Learn how to enable sessions manager for your ec2 instance. For secure, audited, shell-level access to AWS resources without the hassle that comes with running bastion hosts, use the Session Manager capability of AWS Systems Manager instead of SSH. You can use an interactive, one-click browser-based shell or the AWS CLI to access Amazon EC2 instances, on-premises instances, and VMs.

don't do this, better to use host management under aws system manager, you would be regretting this in the long run, if you manually add the created role per server.

your instance must have a elastic ip attached , i also faced this issue but discovered that the elastic ip is must for the SSM to work
