Today I'm unboxing, setting up, testing and reviewing a super exciting tool! A Dual-Laser Engraver and cutter by xTool! I've seen it many times before and was very curious about its capabilities when it comes to engraving on metal - a feature especially useful in jewelry making. Today I had a chance to partner with xTool to bring you this video and test this machine for myself. You can expect an honest opinion from me, as well as a follow up video in which I will be using this machine to engrave on silver and brass, testing its use in my jewelry making process and sharing my thoughts after using it for some time.

I got an F1 and found its metal engraving pretty unusable but it is very useful for marking metal for hand engraving. Also it is helpful for packaging.

Oh, that's true! Marking the metal for further engraving is definitely a great option. That laser engraving is only on the surface, so I'd say it's usable in specific designs. The way I see it is more of a pattern making, rather than an alternative to a traditional engraving. And I absolutely agree, it's perfect for any customization and creating branded materials, especially packaging or business cards etc

You can still get a decent mark on the metal on the lowest speed setting. I've done a test on a vertical bar necklace and a few months later it's still holding up. I purposefully keep it in my pocket with my keys and phone to see if it would mess up the marking. Looks as clear as the day it was etched. I might try it to mark wood for whittling and wood carving.

Very interesting. I wonder how the Laser Engraver will work with gold and how small letters can be created with this machine?! I'm very interested in this Laser Engraver. I cast small gold bars and the surface of the ingots is always uneven, not smooth, I would like to see how the laser will create a pattern or letters on a non-smooth surface 🙂

In the next video I'll test it on silver and brass. I'm afraid I won't be able to test it on solid gold for now, but I think it shouldn't differ much from silver. It would be very interesting to test it on different surfaces, so thank you for that suggestion! Looking forward to sharing that video with you :) Thank you so much for tuning in today!

Hello Basia, I've been enjoying your content for awhile now and have been thinking about joining your Patreon. Do I go to the Patreon page to find out what kind of content is there and how it's different from your regular videos? Thank you, and the engraving tool looks like a useful thing to have, I look forward to another video featuring it.😊

Thank you so much! I'm very happy to hear that you've been enjoying my content and considered signing up to Patreon. If you go to my Patreon, you can see the posts, but they're locked. The titles are visible and often there's also a short teaser for the post, with more info on what it's about. The main difference is that in the posts in which I'm sharing the resources, I'm actually doing the research for you and I share actual places with links and my opinion about them. There are posts about gemstones and where to buy them, a comprehensive list of tools with links, list of basic materials with links etc. I've been making and sharing loads of design elements for jewellery making (flowers, trees, plants, birds, feathers, Halloween theme, witchy theme and more). There are currently 9 posts like that with 9 packs of designs and more on the way and these are all free for Patreons to use in their work. I'm also sharing educational posts with information about different subjects related to jewellery and gemstones. Downloadable PDFs that will help you organize your work, discount codes, detailed updates etc. You can sign up for a month and see how you like it and then decide whether you'd like to keep being signed up for a while or to cancel. I don't want you to feel pressured in any way, this really is like a tip jar, it helps me keep the channel going, since it's not a paid job. And, as a thank you, I share some extra content with Patreons and prioritize their messages, in which I always respond to questions and try to share as much info as possible. I hope this gives you a better idea :) And thank you so much for watching today!

I'm so happy to be back with another video! 🥹 Been waiting for weeks to resolve the copyright claim issue on this one. It's still in progress, but I didn't want to wait anymore. I know it will get resolved one way or another, as I do have a license to use that music, so 🤷 Anyway, thanks so much for watching! 🥰❤️

Are these examples the smallest size engraving it can do?
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing
@TheArtOfMetalsmithing 4 месяца назад
Oh, not at all! I adjusted the size to fit these sample metal charms they provided, but I'm certain that you can go smaller. I will experiment with how small I can go in the next video and I will use silver and brass as base metals. How small are you interested in? Ould that be writing or marking?
