Things are going great . I just bought my first 4 stroke yesterday. I'm going from an 02 CR 250r to an 06 CRF 450 and I'm very excited about that. Great info in the video by the way.
Hi Billy or Ben, I'd like to get some clarification - you said you used 180 max bpm minus your age. Where does that 180 come from? Maybe that is why your number plate is 180? :-) Is 180 specific to moto cardio training and/or MAF principles?? I've always been told 220 minus your age gets you a max heart rate.
It's the maf method from Phil Mafetone. You can also use the basic formula to find your zone 2. I just find the maf method pretty easy and accurate. Sorry I missed this comment.
For cardio If I'm not riding I usually do 4-5 days a week cycling for about an hour at around that 75% rate. Not including gym days which are 2-3 days. If I ride then I do less gym and cario obviously. Is that too much?
I’d drop the intensity of your cycling down. You’ll still get endurance benefits staying in the 100+ range. Listen to your body, that’s a pretty heavy load if I’m reading it right? 2-3 days gym, including cycling and riding? I personally prefer to do 45min-1hour around 120-135 bpm. With that range I don’t feel too fatigued when I ride and still get the benefits without trashing my body for riding.
@@180mxtraining7 yes im at 2-3 days gym and 4-5 days cycling at about an hour at an average of 118-120 bpm. I'm few months back from an injury and my endurance sucks right now. i try to ride 2 days a week when I can
@@andrewjones3808 I would probably ease up on the gym work. It just seems like too much of a load to me. I do 20-30 minutes motos when I ride and don’t have too many issues. I pedal 3 times a week, ride typically twice a week. I might do one day of body weight strength training, maybe. Maybe replace a couple of the gym days with mobility training or yoga. Your cycling intensity is right where it needs to be, just seems like a heavy load, so when you’re riding, your body is probably just worn out.
@@mccowan06 my apologies, we realized that after we recorded. I have done a video on how to train that is recent and I have another one where Ben and I talked on zoom. On a computer this one was hard to hear, you can hear it better on a phone. It was my second video ever, it's been a learning process. How to train for motocross is the recent one.
@180mxtraining7 I wasn't meaning to criticize, this is one of the top videos I have seen on this subject and I just wanted to make sure I was getting everything. I will check out the other video. Absolutely excellent content sir, I appreciate it.
@@mccowan06 no worries, the audio is horrible. I contemplated taking it down, but if you can actually find a way to listen, there's some good stuff in there, thank you!
I know, the audio is horrible. To sum it up, primarily do zone 2 training. Save your "hard" days for when you're on the bike. You can use zone 2 hr or the MAF method when you train. HIIT workouts won't really help at all for motocross. You need to build an endurance base, and you do that through zone 2 training. I have another one where I talked about zone 2 training and another about training with Ben Moberg over zoom. Those two videos are way better audio, and sun yo the same concept
Stupid joke on my part. I’m actually learning a lot from your videos. I’ve been doing it (training) wrong and have had some bad races so thanks for pointing me in the right direction.
