I am so glad I found your channel 5 years ago Jeff! I am using your expertise and setting up a new family property. I feel my actions all have a specific purpose! About 30 or more acres of the 40 will be all deer all the time!

We are blessed enough to have a great mixture or pasture fields, foodplots, and a good mixture of thick and open hardwoods. Our farm is roughly a mile from yearly soy bean fields. Every year we watch several older bucks in the summer months in the soy bean fields. 2/3rds of the bucks normally make their way back to our farm around the middle of September. We do have bucks that live on the farm year round but it was always amazing that they always come back to the best winter food sources which is on our farm, and also our farm has relatively low pressure so normally the bucks that make it back to the farm for the fall survive the year and get to grow old

Jeff your philosophy made sense to me. We bought property last year. We put in fall food only. Had 2 separate doe groups 4 in one and 5 in the other. Each doe group took over a food plot. As the fall food thrived we brought in another doe group of 5. The best part was we had 35 bucks on camera from oct 1st til end of Dec! 4 landed up on the tailgate! Planted some Pear and chestnuts today. And started converting a 10 acre cow pasture to wildlife habitat. Thanks for the Videos!

Thanks for the reminder to not put in to much summer food. Cleaning up my small clover plots now and making more bedding. Gonna start spraying after turkey season here in southern Ohio. Gos bless and hope all is well! Keep the great info coming! Thanks for what you do.

Thanks as always for the info Jeff. Doe r important for sure but in moderation for sure. Rye is my best producer. Best in fall and spring when they need it.

Great info Jeff! Current issues with doe on my SW Wisco land. I am taking out almost all clover on my land, and adding fall food in my plots instead.

Do you recommend a specific video that details what you plant in your plots during the summer to enable successful fall food? We tried to plant a mix of summer and fall food last year and saw a huge doe/fawn population increase but very little buck activity like you said would happen but I also know we need to improve our soil and shouldn’t throw away a growing season. Any recommendations would be appreciated

Jeff, on my 80 i have doe's year round five in particular i see almost every day ....I plant winter rye in the fall and no summer plot. They have plenty in the summer to browse. Do u recommend anything for summer or stick with whats been working.

I’m trying to build soil quality and add nitrogen during summer so I am planting in the spring. Some of that soil building plants do attract doe groups.

I have 16 acres of land surrounded by big woods with some outlaying dairy or hay fields a couple miles away. Will these tactics work here as well? I have permission to hunt the surrounding land as well, neighbors don’t hunt. Chris

I'm putting in 100% summer food then converting the plot closest to my stand (about half) to fall food. If i plant 365 threat would i have to spray it out the following year to convert it back to fall food?

Jeff do you find that doe tend to use food plots a little less during the rut because bucks chase them out?

I see things a little differently I have bucks AND does all summer but it never becomes a issue during the season and killing bucks. In the last 5 years the does seem to spread out during the start of the season and I haven’t noticed the bucks shying away.

Love the content, Jeff! Can’t wait to put some of the great advice into effect when I finally purchase some hunting land. In the meantime, I’ve got a question. My dad has 60 acres, about 30-40 of which is farm field. We’ve got a lake border and slough sandbar that acts as a decent barrier, but we do have hunters around us. I’ve noticed a lot of bucks in summer/early fall that don’t tend to stick around in the season. Have you noticed that simply the addition of fall food helps with that without reducing summer food? We have a small, 1.5 acre plot that has always been planted at the same time as the rest of the 30+ acres in spring and am wondering if planting that with a fall based growth time could help in holding the herd a bit better or if the one answer-all is eliminating summer food. Any response is greatly appreciated! I think I’ll give it a shot regardless just to see what happens but hoping you could provide some insight on what you’ve noticed in that sense.

We have a 250 acre dairy farm in southern VT that is about 50/50 agg fields mixed with pasture, hardwood forests, and apple trees. Being that we have a working farm we always have Summer Deer food. I definitely have a lot more does than bucks on our land. How can I make things work in my favor?

How do you know when there’s enough doe. ?. Say on an 80 acre parcel with 4 acres of food plots?

Where I hunt in the south there is no ag around. Would you stay away from protein feeders during the summer as well?

When following your ultimate no till program, how do you prevent young buckwheat from becoming a summer food source?

In our area of Indiana it is 90% ag land and its always been a great place to hunt due to all the edges and fencerows, creek bottoms and food. The deer seem to bed in the darndest places. Seems they like to face downwind in the more open parts of the wood lots or open picked corn so they can see/smell anything coming? So we concentrated on switch grass to hide our approach from many different angles pending on what the wind is doing. Fortunately the farm is on five different county blocks so we have plenty options. Morning or evening or all day. All are within 5 minute drive but a long walk when you get there. We kinda have to hunt all the way to our spots if in daylight because you never know where they'll be. Most of my big bucks have been taken quarter mile from the nearest tree,midday. I've crawled almost 3 hours to get within shooting range in picked giant cornfield. Was worth the trouble.

Jeff what do you do with the plot? Leave it bare dirt all summer?
