My citrus trees are loaded up this summer and the kumquats recently bloomed! Want to create your own shady oasis? Check out this video ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZYY0G1R3fko.html 😎

Hi Scott We were in Pakistan last year and my wife’s sister had lemon trees growing in their garden. The scent and taste of these lemons is just amazing. They are called “ Kagzi nimbu” meaning “paper thin skin lemon” The skin is very thin and fragrant and the inside is amazing and juicy. We brought some minimally pickled lemons with us I am not sure those seeds are usable. But I am going to try and plant them in a container. Have you ever planted this variety before . Thanks for all your tips.

I am not familiar with that variety but they sound really special!

I do the 2 sips thing but alittle different. First I water all potted plants one sip with water only. Then I go back around and give all potted plants a sip with my mixed fertilizer, finally when I'm done I go back again to the 1st pot and refertilize in order and give them each their final sip. So it's one sip water then 2 sips fertilizer. I do this in phases to ensure all liquids seep into the soil without running out and I don't have to stand there and wait because I know I'm coming back around to do more rounds.

This information is greatly appreciated. I have been trying to figure out how and when to feed my citrus that I have in containers. I am a newbie at this. Couple of questions if you don’t mind. How big are those terracotta pots? And did you have those trees in that size since you got them or did you increase the pot size as the trees have grown? Your trees are beautiful btw. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you!! Most of my pots are 16" across. Smaller growing and dwarf varieties are happy in that size long term and I've had some in the same pot over a decade. I have a technique for up-potting in the same pot after a few years that has worked well. Some of the larger growing varieties such as the Lisbon lemon, and Key lime have been bumped up to 18". It may be necessary to prune structural roots and top growth to keep them in that size ongoing, but I have yet to try it. So far they're still happy!

Thanks for your abundant information, Scot, this is great. I always water like you suggest with the 2 sip method. My garden is either in elevated ,long ways cut ,55 gallon barrels or in pots, I water close to the plants first on one row then the other then repeat. I do not have the fertilizer that you use, just the granulated mixed in the soil and I have started feeding with " vetted swamp water" from a 25 gallon barrels of garden waste, a small amount of coffee grounds and water

I have a seedling orange tree I'm growing from my orange I had at work. It's currently about 3 inches tall in a 4 inch nursery pot with coco coir and a little bit of worm casting. Since its still very small could I use house plant fertilizer on it?

Scott, I copied your feeding schedule for the last 2 months and my citrus trees look great. Will you change anything as we approach winter?

Great video! I’m looking forward to reviving my lemons, lime and new tangerine. Can you tell me what type of mulch/straw is in your pots? What should I avoid? Also, any advice for scales? I’m North Houston, Texas. Thanks Scott!
@newgardenroad
@newgardenroad 7 месяцев назад
Thanks! I use pine needle mulch, also referred to as pine straw. Chipped or shredded wood mulches can form a dense layer that is difficult for water to penetrate. My advice for scale is to routinely check trees and physically remove them with a soapy rag. This can be a challenge, but it's the best way to minimize the impact on beneficial insects that are predators of scale. Here's a video you can check out ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-8h6_wXwO-Nc.html

Have you ever used Miracle Grow liquid fertilizer? That's what I'm currently using on my Owari and Page mandarins in tubs.

No, I prefer fertilizing with hydrolyzed fish and liquid seaweed 😋✨

@@newgardenroad I've heard a couple of times using organic fertilizer for container plants not necessary? Something about microbes in the soil or what not.

Scott - I've watched all of your citrus videos a couple of times, but keep missing the recommended time to repot citrus trees. Mine are always either fruiting or flowering. What are your thoughts on this?
@newgardenroad

Great question! I do it during active growth March-October (for CTX). Always a tough call when flowering and fruiting, but when done with care they will hold their own

I got some scale on a lemon tree I grew from seed, wondering what direction to go

For small trees physical removal with a rag drenched in an insecticidal soap solution is a good option.

Hi, im a newbie,please correct me if im wrong,u mean i have to fertilise container calamundin once a week? How about young tomato plant?
@newgardenroad
@newgardenroad 6 месяцев назад
Hello! You don't have to do it once a week, you could do it every two weeks, or use a granular fertilizer every six weeks. What's important is that they are fertilized consistently throughout the growing season and observe for their nutritional leaves. The same would go for tomato plants.

If you don't have a local garden center nearby that carries them, you could check out my links below the video description. The Wholly Mackerel and Seaweed Powder are on my Amazon storefront, and I have a link to REV down there as well 🙏🏼
