you all probably dont give a damn but does someone know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account? I was dumb lost the password. I love any help you can offer me!
Hi! this is the first time I am commenting on a RU-vid video. I just wanted to encourage you to make the decision on a conviction instead of trying to fight a cause because it is your hair and it is your life. I have big chopped twice and I am back to relaxed hair because I want to spend time with my husband and son instead of dealing with my hair in its natural state. I am currently stretching my relaxer, it has been like 9 months because I am pregnant and I decided to play it safe. Whatever your decision I hope that you will not regret it! I know that I love me and I love Jesus and Jesus loves me no matter what my hair looks like. So my hair does not define me.
Annette Flowers There is chemicals is everything. However sodium hydroxide, a key ingredient in relaxers, is used by serial killers to dissolve human bodies(skin meat and bones). Not to mention the carcinogens and fibroids. That have been known to wreck peoples systems repeatedly. Chemicals in food go through rigorous tests, chemicals in relaxers.... not so much. Relaxers are a choice but don't create false equivalencies to justify that choice.
Not trying to justify ones decisions because they choose to (keyword) perm "their" hair. I love my natural hair, but I will not knock anyone who does or doesn't.....just not a major concern of mine.
Some of the people who are judging her relaxed hair are probably the same ones who grew up with relaxers in their hair and only went natural within the last 10 years. They are also on their shea butter, coconut oil and ECO Styler kick but know damn well they used to use that Blue Magic and that black Ampro Style gel.
I love the fact that you can choose what you want to do with your hair. It is your choice and you don't have to be Team natural to be beautiful. Neither do you have to be Team Relaxed to be beautiful. You can't have the word Beautiful without BE YOU!
Your relaxed hair is goals but this natural look is SO PRETTY on you! I was relaxed until I turned 26 and my hair broke off (the way everybody dramatically assumes it does when you're relaxed lol) because i had an allergic reaction to a hair dye and couldn't tell. I was kinda forced to go natural but somehow I embraced that beauty and started to hate that white standard of beauty i clung so tightly to for years. Just you being aware of it makes you more powerful for doing WHATEVER you want to your hair, natural or not. Good luck to you either way!
I'm team whatever makes you happy. I'm a natural hair girl because perms no longer interest me and damaged my scalp. I love my long thick combo b/c hair and it's nice seeing all the alternative styles you all share on RU-vid. Thanks for sharing you look amazing.
I do the exact same thing as u. I have relaxed hair, but wear natural short crochet hair. Love the easy maintenance of relaxed hair. If i want to have natural hair, I do crochet; and if I want relaxed hair, I rock my hair. No need to actually go natural myself.
Your honesty is so refreshing! Really enjoyed this video I was moved to comment for the FIRST time EVER. The simplicity of your video is awesome .I've done the relaxing for years and now I have alopecia, looking back I see how my ignorance to what long term effects of chemically altering your hair can have on your health. I encourage you to keep doing the research! Looking forward to your next video Winsome
I'm team natural, but I don't have a problem with straight hair, Lol as you can see from my profile picture, I wear straight hair too. However, I don't like relaxed hair because of how much chemicals are put on the hair on a consistent basis. I also like how it's easier to grow long hair with natural hair then relaxed. At the end of the day, everyone should do what makes them happy.
I am team , No matter what we do someone will ALWAYS oppose to it......so do what makes you happy PERIOD😊. I am natural now, but I don't waste my time caring what people think about my head😂. Trying to please everyone is a trap that is hard to get out of. I don't get caught up in it
SEUN you are beautiful you have a reason why you relax your hair and it's very healthy and growing . some products on the market we use daily have harsh chemicals which damage our hair weather our hair straight or curly.
Nice video . I have this hair a lot of it I wasn't sure how it would look. I have natural hair but I wear it in extensions mostly. Yes the industry standard is straight hair but we are individuals. I think if you love the convenience of your straight hair, keep it. There were many sacrifices made by those who came before so that we may have freedom of choice. So if you choose to keep your straight hair don't feel guilt over it, do what makes you feel happy.
Miss KTwice Black hair is beautiful no matter if we are natural or relaxed..Being relaxed is just a choice that some of us choose it's up to that individual what they do to there own hair it doesn't make us any less of who we are as a person..♡♡
why are people against relaxed hair all of a sudden. I just think alot of us like to copy what everyone else is doing. a couple years ago, relaxed hair and sew ins was the thing now everyone wanna go natural becausr they see others doing it which is good but ,I just think people need to just do what they like and what's best for them and stop worrying about fitting in with society. If that's the case we all would of just kept afros from the sixties and 70s and never used relaxers but once again Everyone wants to be followers of society which is why everyone was using relaxers. TEAM being yourself, TEAM doing what you like, TEAM having you own mind.....
Maria Doss Nope, most people are trying to be green and live healthier lives. I have been natural since 2004 but I still like a sleek relaxed look every now and then. It's not a fad my hair can't take a relaxer like most black women can't. Your hair grows with a relaxer great but you know good and well most black girls back in the day had that short relaxed snatch back lol. It's not a political statement it's simply that our hair is healthier when our cuticles have not been stripped and weakened.
@Seun, you are natural. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. Unless that long hair in the beginning is a lace glued to your scalp, i'd say you are natural. And your natural hair is beautiful. Relaxed hair is still natural (relaxed) hair. Nothing wrong with it. :)
I am team natural!!! I think our NATURAL texture is beautiful. My hair is like yours. I was relaxed for a very long time but wanted to go natural for years before I actually did it. It was a challenging transition because you have to learn your hair, but o am so glad I did it. I transitioned instead of big chop because my hair was long like yours is now.
I have been feeling and thinking the SAME way about the overly objectified or Norm STANDARDS of beauty...Yea other races where weave and wigs as well but it's not Our TEXTURE it's theirs... That's the difference !!! 👍👍
#TeamRelax and #TeamNatural both beautiful as long as we are caring for our hair . For me I'm relax not because I dislike my natural hair because I don't have time everyday to style my hair and it was good decision to try something new
You are ABSOLUTELY GORGEOUS from the inside and the OUTside as well! This was a fabulous Tutorial and I LOVE the purpose behind your doing this video! Keep On QUEEN! Ase'! Peace and Blessings unto YOU!
Trying something like this with human 12" hair. I actually have always had short hair and work in high heat. I'm trying to keep it in for as long as possible. I've been team natural since right before my 50th bday. I am very happy with my thick hair finally starting to grow and maintain length!
Team natural. Wore my hair relaxed since age 11. Wearing short relaxed pixie cuts for last ten years. Decided to stop “oppressing” my hair as one of my law school classmates once accused me. LOL 😂 spending $400 a month on the shop once a week to keep cut and relaxer tight. Hair starts thinning. Had enough. Found a way to do my own hair. Loving it. Hair is healthy.
Natural hair can he easy. what is easy about straight hair is that you can take care of the health of your hair and being satisfied with its appearance is easier straight hair easily satisfies our desire to look neat and styled. African American hair takes more work for it to look styled while being as least damaging toward it as possible. it doesn't immediately satisfy the eye as straight hair does. but the reason it is satisfying to the African Americans eye is because we were introduced to this kind of hair under generations of oppression straight styled and styled African hair in general became our standard. In reality I don't think anyone should feel pressured to "go natural" cause on the other hand styling your hair and even fucking up a few times is simply fun your hair doesn't have to represent a movement it's just a vanity thing. But definitely don't forget how beautiful your African American hair is when you cut off that relaxer or take down that weave you're the most gorgeous you've ever been :)
I’m team natural I used to be relaxed most of my life but I started transitioning in January 2017 and I big chopped August 2017. I don’t regret it one bit.
What ever makes you feel beautiful short long perm natural Tex. Only you know what's good for you. Being natural doesn't make you no blacker or truer to your self or your culture being you is all that matter. Judging by your smile hon you've already accomplish that
I'm on team relaxed and I agree it's an easier way to mange hair but I'm also confused on if I want my relaxed hair or not I used to have really curly 4c type hair but it was so thick and hard to Mange but I kinda miss it
Hello. You are so pretty. Your choice is your choice for your hair. My story: I once had MBL relaxed hair and now I'm one inch from MBL hair natural. So you may be thinking hard about going natural or staying relaxed right, just like how I was lol. Well I could kick my butt for not going natural sooner because I would have had butt length hair by now. I been natural for two years and one month. The reason why I'm natural is because my relaxer turned on me lol. When relaxed, I played it safe by only leaving on the relaxer for 5 minutes, slathered on Vaseline on previously relaxed hair, stretched, I seriously was careful with Relaxers, but that relaxer "run-off" can still damage. So therefore I had to trim more often which made it harder to reach hair length goals. Like I said two years natural and I have 14" inches of hair on my head all over praise God. Only took two years. Natural hair doesn't need a lot of trimming (which speeds up progress) no more relaxer run-off (speeds up progress). Strong unprocessed hair which hands down speeds up progress. I thought I would never go natural, but I got to thinking "if I'm relaxed, I will have to do this bi-monthly process for the rest of my life? " I know the feeling of having long relaxed hair and I also know the feeling of having long natural hair. Which ever you choose I hope that your hair flourishes. Your are beautiful either way.
I have armpit length relaxed hair and my go to protective styles are cornrows, about same size as she made in this vid. When I take them out and comb out my hair looks exactly like what's in the thumbnail. I thought that's what she was going to do.
Thanks so much young lady you did a great job in your pictorial... I am team girl power whichever and however you want to wear your hair rock it and rock it boldly thanks again ⚓ ✝♏
I love the end result As a stylist i would rather a person be realistic ..... being natural and taking care of natural hair takes love, care and time. i would rather you have relaxed hair something you feel is more accommodating to your everyday routine then try and be natural because others are doing it and you don’t have the time to deal with it and breaks off ppl need to understand that everyone doesn’t have the patience to deal with their natural hair and that’s ok or just want the sleek look and that’s ok too ....your body your choice its good that we can be versatile with our hair your doing great and continue to shine beautifully
Great idea Seun! It will help you to decide if you really want to go natural in the future or not. I hope that more people see that there are so many solutions to just doing a big chop you can even transitions like this. xoxo
I love my natural hair! I do relate to your hesitancy with going natural. Unfortunately, in 2017 Black women still struggle with total sell acceptance. But no worries. You'll make the decision that's best for you. I will say that once I transitioned away from relaxers, I've never regretted that decision. Plus, if I want to rock straight hair I go get it blow-dried. Or I no women who straighten their hair regularly, they just don't use chemicals to alter their texture. Thanks for the helpful tutorial. Will have to try.
*THIS IS EXACTLY HOW I DO MY HAIR*. I just can not stand straight hair. I have tried it, and my face just does not go with it and I can't handle it's "straightness". It's like I love a challenge when it comes to hair. lol. Idk, I just can't carry straight hair. Funny thing is i'm thinking of going back to this after about 4 years. Love it.
Good job. I agree with you, black hair is beautiful. We can change it up however we like it and not be oppressed into going bone straight all the time.
you can transition #teamnatural i big chopped like 3x and im finally growing my hair think and long - i dust and trim and hair a lot to keep even density and thickness of my hair, i do what i feel keeps my hair healthy - hair masques, cremes, leave ins, oil treatment, etc
LOVE it!!! I'm going to have to try this, although I'm going to pay someone to do it for me since I don't have the ability or gift to do my own hair beyond just washing and blow drying and styling it in the most boring way possible.
I love the skin I am in...I love the hair that grows from my scalp. I love the diversity of women teaching on youtube how to manage your choice...thanks for sharing and I love the way your hair came out! You rock!
Freeze, this is a hold up! Give me your hair NOW! #JEALOUS #hairgoals How did you get all that hair? How long has it been growing for? Scratch that, #thethickness. HEALTHY hair!!!! HOW?????
