I think people for get that there is more than one way to skin a cat, i am a big fan of AIK and GImageX, GImagex is great if you haven't got AIK installed or you are on another box. Thanks for the great video bri.
I know this video is old, now even zip7 allows you to add programs in wim file. But when you run the new iso file the new programs are not listed in programs files. When you go into X drive they are there - so this clearly shows that wim file has been modified. However you can execute newly programs from X drive. But why does'nt it show on desktop enviroment? I am running windows 10 and Gimagex is bit of a hit and miss.
Hi BritecI have a windows 8 computer the hard drive configuration is not set to the factory default. Restore Aborted I used my recovery discs but still having the same problem.Any solutions or videos this is my first post thanks for the time you take in making your videos.
I was wondering the same... is there like, an Archiver program that can just add files? Like with normal Zip... all this mounting and WIAK installation is a bit long just to change one file.
thats very nice but you make example by adding and deleating but can i edit wrting on dll files in wim file beco. there is ather files same as in the iso cd
I’m trying to remove the n variants out of the win file to save a little space and not really anyone uses those it’ll remove the entry point but it moves it to a “[DELETED]” folder with in the wim file but I can delete that folder so it’s basically pointless the file girth is still there but the entries are out
Hope you could help out solve a problem I have, I have a Laptop Dell inspiron 1525 running on windows vista. I recently en-counted a problem,every time I start up my computer it will start normally and when i come to my start up windows i will need to type CTRL ALT DEL to start up my Task Manager . After doing this my computer runs perfectly smooth without any problems,can you explain why I'm encountering such problems........ TQ
ANY TIPS? i purchased a VCD-DVD USB video capture device, it works fine with it's own application however when i try to use it with "windows movie maker" the capture device is nowhere to be seen... how can i make it share the captures with movie maker??? would appreciate any help!!!
Do you know how recovery win files from recovery partition, where all partitions have been deleted, except the factory recovery partition? Can that be done?
Thanks for making this video. But I have a problem, when I open the WIM file that I want to edit, I get this: "ERROR: Unable to mount image. ERROR: An attempt was made to load a program with an incorrect format." And there's nothing wrong with the iso or the cd. I have unchecked the "read-only"-box.
Yes it is still on a warranty. Or should I try fix the problem myself. I have a program called pc tune up and it says I have 19 registry problems it's says some are corrupt and most of them are active x thing. Is there a free program I can use to fix this. Please help. Thanks in advance
Nice video! I need some help and thought about the following issues. But i have some problems. Within the install.wim (windows 7) are 4 folders (1,2,3,4) if i open it with 7zip. The four folders seems to be identical but are different. So i have four folders with program files, program files (x86), windows and so forth. If i followed your steps and mount the install.wim i only see one folder but i don´t know which? I tried the tool above and followed your steps carefully. I started a virtual machine and recognized that nothing installed. The changed .iso size is different and if i open it i see that the install.wim iso also different, but windows doesn´t installed the changes i made. All folder structures are the same. Beneath the install.wim (sources) files i recognized some files (install_windows 7 homebasic, premium, pro, ultimate). Does this mean that the four folders within the install.wm depends on the version im installing? How can i edit all folders? If i mount it i can edit and save changes but don´t know which folder. Do you understand my problem? Thank you very much!
Hey Britec, it works fine in boot.wim but there are some error on install.wim file i.e. you dont have permisson to change, so and so............... please upload the video how to edit window 7 install.wim file

nice work but have a big ? maybe you can help me with ok in windows xp/vista/7 and 8 i whant to make it so it will split windows so perflog/programdata and windows is in C: Drive and User / Program files and the x86 are in D: Drive i like it to do this on a fresh install what file or exe do i need to fix that so it instals the way i whant insted of messing around in regedit all day to chang location any help wold be awsome plz and thx

Hi, but, what about the different WIM files?????? In your Life DVD, you have at least winpe.wim. In "Sources", there are too - isn't it? winpe.wim and boot.wim. In other - NOT life images, you have also Install.wim too ??????? How about THAT ? Btw: This can be done, using DISM - at least from Windows 8 to 10.... On my Win 7, i installed Windows Kits 10 and the ADK PE. Therefore, i can (must) use the commandline tool from Windows Kits 10.... Anyway: It's NOT possible, to add apps in any image - isn't it? (Ich lasse mich gerne belehren:-)
IM SO AGGRAVATED THAT I HAVE SEEN TWO VIDS BY YOUR GROUP, ONE FOR USING 7ZIP AND THIS ONE AND NO MATTER HOW I FOLLOW THESE DIRECTIONS STEP BY STEP MY ****** STAYS .WIM FILES.... I JUST DONT GET IT!
