I was worried about replacing my high-end older oasis with this one ru-vid.comUgkxCgPI5O2AtmcHq9SJhgsCGbpAzJAJfrJp but it is surprisingly light and the screen resolution is just as good. I never had the warm light on my old kindle, but i do not use it on the ipad so I will probably not need it. I think the only thing I'll miss is the self-adjusting light, but this is so worth it!

Just got 8HD for my son, tried a 128GB didn’t work and returned for a 256 Samsung Select Evo that was recommended in another video. Both after formatting show 0GB out of 0 when I choose as internal storage but will show if I choose external. Wont let me use as internal at all which is very frustrating and one of the main reasons we chose it. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

thanks for posting this. I've dealt with SD cards often, but preferred to see which way it should be facing (up or down) before installing. It's not difficult to damage one of those little cards. Oh, and like the accent, too. :)

Hi!.....I have a Fire HD 8 and have been using a SanDisk SDHC 32GB Memory Card as Portable storage. On power-up it has previously shown the disk icon on top left of the screen, which I swiped to see the contents…..recently it dosen’t appear on the screen on power up. Would you know why this may be? Thanks!

We are glad to hear we are not the only ones who have seen this behaviour change. We think it is due to a recent Fire OS update for the tablet. We can still see the content saved on the card, there is just no notification up in the shade. Thanks for watching!

When you reformat, are you then able to download videos & pictures from the silk browser? I have that same memory card & an hd fire 8 but I don't have the option to reformat it. Where can I reformat it & how?

Have followed this video and it still is not working. When I go into settings, it says to mount the SD card , I hit that and still nothing. For some reason or another it is not taking it. Guess it is money wasted, just my luck.

Ive heard that adding an SD card makes the kindle fire slower.. was this true for you?

This definitely hasn't been the case for us. It may be true if you use a low quality and low speed microSD card, but if you use a decent one it shouldn't be an issue. Thanks for watching!

I used a 64g micro sd on my older Fire but found it difficult to 'see' what was on the card. I had music movies ect on it but the file exp. app was so inferior. Do you have one that is more efficent at seeing what is one the card? Thanks!

I have the 9th gen fire 10, fully updated software. I have 256gb but it's only showing 25gb per profile, even on the main profile. And I have no idea how expand/allocate more memory to each profile. There are 3 profiles 2 for kids. I'm techie but really lost. Great job amazon.

I believe the problem is that Fat32 only works properly at 32GB maximum, and the tablet only formats at Fat32. I'm having the same type of problem. Above 32GB, exFat or NTFS is required. This is what I'm reading everywhere. I can't copy my music library because the Fat32 can't propery handle the SD card.

It says in the add on Amazons website that you can take it all the way up to 1 terabyte. That's what I wanna do.

@@Neolithika How well it works is another issue. It might format it. But, it uses Fat32, which is only meant for 32GB maximum. I am getting huge problems and errors trying to copy my music library to my 128GB sd Card on my Fire Tablet. It will copy a dozen small movies, but it can't handle or properly sort even one thousand music files. If I copy them really slow, it will complete the copy transfer but on;y show 173 files of the one thousand. It is junk. THe formatting system can't properly handle a sd card above 32GB.

It will work. How well it works is another issue. The tablet formats at Fat32, which is meant to handle a 32GB maximum hard drive or SD drive. Above 32GB, exFat or NTFS is needed. My music library can't be sorted properly with Fat32 and I keep getting constant errors, and the sd card can't properly list my files. It is a mess. This tablet is a piece of junk, if you have a large music library.

Mine just refuses to go in. it catches on the right side, no matter what I do. And I've made sure I've got it facing the right way. It's the 128 G card that I got from Amazon by clicking in the link under Storage, so it's the right one. It's certainly frustrating. But that's no fault of your tutorial, which is plain and clear.

You can't force it. You have to jiggle it a bit to get it to seat right on the spring. If you try to force it, you might jam the mechanism and it might not ever work. Once you feel it moving on the spring resistance, then you can push it all the way in, until it is level with the board, or as far as it will go in. Then you release it a bit, and it will come out a bit, and lock in place.

@@chasugc3740 No, there's something wrong with mine. I've been jiggling it from the first time it didn't go all the way in. And I just tried again. I've jiggled various ways, tried to lean it each possible way. It connects with the spring and goes down, but not all the way. The notched side will only go so far down. It does, thankfully, push back out as it should. It just won't go all the way in on that side. I may have to get a new Fire. But thank you for responding!

@@KarynHill You may have jammed the mechanism and bent the latch. If it goes down on the spring, and doesn't reach the bottom, it will just come out again. It needs to go down on the spring, all the way to the bottom, then it will engage the latch when you release it to lock. If you bend the latch, by forcing it in, then it won't go all the way down, and it won't latch when you let go of it, because the latch is bent, underneath the SD card. It is like many things, you can't force it.

@@chasugc3740 I promise I haven't forced it. Jiggled, yes. Wiggles, yes. But I haven't forced it. I think it's just a lemon. Stuff happens. If I had tried to use an SD card when I first got it and could have returned it but I didn't. I know I should always check everything about new tech I buy. And I got it to work in my old one quite easily.

@@KarynHill Yeah, I intially had the same problem with it. Most people talk about this issue. It should move freely on the spring. It is difficult to get it going initially, but after that, it should move freely, without obstruction. If there is obstruction, I still believe that the latch was damaged. I actually returned mine because they don't work properly in other ways. My major problem was that the file management system is Fat32, and it can't use SD cards over 32 GB. The listing for it on Amazon says that it can handle up to 1TB, but this isn't true. It formats as Fat32, and the maximum SD card size for Fat32 is 32GB. I tried three different SD cards, a 64GB, and two different 128GB SD cards. One of them was brand new. One of them came from my Samsung phone. It had a 128GB SD card, and I had over 50GB of music working perfectly on it, until it fell and broke. I couldn't even put a lot of music on the Fire Tablet, because Fat32 can't properly allocate the filing system on large SD cards. I got constant errors on the SD card, even when I formatted it as fat32 on my computer. I gave up and returned it. I got a much better tablet for about the same cost, that works with Android. It seems to allow exFat. It also doesn't have that spring system. Good luck.

This tablet only uses a Fat32 format filing system which only supports 32GB maximum sd card. While, it formats fine above 32GB, the actual stability and usage of the drive is very questionable. I keep getting file copying errors, while trying to copy my 45GB music library with 11,746 files. Fat32 can handle over 65,000 files to one directory, so that isn't the problem. Above 32 GB to one directory, or even, any amount of files, they don't copy properly, no matter which of my three SD cards I use, be it 64GB, or the two 128 GB. I'll copy 1,000 music files, and the card will say it was completed, but only show 173 maximum. This thing seems like a piece of junk.

Do you know how to download Amazon Prime movies on the sd-card? I inserted the sd-card correctly and it is listed in the settings. On other devices I get the option to download the movies to the sd-card in the prime video settings, but on this device I don't. Does anybody know why?

I have the same issue. My internal storage is now full because I thought I was downloading Prime movies to the sd card. I’m not sure how to move the files to the sd card to free up my internal storage.

Now many of your apps will not transfer . You can transfer data which leaves you with little control over the real memory hog your internal memory which runs out in time. The point is to use this sd card to take over for your lack of internal memory but Amazon won't let you do that because they want you paying for their cloud service. A racket ! So you have to override this system to get Google Play as well as alter how your sd card is allowed to take over your larger files. Until that is done you will get limited use of this card.
