to know!

I have an issue where I can't push the Y axis motor very hard. Based on your video the issue should improve if I increase the value?
@fromjesse
@fromjesse 2 года назад
It's hard to say. Could be numerous problems. Did it used to work right then it quit working right? Have you tried wapping X and Y motors to see if the problem stays with the X axis or moves to the Y axis? Have you tried swapping the X and Y (inputs and outputs) on the stepper controllers, to see if the problem is the motor or the controller? Having the max following error set to a very small number could limit the amount of toque available. But having the maximum current setting set too low could also limit the torque. It could also be a partly shorted winding in the X motor, or bad wiring. It could even be stray inductance in the motor and/or sensor wires running to the motor which cause interference when the motor starts to work hard. See how the motor and sensor wires are all tightly twisted up in my video above? That's a good idea. If those wires are loose and stray, they can interfere with eachother and cause false signals that can cause following error faults. But it's definitely worth looking over the settings and make sure everything is as it should be. And of course don't forget to check the mechanical X axis, make sure it is freely moving and not binding up! Cheers!

How to control this leadshine CSD 403 driver with Arduino please help me
@fromjesse

I'm sorry, I don't know much about Arduino. But the controller has a step and a direction pin as I recall - you pulse one pin to step in one direction, or set 5v on the DIR pin to change direction, and pulse the first pin to make it step in the other direction.

I purchased a different brand cl57 and they are saying it cannot be used with software :(
@fromjesse
@fromjesse 2 года назад
Did you try the software and does it not work? Or who is telling you that it cannot be used? My guess is they all just copy eachother, I would have guessed that the stepperonline software would work on any of them, but maybe they modified the firmware a little to make it not work. You might have to get the software of the brand you did get -- or send back the one you did get and get a stepperonline one since they have software for it. Oh, if the brand you got doesn't have software, then make a youtube video about how that company doesn't provide software and their unit won't work with available software, and send them a link so they can see that their bad practice is going to reduce business when people find out.

Sorry I was out of town. Sticker on the motor says STEPPERONLINE. It was the cheapest thing I could find on ebay. That listing is discontinued, but it was *similar* to this chinese junk item: www.ebay.com/p/17047972051

Does the software only come with the stepper motor, or can it be found elsewhere online?
@fromjesse
@fromjesse 3 года назад
Goodness, I'm trying to remember and I can't. I just checked the boxes, they do not contain CDROMs, so I think I downloaded it. Been long enough I don't remember. The computer I installed it on is busy with a CNC job so I dare not mess with it, but later I can check the version of the software I have. I might even have the installer file on the computer still, if you want a copy. Running an executable from me is no more stupid than running one from China LOL. But you should be able to find it online I think - possibly even from the manufacturer's own website, although I looked briefly just now and couldn't find it.

As a year has passed, would you recomend this controller?
@fromjesse
@fromjesse 3 года назад
Wow, has it been a year? I wish I could say I had an answer, but the sad truth is I've just been so busy with other things they still sit in their boxes. I have no more experience with them other than is shown in the video. They seemed to work great, although I did have some glitchiness at first, but I think the encoder cable was not screwed on (just plugged in) and may not have been connecting. After fastening them tightly, I don't believe I had any issues.

HA!! Guess what I found! A link to the exact software I'm using right from the manufacturer's website: www.omc-stepperonline.com/download/STEPPERONLINE_v2.0.0.exe And their page which has other software links as well is here: www.omc-stepperonline.com/closed-loop-stepper-driver/closed-loop-stepper-driver-0-8-0a-24-48vdc-for-nema-17-23-24-stepper-motor-cl57t If for some reason the above links goes away, I still have the install file that I used, it is named STEPPERONLINE_v2.0.0.exe and it has an md5sum 978dad02590c5a1c8b51f4c85519be65 and it is almost 2MBytes. (Specifically, the size is 1930377 bytes exactly.)

@@fromjesse Yep. Finally I found it too yesterday evening... Was hided behind "select driver" section. I did try to find it from "sources & help" area without success ;) I have only an one difference. I use CL57-BK, which have a brake output for my Z servo (with brake naturally).
