Jeff's ADSB video is a must-watch! As a pilot, I've seen many ADSB setups, but Jeff's detailed and clear explanation truly stands out. His step-by-step guide and practical tips make the process approachable and exciting. The way he explains antenna placement and troubleshooting is invaluable. Jeff's enthusiasm is contagious, and his expertise shines through, making this video an essential resource for any pilot looking to enhance their ADSB setup. Highly recommend!

Awesome video. I use flightradar24 all the time and was reading you get their business plan free if you supply them ABS-D data. Doing this was going to be a near term project. Good video. Also good info on the MLAT data... I would not have know that.

i will say, i tried it out on my windows rig, sadly im in new zealand and onthe south island/west cost. so not many people fly over , butyeah, it is prety oof, but yeah if i had spare low power pilike, rig id send it, and shove it on the top of my hill with a solar panel.

A solar rig would be a great idea, you’ll just need a way to get it connected to the internet to feed unless you are only interested in viewing the data locally and not acting as a feeder.

Jeff, This was a fantastic and extremely valuable video. I've been feeding Flight Radar 24 for nearly a year, but had wanted to also do Flight Aware, for which I've had a userid and password for 13 years. You finally showed me exactly how to accomplish that. Both are now up and running, thanks to you! New Subscriber here now! By the way, is your dog a Griff? (or is Charlie a German Wirehaired Pointer, or Drahthaar, or Cesky Fousek?) I"ve had Griffs, Pesky Fouseks for over 30 years. My current girl is 5. Do you hunt Charlie?

Thank you for the kind words about the video. I’m glad you enjoyed it. Charlie is a Pudelpointer. She is such a sweet girl, but she does not go hunting. She does really enjoy swimming in a lake though.

@@JeffWuerth I had a friend for many years who owned both griffons and pudelpointers. His last dog, when he passed, was a young pudelpointer. He was a staunch bird hunter, and loved all of his dogs like nothing else. They’re all great dogs. Thanks again!

Awesome video, thanks! Quick question though, I've set everything up as you've described in the video, but I cannot seem to get any data to FR24. FlightAware works perfectly, but I cannot see any statistics on the Feeder Page on FlightRadar.

Did you SSH into the PiAware feeder and run the install script for feeding FlightRadar? Did you have a FlightRadar account before entering your email during the installation process on the feeder?

@@JeffWuerth Managed to fix it in the end. Had to leave it running for a day then data started showing up. Took another day until my account was upgraded.

Jeff: Your antenna AND the dongle filter are both set up for 1090 mHz. What about the UAT 978 mHz??? Will that antenna work on the 978?? Will the filter attenuate the 978 signal?? I'm far more interested in general aviation than commercial jet traffic, and want to track UAT traffic. This setup appears to be designed for 1090 mHz. Is that correct??

This particular setup filters out 978. I know there are some dongles that do not have filters, and even with the 1090 antenna you might have luck receiving 978, but I would suggest doing more research before moving forward with that configuration. I do know you can buy a dedicated 978 dongle and get a 978 antenna to go with the system. There are some additional setup procedures to make sure the software knows what dongle is responsible for which frequency range, so keep an eye for that if you do go that route with 2 dongles.
