Great video, but you didn't address all the iPads that don't have a HOME button. My search for help goes on.....

So I have an iPad stuck in restore mode - the screen with the cord going into it. I did all the steps on the apple web site. Talked to their tech support. Went to the Apple Store. Had a genius work on it. He said it was not fixable, and I could sell it for scrap for $50. I left the store. Put the IPad in my electronic scrap bag. Then I saw this video. Tried your recommendations. Boom. iPad Pro is alive again. Thank you! 🎉❤

That 3 sec count you mentioned save my life, all other site or video just mention you need to press home & power together, wait till apple appear then release the power, which is wrong.

I had this problem with my brand-new iPad and tried everything including all you said and it would not work. Then I said a prayer to have the angels help me fix it as a last-ditch effort before I would send it back. And a voice said, "Remove your Bitdefender Antivirus from your iPad". Well as soon as I did that the iPad jumped right on the internet. Something about my Bitdefender configuration was not working with the iPad because the iPad started malfunctioning after I put Bitdefender on. But I still need my anti-virus on my iPad so I will have to look into it. Bitdefender with VPN works perfectly still on my old iPad Air so I need to figure out what the problem is. So here goes my second deep dive to see how this can be resolved now. But great video tho you guys!

I started the process, I didn't have a backup, but I couldn't start the ipad and it didn't appear to charge. So this was my last option. Thank you I didn't even know there was a DFU restore. Hopefully this will fix it!

Thanks this worked, it was the count to 3 that all the other videos are missing. Unfortunately I could not backup any of my data. I don't know how anything on the device could be backed-up when it's stuck in a loop with the apple logo. Also after the recovery attempt I received an error (14) which sent me off to find the solution for that.

OMG, you already have a zillion comments like this, but here's another: Thanks to you, my 1-1/4-year old iPad that's been a brick for 8 months is now back to her former glory. I can't tell you how many hours I spent on the phone with Apple when it happened before I gave up. Your video emboldened me to try again. The other key for me was that I still couldn't get it to restore from the Finder on my MacBook - your method would get it into restore mode, but it would crash out of it before the restore could complete. So instead I ran the restore from iTunes in a Windows emulator (Parallels Desktop), and was finally able to get the iPad up and running. Then I switched back to Finder and restored my data from a backup there. Now everything's back that I lost all those months ago. I feel like I just got a brand new iPad ... for the second time!

Ipad stuck in recovery, tried everything. Threw in the towel and took to Apple authorized repair shop. They couldn't get it out of recovery and said trash it, has to be a hardware failure. I just couldn't - why would iOS update break an ipad? This tutorial got it done. I'm eternally grateful, ipad back and updated. YEAH!!! My husband's ANCIENT iPad was frozen, only able to get to Apple logo screen. Watched your soft reset, no luck. Tried next level, no luck. Finally bit the bullet and after several tries of getting iTunes on my PC to recognize his iPad.. SUCCESS! Full DFU done. He wasnt 'sure if he had backed up or not...senior moment, for sure. Luckily his iPad was set to automatically back up. He's back in action and I am VERY happy to have found your straight forward RU-vid videos. THANK YOU!

I found your video to be helpful. I got my ipad free from state program for being deaf. After three years the ipad becomes mine. They are still controlling my ipad by downloading apps onto my ipad that I DO NOT WANT on my ipad. It’s so annoying and I also can’t buy, rent, or download movies from iTunes that I have bought. Because of their stupid restrictions. My fiancé’s ipad is the same way. So I’m going to try this out and see if that gets them from stop controlling our iPads.

Question: I got this iPad that won’t show anything on the screen when I do basic troubleshooting, and it won’t turn on. I plug it into my computer won’t come up on iTunes unless I put it into DFU mode. When I try to restore it says waiting for iPad for about 10 minutes and then it gives me an error. Has anyone ran into this problem and if so how can you fix it?

AWESOME!! This finally worked after several tries and my IPad was totally dead other than the icon to charge it. So now it is charging slowly and it says in the upper right hand corner "not charging"! Any suggestions? I have the Geek Squad total package but, since I'm in NY, they aren't open for business yet!

Iv got a iPad 6th gen, everytime i try put it in DFU mode or recovery mode it doesnt want to do it. I then have to remove the cable and it automatically boots itself up. My problem is my friend's kid typed the password in to many times and its disabled so im forced to restore to factory settings.. is there another way other then recovery mode and DFU mode to fix my problem?

had same problem, but fixed issue in 5 seconds. no cables or PC required. Find some bluetooth headphones, pair them. then disconnect. complete.

Trying to do this to make my iPad get passed the Apple logo loop. When I’m in DFU, I shift click and then click restore, I choose my file. Then I click restore and it keeps switching to recovery mode at that point before it can finish the restore. What do I do?

My ipad is literally locked and I dont have any other apple products :/ I also havent had ANYONE near my ipad and havent ever made more than 2 mistakes on my passcode, why did it happen? And do I need to go to an apple store to get it fixed?

Oh my god ,, My iPad hasn’t been charging since like a week ago !!! And I couldn’t charge it . I had to sleep while holding it in the edge of the corner of my bed so that it can charge . I get so uncomfortable and later then in the morning it appears it’s charged as 38% . So when I tried the first method in the video back , it literally worked !

took me about an hour to realise that USB-C to Lightning will not allow you to enter DFU mode (on my 8th get iPAD at least). Please add a note to only use USB-A to Lightning cables??

"Waiting for iPad" - turned out iTunes doesn't like hubs or docks if you're using a laptop. Used the USB port directly on laptop and resolved the issue

if you can select update in DFU mode and not just restore, click the update will it retain everything(photos and videos) inside? I haven't backup yet and my iPhone SE is disabled, I hope to do some trick to make it able to type the passcode once again, just one time will be enough

I may have a hardware issue, troubleshooting. can you not just remotely wipe/format the ipad entirely and manually reinstall firmware/an os?

Thank you. I screwed up my own iPad (which I bought, thankfully it was only 50 bucks) because I wanted to downgrade to iOS 8 but I utilized the incorrect mode, and I iCloud locked it. I used recovery mode, which was the wrong mode, and I didn’t know that until I read some articles online about it. It wasn’t locked when I got it, I was just being a complete idiot. It’s crazy what boredom can drive you to do. I still hate myself for letting the idea overpower me, but there’s nothing I can really do about it. At first it just was stuck in the recovery mode and I had no clue what I should do, so I clicked update and restore. I was *temporarily* (the key word being “temporarily”) relieved that my iPad can turn on now. It said the hello screen, but I clicked restore, so I thought nothing of it. It was very promising until I connected to my home internet, then it said “Activation Lock”. I signed in with my Apple ID, sorry, I *tried* to sign in with the Apple ID I used on all my other iPads, but it said it was incorrect, and the first letter didn’t start with the one mine does, it started with “a”, so I knew at that moment that I literally just wasted my very own hard-earned money on something that was being sold by an honest person, but I was just being a bored idiot, and I did everything wrong, and now I paid the price for my quite frankly idiotic actions, and now I must suffer the consequences. Ah well, the iPad wasn’t really necessary, it was just a “I wanna relive the memories of this old iOS” kind of thing. The iPad in question is so cheap anyway, I could probably just purchase another one right now anyway. Yeah, the iOS 8 update isn’t working, probably because it isn’t signed by Apple anymore (iOS 8.4.1). If only I hadn’t let my curiosity get the best of me, I wouldn’t have done this. What can I do? Please throw out some ideas for me, I’m such an idiot.

first vid that got it to where I could do it regularly! Nice...now, after I choose to restore, it goes into "restoring the software" but it says "waiting for Ipad" on top because as soon as I told it to restore, it turned itself off and lost sync with my laptop. It comes back up with the attach the USB cord logo and its just sitting here with the "waiting for ipad" on top. Should it be doing something? My ipad is stuck in a power loop: white screen with apple logo comes up for 5 seconds, then it reboots and loops for as long as the battery will hold out. If I plug it into Itunes it will eventually return to "restore" screen but whatever I choose to do, reset or restore, it will power off and start the loop again. Im at a loss.

I have an iPad 12.9" (A1584). Got to the restore process, but while "waiting for iPad...", I got the "iPad could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (21)." I've tried multiple times both on Mac and PC. Both have the same errors. Any ideas?
