40 acres NE Ga...no cwd.... woody brouse for 5 yrs... very low deer population and every deer nearby has found my woods.... feeding 18% deer pellets w/5% corn plus seconds apples... every evening... saving them this winter... get woods right first... I was fortunate, strange as it sounds, to have zero deer population to begin with... excellent video

Absolutely always get the natural habitat tuned up first. Second best is food plots then feed. All 3 is king

What do you think about triticale to mix with rye and wheat

I think it’s a great idea. 💡

Black cas oats, rye wheat 100 lbs a acre red clover chicory. Closest thing to 12 mth plot

Absolutely in most cases. I forgot to mention food plots are also supplemental. It all revolves around the timber/natural habitat. Issue is most people are leasing land and can’t cut trees to improve the woods so next best is food plots.

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors well I listen to you. Disagree on wheat vs rye I found deer like grain rye as much and my soil grow rye better. But other than that think u are spot on

@@travissmith-wz5nc well that’s ok lol. Everyone will have a different result. With anything really. That’s why it’s important for people to make there own choices for trail and error purposes.

@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors not sure about this in your area but chicory between mid October to mid November gets slammed?? I read online that it has some anti parasite properties. I started ordering pure chicory and over seeding my clover chicory with just pure chicory. Trying to get half chicory half clover in those areas. Also, have you tried not mowing clover and just 1 or 2 sprays of imox?

@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors 5 месяцев назад
@@travissmith-wz5nc for sure. Clover ans chicory around here usually they stop eating it around mid November or so. Hammer it hard before that. I haven’t tried using just iMox and not mowing you would almost need to mow after a treatment of herbicide. And I’d honestly rather mow then use herbicide anyway. Usually once treated you can maintain with just mowing after that or if you get lucky the deer will keep it mowed for you that’s best case haha.

Why would you do that if it could cause disease to deer in your area
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors
@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors 5 месяцев назад
Because it’s legal.! And no one knows if it causes diseases or not. Until then people can follow the law.
@raypeppel8625

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors you don’t think that if you have a pill and a diseased deer eats from it that it’s going to leave germs for the deer that follow

@@Whitetailobsessionoutdoors it’s not legal in Pa and it seems the numbers of sick deer are not as bad as states where it’s legal. It just seems that if you put a bunch of deer in one pile there’s a possibility of passing diseases

@@raypeppel8625 it is legal in some counties in pa in the off season. Its legal year round in Maryland and cases are lower then pa. So there’s more to it.
