How to Exaggerate in Vietnamese | Learn Vietnamese with TVO 

I use only “quá” to make exaggerate expression. I leaned a lot this time too.

In English we have a saying like vui nhu Tet - it's "like a kid at Christmas". So you might ask if someone was happy? and the answer could be "Yeah, he was like a kid at Christmas"

maybe you can find better results by searching "hyperbolic phrases", such as "raining cats and dogs", "so hungry i could eat a horse", "sleep like a log", etc. although personally i don't use these kinds of phrases, they feel a bit dated. i find it much more entertaining to just make up my own, or use some meme or pun

Use the structure "vãi + Noun" or "adj + vãi (Noun)" guys! Much more easier, common and friendly. *but be careful with it.

First of all,thanks for the new lessons of Vietnamese exaggerating phrases. I really needed them to sound more like the native speaker. But,on the other hand,your pronunciations of the words, caught my attention. Why? Because I have been studying Vietnamese language for a while now and I noticed that some of the pronunciations different from the lessons I learned. You must be from the North and the lessons I have been studying must be the South. Correct me if I’m wrong. Additionally. I wish, I could learn Vietnamese with you in person,thus, I can pick up more quickly. Thanks

Thanks for the video. re: examples with 'thối': compare 'stinking rich' in English, which is as arbitrary as 'buồn ruột thối'. Idiomatic (at least in the UK) examples for the adjectives at the end of the video: đắt: that costs an arm and a leg! | rẻ: that's a steal | vui: happy as Larry; over the moon; chuffed | buồn: down in the dumps; feeling blue | gần: a stone's throw away; up your arse (especially of drivers behind you) | xa: miles away | tối: black as night; pitch black; can't see a thing | sáng: blinding; dazzling | mệt: knackered; ready to drop | mỏi: [difficult to think of one, but you could say "I feel like I'm falling apart" with similar meaning] | chua: [can't think of anything natural, but people associate very sour things with puckered lips, so you could invent something like "face-puckeringly sour"] | cay: burning hot; a ring-stinger [vulgar] | ngọt: sickly sweet [negative] | mặn: [can't think of one, I would just say "so salty"] | sạch: clean as a whistle; sparkling clean | hết: all gone, clean out (of x: "we're clean out of toothpaste"), fresh out (of x).

@2:28-I've heard my U.S friends say 'Chilly on the nipple'. 'Freeze your ass off' I believe is common in many English speaking countries.

Great video! Actually, we also say "my stomach is growling" in English to mean we're hungry... but that's common so you probably already knew that. But if you want to be really edgy, when it's cold say "It's a bit nipply!". It's a play on words: many people say "It's nippy" to mean it's cold (nippy is a weird word and doesn't mean anything else), but nipply brings to mind what happens to nipples when it's cold... so it's weird AND cute! 🤣 Also, probably don't say that in a formal situation 🤔

In English, we use metaphors like "her hands are cool plums" and/or "stone eyes". Anything can be exaggerated with a good vocabulary. 🙂
