Guys how long it takes to get rid of post acne scars? I’m 1 month into accutaine, getting less breakouts but don’t know if by the end of the course post acne will be just gone? I never been under the sun this summer, but don’t use anything apart from moisturiser on my face ( maybe moisturiser will help a bit with scars but it’s not like vitamin C that specifically heals) I wonder if ll just wait and clean my skin with with cleanser 2 times a day, will the bad layer with post acne just go away a by itself?
@@RedRumble14accutane doesn’t get rid of acne spots only the main acne bumps and attacks from the inside, you need like serum and stuff like that to rehydrate you skin and also like the girl in the video said sun screen.
@@adrianmaravel2319 thanks, well redness should fade away with time it seems. Slowly but it fades. And then yeah maybe some vitamin C sebum or cosmetic procedures
@@RedRumble14 yes redness and dark spots fade with time but serum and sun screen just make it disappear faster if you choose the right one for your skin.
@@adrianmaravel2319 true. But I’m hesitant as to whether I can use vitamin c /serum while on accutaine or not. Cuz skin is pretty sensitive and dry now - so maybe this ingredients will cause irratition or burn skin. So I’m only using a moisturiser now ( I hope it stimulates the renewal of the skin as well) Sunscreen is huge u are right, i never knew that sun makes spots darker and harder to get rid of, I thought it heals spots🤪. I don’t use sunscreen cuz I paranoicly avoid the sun ( never been under the sun for more than 30 seconds this summer) /and honestly afraid of putting extra stuff on my face not to clog the pores. However, that tip I generally very good, if I have to be under the sun, I’m 100% using sunscreen
Yes, number 3 is by far the most difficult one. We used to buy all sorts of skincare products and use them all and tend to notice results in just one day, which will never happen.
Mine was hormonal acne. It took me a long time to understand that my acne wasn’t caused by external factors. And the dermatologist actually saved me from an undiagnosed health issue. Please be mindful and don’t underestimate stress and emotional health as these affect our physical health too. The outside will always reflect what is going on inside our body and mind
Mine was also hormonal... I tried a lot of skin products in a span of 3 months but nothing worked..then I left my skin to itself..just took care of body and it healed itself on its own ... trust your body ✨
@@John_232 I also had hormonal cystic acne. It cleared when I focused more on the oral treatment rather than topical. P.s. the treatment must be prescribed by your dermatologist.
Patience is the hardest part. I have acne scar discoloration that is literally years old. I wear sunblock religiously and have spent almost $1500 on professional microneedling and have started using tretinoin the past year and they still haven't budged yet. I'm really at a loss for what else to do. It sucks getting a single breakout and knowing the spot will stay with you for literally years later.
Do u have white skin? May I ask I about just post acne redness, not scars. Will redness go away after I m not breakout anymore? ( I’ve finished month 4 of accutane an have cheek post acne now) wanna find out if It will become better just by itself? I m afraid to use any active creams apart from my daily moisturiser cuz skin is sensitive
Same literally sameeee i had one for years at one spot and then another then another they just never fade away idk why i’ve applied everything there was literally but those marks are persistent as fuck
I saw a study done (I think this was shown in a Dr Dray video but honestly can’t remember) where the person did NOTHING else but wear sunscreen for 8 months and all their hyperpigmentation went away. This was because the light was keeping the hyperpigmentation activated and you need to block it so that it can fade. That picture convinced me. I think this was a video on blue light and hyperpigmentation.
you are correct...it was a study of several women and they got good results with sunscreen. Plus many melasma trials have a sunscreen-only "placebo" arm, which shows improvement
@@zawiyar8790 hi, try wearing moisturiser combined with sunscreen.. my doc suggested me episoft ac crea. Moisturizer with spf 30 sunscreen... best for indoors.. as rays will pass through specially through windows
Have you seen the picture of a wise man who drove a truck all his life? He' s got half face that looks 30 years older than the other half. Most inmediately convincing evidence ever😲 🧛🏻♀️🖤
@@zawiyar8790 Lab muffin beauty has a great video on that, I would check it out. Sun-based UV exposure from windows is relative to the size of the window and how far you are from it. Also it matters how strong the UV index is outside. Obviously erring on the side of caution is always good but you may be wasting sunscreen if you aren’t actually getting any UV exposure inside
Patience gets really tough when you try something for months and it doesn’t work so you try something else for months and it doesn’t work and then a whole year goes by of trial and error and it still doesn’t work 😪
I've been quite patient to treat my acne marks. It's been 2 years since the first time i used tretinoin, and i've been using glycolic acid for almost a year now. No results. Mind you, my hyperpigmentation isn't even that bad, but it makes my skin look like a leopard. Chemical peel is the way to go for me now. I hate the hot, tingling and burning sensation it gives me, and i also hate waiting for days for my skin to peel off, but the results are so worth it.
Bro I have the same - u talking about structural bags, not just dark bags right? Cuz I have structural eye bags and they won’t go ways anyhow. I think I’ve done filler once and once I’ve melted them ( maybe there was some effect but I couldn’t tell for a fact). Are these methods legit for help a year at least or surgery is the only good way?
I'd love to get rid of my acne. I have hormonal acne, and I've tried eveey topical, antibiotics (can't take Accutane due to bowel disease). I've cut out dairy, gluten, and sugar. But still have acne on chin 😢
Someone suggested both control pills 🤷♀️ but you still need patience Have you use Tretinoin? Do you wash with 2% salicylic acid or Panoxyl ? Have you tried Azelaic acid 15 % Or 10 % over the counter Paula choice Well depends on which country u r watching from some countries u can get up to 20% without a prescription but some countries you need a prescription for 15/ 20 %
What is the best sunscreen to use when you are fighting acne. I do not want my teenager daughter to use something that would clog her pours and cause more breakouts.
i followed all of your 3 advise, and my ance marks reduced so quickly in 4 months. I did loose patience few times but still sticked to it and it was worth it🖤

Color science powder won't give you sufficient coverage that's to only to reapply your sunscreen over makeup. But they have regular sunscreen also tinted one .. Maybe try the Neutrogena sheerzinc , supergoop , Drunk elephant or la Roche posay Anthelois
yes it is necessary if there is any visible daylight coming in through windows. best sunscreen for acne is mineral spf with zinc oxide! I love the Total Protection No Show by Colorescience: it's spf 50, broad spectrum, non pore clogging and doesn't leave a white cast.
Do you have any recommendations of sunscreen for acne prone skin? I know sunscreen is good to use but I’m always afraid it’s going to make me break out. Thanks!☀️🧴

I wanna know what I’m suppost to do for dry skin with acne. I refuse to use retinol as it’s messed up my skin so bad, and I can’t stop my breakouts because of PCOS. I’m so lost
Hi, I have dry, eczema prone, acne prone skin so I know how you feel. It’s not impossible!! I think the first most important step is to maintain the hydration of your skin- hydrating toners, thick moisturizers, and petrolatum to help with especially dry spots. For the acne, maybe you’re using too harsh of a retinoid or going in too fast with it? I used the Cerave Resurfacing Retinol which is so gentle and hydrating! It actually didn’t cause any irritation for me. However you should still go slow with them. Use it once a week at first and slowly bump it up to twice a week and then to using it every other day. Eventually you’ll be able to use it every day with no irritation. It really takes time, may even take one bottle to start seeing results. I actually was able to bump up to a higher strength retinoid like adapalene. Just go slow, and focus on soothing and hydration at the same time. The key with retinoids is consistency, you don’t have to use it every day to see results. If you want to use another acne-fighting product, try the Cerave salicylic acid cleanser. It’s super gentle even for skin like mine. I just use it once to twice a day on areas where I breakout and are oilier. Now that my acne’s better, I don’t use it as much now!! Lather the cleanser, leave it on for a short while and wash it off. Good luck!! It just takes time and experimenting. Get to know your skin. Don’t lose faith and stay consistent with the retinoid. If someone with eczema like me could do it, so can you! P.S. you should look into seeing a doctor for your PCOS as well. Balancing your hormones out could go a long way, they might prescribe you birth control for that
@@xjaztiin6032 yes, you can so long as your skin tolerates it well. Everyone’s skin is different and for me personally, using both salicylic acid and a retinoid in the same routine is too irritating. So what I do is use salicylic acid in the morning, and the retinoid at night :) Just get to know your skin and see what it likes!
Hello Dr Dray, I am 61 and have acne scars on my cheeks. I'm looking for the best treatment to smooth them down and clear my skin. What would you suggest? I have normal/oily/combination skin. Thank you so much 😊
Azelaic acid, Faded, or 2 % hydroquinone Ambi over the counter can maybe find at Asian hair supply store but use with care can't use for too long 3 months at a time then switch to something else like Faded or Azelaic acid if in North America Paula choice 10 % Azelaic acid or by prescription 15%
😂😂lol I love ❤ your comment But what David le said but you can also use 15 / 20 % Azelaic acid if you can't get it over the counter in your country your doc can write you a prescription. Or try Paula choice 10 % Azelaic acid or Faded along with your moisturizer at nights in the day time u can use niacinamide no higher than 5% !! Under you sunscreen or you can also try bubble day dream under your sunscreen and even at night as well along with # 3 😊
I’m pissed. got rid of ALL my acne. Last summer my skin was flawless. No dark marks, no acne. So dewy and glowy. And then several months ago all of a sudden my jaw, cheeks and around my mouth started breaking out really bad
@Fiebi are you watching from North America , Europe or some other continent??? because 20% and 15% Azelaic acid seems to be only in Europe , Africa, Asia , Australia without precipitation.. Do you get it online ? If you do can you share the website and or which Azelaic acid ? Thanks in advance
@@taniad2873 I'm from Germany, I get a prescription from my dermatologist. I use Skinoren 20%, it saves my skin 🙏 When I travelled to Thailand I could get it without a prescription

@@RedRumble14 I didn't have scarring but red and brownish pigmentations and only used "normal" skincare and no accutaine. As said my saviour was and is Skinoren 20% Azelaic Acid. For me it took ~3-4 weeks until significant less pimples appeared, 6 weeks until I saw improvement with the hyperpigmentation. After like 3-4 months I almost had clear skin 🙏 but only as long as I used Skinoren at least every other day 🙄 whenever I stopped it got worse again. After 9 months I didn't see much hyperpigmentation left, at least compared to the beginning. My morning skincare routine: 1) gentle cleanser, 2) Vitamin C (Geek&Gorgeous❤️), 3) Niacinamide, 4) moisturizer, 5) sunscreen!!! 6) make-up In the evening: 1) PHA+AHA cleanser, Niacinamide, 3) Skinoren 20% Azelaic Acid, 4) moisturizer. Sometimes I swap the azelaic acid for Retinol.
can you help me with some tips ? I had , i still have chicken pox and sadly i have some scars left now on all that once was my perfect face. Please , please help ...! :(((
what about cosmetic procedures that will get rid of them? I’ve been waiting 7 months for my marks to fade. They look better, but I want them really gone!
I think Vitamic C serum will do that. I have been using Vitamin C serum for the past 7-8 months and my marks have faded like 95%. You may research on Tretinoin. It might also help.
@@natnat.b If your acne is already healed and you can afford it, a pro derm' s honest evaluation of your type of scars and the right procedure (if needed) will fix absolutely everything. My 16 years of acne left me a moon surface skin and the only way was laser. It was worth every cent✨ The nightmare is finished. I don' t want a permanent reminder🥺. 🧛🏻♀️🖤
@@RedRumble14 I will not be able to offer any opinion on this as have not used accutane before and never researched on it either. Please confirm if you could use both together through google searches. Thank you.
In high school I had really bad acne but it went away. Except this tiny light brown mark caused by a pimple. I’ve been wearing sunscreen everyday since high school, reapplying minimum 3 times a day. I also got a prescription for differin and have been using that but the mark won’t go away 😭
Because you need something to fade the Marks, like 15 % or 20 % Azelaic acid you can get that with a prescription.. or you can try Paula choice 10% Azelaic acid.. or try Faded but you still need to pack your patience yes it can use with your prescription treatment Because you have to use these products at nights
@@taniad2873man can I use that stuff at the same time as I sue accutaine? I only apply moisturiser now cuz skin is pretty dry without it, but I don’t know can I fight post acne at the same time. Can moisturiser and time help to get rid of post acne?
I’ve finished month 4 of accutaine, still get lost acne redness on my cheeks and jawline left. Can’t do anything in terms of active creams of cosmetic providers cuz skin is sensitive. Will post acne fade in the upcoming 2-3 motnhs? I don’t experience new breakouts so only old stuff is left
What worked for me: Learning that I had hormonal acne Learning that hormonal acne is difficult to treat topically and going on the appropriate birth control pill to prevent it Using salicylic acid and benzoyl peroxide to topically prevent acne using niacinamide to fade acne scarring that had previously occurred (Do not use at the same time as salicylic acid, once I used them at separate times the niacinamide became much more effective!) using sunscreen everyday! Used to always be breaking out, now I rarely break out even during my period week! Patience while letting birth control work and getting into a skin care routine are also absolutely essential!
I had red acne scars for almost 2 years and then I decided to use niacinamide and guess what they disapeared so for me it is 1) sunscreen 2) acne control ( diet skincare ) 3) niacinamide and 4) no make up
I feel like it's breaking me out ... I definitely find LESS IS MORE! So I need a good cleanser, good serums and a good moisturizer. And of course sunscreen, but a good one that doesn't break me out, still allow my skin to absorb vitamin D!
Number 4: be lucky and blessed because your parents can afford procedures and say thank you every morning when you see your perfect skin on the mirror.
@stephanie Spf is a label of measurement therefore spf cannot cause acne, I’m sure you were talking about sunscreen 😂. Sunscreen itself does not cause acne. It may trigger your acne if you are not washing it off correctly, just as any other product might. @jessj2530 Korean chemical filters are nothing to fear, they are way better than the ones here in the US
@@raulponce6660 So sue me for abbreviating. It's obvious what I meant. Chemical filters literally cause an immediate reaction (even on my body) and the irritation leads to acne on my face. thankfully I know how to wash my face but I understand it's easy to assume that everyone online is an idiot these days. Physical filters are better, they don't cause that immediate reaction but I have yet to find one that's not super heavy and can be reapplied without leaving my face a grease slick and/ or a ghost. I was shocked at how many more options are available in the US vs. Canada too I really regretted not buying a tun while I was there.
@@Username0467 I haven't purchased any yet, by the time I pay to get them to Canada they are $$ and I just don't have the cash to risk these days. I'd like to try but I was told that I should use a physical filter vs. chemical as the heat dissipating chemical filters give me a weird reaction. Like an instant sunburn and then my skin breaks out. Zinc oxide filters seem to work the best for me but I do still get a few breakouts when I don't if I don't use that product. And yes I cleanse correctly, despite what Raul here thinks of me lol.
Truth be told, I remember using a skin brightening Dominican cream product years ago when I was left with what appeared as PIH (inevitably had gotten suntanned at the time for a trip 😵💫 I was very young then), and I believe it contained something strong like Hydroquinone (I also have used prescription-strength/albeit outdated 🥴 jojoba oil with Hydroquinone- for overseas’ conditions lol and it would leave me scarring! 🦟Mixed with Jojoba oil & it worked amazingly). These are what worked for me at different times in the past, the thing with the skin brightening product is it worsened my skin After Tremendously (I actually despised how uneven it created a surface & it took years to recuperate from it and most likely exfoliating was what helped even the skin surface again). So those creams are not helpful as expected 😂 - I’m also never in favor of using Hydroquinone on the face. - And simply, jojoba oil then is what leaves us with the possibility of being the only helpful natural oil in all of it (still doesn’t remove scarring in this case). - I’ve read how Azelaic Acid may help. And have seen videos back then about Tamunu oil (unrefined & cold-pressed as key). Not sure if it’s effective for everyone (as it’ll be a very slow process). - Silicone scar gel also slightly improves but not completely if it’s usually for PIE, is what I’ve noticed. 🫠 A mixture of trial & error.*
