How to export a .stl file from an 8-bit image stack using Fiji. Please make sure you are using the most up to date version of Fiji.
Steps
Load Images
-- Load Fiji
-- File - Import - Imagine Sequence - Select Folder containing images
Pre-Processing
--Process - Subtract background (only select "light background" if your object is darker than its surroundings)
-- Image - adjust - Threshold (auto)
Export From 3D Viewer
-- Plugins - 3DViewer
-Display as: Surface
-Color: Optional
-Threshold: 50
-Resampling Factor: (This is what determines the complexity of the model. For a 1:1 ratio, change this to 1. If Fiji crashes, raise this number in increments of 1)
-- File - Export Surface - STL Binary
