I'd like to ask for your advice, pls. I would like to extend my driveway by 20x20' by 6" depth. In the summer i like to add a portable car port and instead of being held by cinderblock or sand bangs; I like to drill flat anchor hooks in the cement. So would it be wise to have the concrete cure and set then drill afters *or* to just drop it on top of the fresh soft concrete so drilling isn't needed? Which will hold stronger and without crack in the long run in Connecticut weather.

I’m about to try my first concrete project, a 6’x10’ slab, and have some questions, if you don’t mind me asking. 1) The slab will be in a corner with the house foundation on 2 sides and a wooden fence on another side. I can only put a form board next to the fence and on on the short open side. With nothing to rest a screed board on the foundation sides, how do I screed and level it? 2) I live in the mid-South. Is a gravel base needed? My local concrete supplier recommended it but I see many videos, like this one, without the base. 3) How do I edge the back section of the slab by the fence if the mix has not yet set up enough to put my weight on the slab. Do I just try to edge as we pour then come back and try to do a finish edge after it sets up? Thanks!
