Yesterday I went to my first Quaker meeting and the introductional material contained advice on how to worship before choosing to break the law, and it feels so much in the wheelhouse of this channel
Just to be clear, those types of zip ties are not typically used by law enforcement. They use Flex cuffs, which are thicker and often have a bit of steel wire molded in the pastic. While the friction method wont work, a small pair of jewelry grade wire clippers will. The proper tool to remove them is a Scarab tri-fold cutter. They are cheap, low profile, and collapsable for safety.
Pro tip: don’t wear loafers to a protest. Sneakers are fine, boots are best. You shouldn’t have to fear reprisal at a protest but… come on, let’s be grown ups. The police aren’t trying to protect anyone at a protest.
I've had enough interactions with cops while minding my own business as a law abiding citizen to know that there are plenty of reasons they'll make up to cuff a person.
"I smell weed" is entirely unfalsifyable, and counts as probable cause to strip search someone where I live. Talking from a lot of personal experience here.
I had a cop not give a reason at all, he just attacked me while I was trying to talk to him. He refused to tell my why at the scene, and then made up a story about me trying to run away in his report.
There's an old saying about how "all 'good' cops keep probable cause in their back pockets". It exists for a reason. Accusing you of smelling like weed or alcohol, claiming you look or sound intoxicated, or, my personal favourite, pretending you match the description of a gas station (or whatever made up bullshit is convenient wherever you find yourself) robbery suspect are all classics. And most people who've interacted with the police in any official capacity enough have fallen for them at least once before they wizened up. They're lying every single time. But it hardly matters once you're in cuffs.
Resources like this are invaluable, I had the cops twist my broken arm behind my back and zip tie it in place in 2020, I recommend anyone who attends a protest familiarize themselves with how to deal with these things
I'm glad this platform is still populated by kind people. I'm glad I live in a world where people can still learn to live, thrive, and escape a facist if need be. Ty Leon Great vid.
5:03 "Just don't commit a crime" - I've seen many videos of (a fraction of incidents) of cops raiding the WRONG ADDRESS. The cops go there, kick in the door, and arrest everyone because they can't read or don't know how to count floors or don't understand the difference between east and west, etc. I guess that serves those people right for committing the crime of living at an address that the cops might mistake for the address on the warrant (which includes literally ALL addresses). 😒
Exactly, there's literally no way to live life in a way that guarantees a cop won't "oops eto bleh" you, unless I guess you live in a metal cube deep in the Appalachian mountains or something
One method with the ziptie you neglected is shimming. You can utilize the excess of the ziptie (if it hasn't been cut) or if you carry something thin and angular, you can actually lift the mechanism that holds the teeth and free yourself that way... or if you just want to reuse a ziptie.
As the saying goes: When the fun stops, stop. Nice concise information in the event you are messing about and get stuck but dont remember the safe word.
Good vehicle for this message. Also I’m a locksport enthusiast, so getting out of these things has been part of my repertoire for years. Chain handcuffs are a piece of cake, hinged cuffs are a different matter altogether. Good video!
There is an EMS device you can buy for your Keychain that comes with a spring loaded Window Punch and a Seat Belt Cutter. The cutter is a small razor but is protected on the sides with plastic so its easier to slide it over the surface needing cut without risking cutting oneself. My preferred brand is Res-q-me, made in the USA and comes in a variety of subdued or easy to find in the dark colors!
Hey man I've been watching your videos for awhile now and I just wanted to let you know I think you're a total badass. I mean telling people how to escape handcuffs? Awesome we need more of this but so few people are bout it, but you, you're bout it.
Addendum: Modern car trunks have an emergency release that glows in the dark. Otherwise use the tire Jack to pop the trunk like Beavis and Butthead. Don’t try to kick out a side window. Place the prongs of the removable headrest between the window and door and pull. The leverage will shatter the window. To get out of duct tape, use the same method as the zip ties. Oh, and in case it wasn’t already clearly stated, get handcuff keys … plural … in case they find the first one.
@@zim_the_vixen usually car headrests have that little button you push in to adjust them, if you keep pulling though the whole thing is removed, and the metal prongs are exceptional at breaking car windows - It's been a while since I've watched beavis and butthead, but I think they had a scissor-lift style jack, that they kept cranking up until the trunk latch couldn't handle the strain
Never doing anything wrong still isn't foolproof, as the example you gave about the cops being distracted by a more important-to-their-job thing demonstrated. Police are just as fallible as any other human, and how many times have we forgotten that someone else was there because something important came up?
I knew someone whose mom was serving life for a murder she didn’t commit so not doing anything wrong is never a guarantee with the criminal punishment system.
If they're behind your back, pull your wrists out under your feet to get them in front. It's easy if you're limber enough. Assuming your captor isn't watching, of course.
This is a funny mine craft video. Not mentioned is if cuffs are "double locked", this impeads the shiv method mentioned in the video, usually the Combine Civil Protection don't take the precaution to double lock the restraints except during transport to Nova Prospect. If they do double lock, hope you have a key. Watch out for struggling too, as after you do free your self, wrist bruises can result in being re acquired by the Combine.
Practice this ahead of time if you have your own cuffs. It is hard enough to bend a paperclip and pick a lock with your hands bound when you are not under stress.
True true. I learned that from figuring out how to break into my car. 💀 Ive locked myself out a lot. Now... I gained the ability of unlocking most kinds of cars, via the method. I wont break into anyones cars, but for your info. Car locks that are like a stub and theres no divet, those are more secure.
@@picachugirl2036 Right, but now imagine having to break into your car with your hands behind your back on a time crunch lol! Also, I leave a key attached to my handcuffs in case I get stuck while practicing.
Man, I *had* some handcuffs. Pink and fluffy, but still, handcuffs. Then we moved house and the bedside table they were in got thrown in a skip by a friend. He didn't even bother to look inside. Loads of stuff was in there besides the cuffs including my wife's contraceptive pills and the remote control for the colour changing LED light. This was like 8 years ago and I'm still mad.
As for a knife on a zip tie, there are safety knives shaped like hooks that are near impossible to cut yourself with. They are also pretty cheap in most cases. I guess you can just carry a smaller version of those in one of your back pockets. One not big enough to be noticed and taken away.
Honestly most of those don't work. I recently spent a good 15 minutes trying to open my handcuffs. They're not love-toy-handcuffs. They're actual police handcuffs, they don't even have chain links anymore but fixed angle hinges. that lock your hands away from one another, the keyhole being on the inside so your fingers can't reach it. I was able to open it with a hairpin and my mouth after those 15 minutes of trying around. Realistically cops would've intervened at that point.
You can switch out literally any convenience store for this, but it's just fun saying Wawa. I won't live in Pennsylvania forever, and I will miss my local Wawa for sure.
@renegadecut9875 hey man I'm not judging. I can literally see a wawa from my window. 😄 it's just one of those things you don't hear often on the tube. And it made me feel just a tiny bit seen. lol keep up the good work!
a while back someone sent a link to handcuff warehouse in a kink chat i was in, and, when i clicked in, i was surprised to see that this sex toy shop was encouraging you to monogram your handcuffs and was claiming to "save lives." i'd never seen life-saving bondage before. turns out its an official US police restraints website, and they're selling handcuff keys for $2 each.
Great video. What could be better than info on how to escape "The Mans" shackles (if only the literal ones and not the figurative).😉 After a quick review of vids on the subject both handcuffs and zip ties can be defeated w/ thin shims because the both have the weakness of a ratchet. Handcuffs need a thin small shim, zip ties you're better off with a jewelers screwdriver to push the pawl backwards to release the pawl from the teeth.
Dude being in handcuffs is painful and humiliating. Borderline inhumane unless youre actually a VO. And getting arrested and searched is already plenty embarrasing. Thanks for putting stuff like this out. It reminds me of the best literature ive read. Keep it up!
What? No mention of the toenail clipper method of breaking zipties? Toenail clippers are legal to carry in most circumstances (That I know of. Please confirm before bringing them to a protest) and cut through zipties like butter.
Honestly... Ive had enough close calls traveling alone. This is all good to know, for anarchists, women, and everyone in between. Plus I can finally get the handcuffs off my late-dads truck and keep them
I used to think i could never get in trouble if i never did anything wrong. I had a landlord who called the cops on myself and my spouse because they thought we were breaking into their laundry machines for the change. There was video that we didn’t get to see until 2 hours of questioning had passed. We could have been fully arrested and put in jail before even seeing the video. Once we did see it, even with the poor video quality it was very apparent that it wasn’t us. This could have been much worse and costly for us and other than where we lived, we had no connection to the crime. We never even used the laundry there. Anyone can have this or worse happen to them.
Hey, @renegade cut. I'm going to what I hope will be a big protest at the end of September. It's in a city quite far from my hometown, I don't have alot of money, I'm going alone, *It's loosely and poorly organized* and It's the first time I've gone to a large protest. I'm nervous because of all of these vulnerabilities. Could you make a video sometime in the next month regarding smart preparation for protest beginners? I know of course that the laws are vastly different from place to place and depending on variable circumstances, but id appreciate your general advice or shared knowledge from experience. Tips, do's and dont's, for people like me who want to namelessly stand up and be seen and heard, representing the angry majority who can't or won't be there instead of just continuing to passively accept ongoing corruption and economic injustice of a nature that's consequences will manufacture poverty in the region for the next 90 years. Vote harder after its too late or giving up isn't an acceptable answer to me, and it shouldn't be the response to ongoing irreversible destruction that could be stopped and i would hate myself if I were to continue standing down passively whilst traveling down the dark and dangerous dead end road of apathy and eventually mourning. Most people I've tried to get to join me are discouraging and believe it's pointless and dangerous, but I vehemently disagree that there's no point, and doing FA is more dangerous than speaking up. The way things are going, the things I know, i believe in the very near future there's going to be a growing number of injustices piling up all at once and people are going to have to fight for or against the powers that be or the powers that want to be, and this seems like a good time to get ready. I'd appreciate some advice from you for people like me.
Another thing about handcuffs, they’re made of cheap and very light metals. The toughest part is the chain. If you can jingle the cuffs until the chain ends up tangled up on itself so that it’s taut, you can try and flex and pull your wrists apart and the weaker connection point where the chain attaches to the cuffs should break
Lotta modern handcuffs have shim protection... and if I'd been cuffed in the US the last thing I'd want to do is try and escape out of them and away... easy way to get shot, I imagine :( "RESISTING ARREST!" "blam" For us Europeans though: Yeah thanks for the tips, since I got radicalised as a middle-aged dude I actually can't be certain I won't end up cuffed in the near future thx
Leon out here doing the Lord's work. And to think this channel was once about something as trivial as movie reviews. I hope fascism will leave you be a while longer, dude. I wish you all the peace you can get!
With every upload I question how long they will allow this kind of info on here. Of course we all know that some 'patriotic folks' spew much more dangerous and awful things - but my worries are not based on authorities following logic, obviously. Thank you. This is valuable for anyone with a heart to care and a brain to think.
Uhh I would want a demo on that pulling plastic handcuffs tighter to smash them idea. I can't just trust that it's going to work without seeing it, I'd be afraid of just strangling/injuring my hands for no benefit
Commercial zip ties can be easily disarmed with a pin, e.g. a safety pin, as well. Look closely and note the little "tongue" inside the boxy part and how it rubs up against the ridged surface of the tie. Sometimes it's easier to go in through the back and sometimes the front, but either way, wiggle the point of the pin inside so it lifts the tongue away from the ridges, and the tie will simply slide off with minimal force. For some zip ties such as very small ones or very high-end ones this might be more difficult and require a little bit of practice. The best part might be that the tie is usually still usable afterward, so you can re-attach it or keep it for your own use depending on the situation.
