This winter I’ve put the aerial roots of my huge monstera in a jar of water. Like that I could reduce the watering because I was afraid of pests and root rott in winter. It worked! Now in spring I’ve cut the tips, which were now water roots. Next winter I will repeat this! 💚
I’m so glad you mentioned listening to the plants. If they are pushing out growth fertilize them. They need food if they are growing. If you don’t notice new growth then cut back. Also many other good points that you mentioned. Great video!
For those using liqui dirt, it’s half a cup of your mix per gallon of water. It makes it easier than pouring table spoon after table spoon. It is definitely an investment but each pouch of concentrate can make 1,500 gallons of fertilizer.
oh don't worry, i am pretty sure everyone (including myself) has made that mistake. that's why i wanted to make it as clear as possible. luckily since it's so gentle it doesn't harm the plants if you catch it! i'm not positive but i am pretty sure i saw a video from them that said to use the "mix" straight on your plants but in that video they said to use it only once a month?? i decided to stick to the bag instructions though haha
Hi girl! Love your videos! My question is, I've heard everyone say, "Don't fertilize in winter." Does that mean go by the calendar months? Starting in December? Some of my plants are putting out new growth in late October so when I see new growth, I like to give a little fertilizer. Am I wrong?
Thanks so much, great info. Found your video after reviewing Noot (overpriced) and finding Liqui-dirt. Seems the most organic plus low-waste packaging. Also, might be cheapest per application due to how concentrated it is?
@@GoodandPlanty yes a end of summer plant update is such a good idea. I think this spring/summer I’m going to start journaling about my plants like Charles Darwin 😂
Ahhh this was SO helpful!! 🌼 I need to find a UK equivalent of liqui-dirt! Shipping to the UK is £50! This has given me a really good base to start doing my own research about local fertilisers - thank youuu!! ☀️
Wow, this is crazy... This can‘t be the postage only... I live in Germany and was wondering, if I should ask for a possibility. If I ship a small thing to the USA it‘s 9 Euro postage! That‘s 11 USD. It takes a lot of time via ship, but in case of a powder, that‘s not relevant...
@@peritapugnandi6624 I know right!!! Shipping is $54.86! If you spend over $100 then it’s free delivery... so maybe I’ll just bulk buy one day !!? 🤣 It looks SO good though! And I haven’t seen anything like it here in the UK xx
@@bethanyfreer2154 I just heard about „Liquid Gold Leaf“, a UK product. Seems to be a good alternative! Roos from „Yoga and plants with Roos“ has a new video about it. 💚
You look so good in this video!! Thanks for making something really like user friendly. Lots of youtubers just say, “oh I like this one and this one” and don’t go over NPK. I’m definitely overwhelmed thinking about fertilizing but super excited to get it going, gonna pick up some worm castings soon. I literally work on a horse farm though and makes me wonder how I could go about using all of the horse poop I shovel legit every day. I’d assume I’d have to compost it first which my dad is doing for his big garden. Maybe that will be today’s research for me lmao
Yeah I got horse castings😂 with 12 horses I have more than enough to be able to test something out so I’m definitely going to look into it. Exciting bc I’m a bio loving girl but also intimidating
Off topic from today’s vid, but what are your thoughts on mosquito bits? I had a bit of a fungus gnat outbreak a while ago and when I was researching ways to fix it, mosquito bits kept popping up. (Sorry if you’ve already addressed this in another vid, I just subbed a couple of weeks ago!!)
i've used mosquito bits in the past! i've mixed it into my soil mixture. i think it works a little but you definitely have to also get the sticky traps. the bits will only help with babies so you'll need traps to get the annoying adults.
Hi! Nicole Corner has a super in depth video about fungus gnats and a mosquito bits! She even messaged the company about the product and they messaged her back with exact directions for best use. I would highly suggest checking it out if you’re interested 🙂
Awesome video! I have a question. For that first cap full going into the 1 gallon to create the initial "mix", can that mix be kept and used over time as you take out a little bit at a time to dilute in more water?
Yes! I mixed my gallon a couple months ago and I am halfway through the gallon. I use 2 one gallon water jugs. One with the "mix" and then one mixed with water and ready to use to water my plants. It definitely gets easier as you use it more! I love liquidirt !!!!
i got the big white one from bloomscape! i don't recommend it though, the spout broke on the first one so they sent me a replacement and it's still a bit cracked. they're not well made, but very cute lol
Just subbed to you a few days ago because I became a new plant mama (woohoo!) I was JUST googling fertilizers for indoor plants and saw that you posted 1 minute ago! In sync. Haven’t watched yet but just wanted to thank you in advance ✨
Add me as a new liqui-dirt user! No idea if it's "working" yet, but I'm not gonna stress about individual fertilizers for different plants. There is enough to think about otherwise, so I am hopeful liqui-dirt is enough to keep them growing and healthy🤞Glad I am seeing others relying on this method, thanks!
@@karalynne7616 yes!! i am not a professional grower that needs max results, so i'm super content with taking this easy approach. plant influencers seem to love this stuff so i'm hoping to see results this summer :)
it's a bit confusing because technically liquidirt is "a full nutrition system for plants" and is a plant food but not a fertilizer. therefore, it doesn't have an npk but i use it without a "real" fertilizer. on liquidirt's website they break down the npk of each ingredient but don't have an npk of the bottle (as far as i know). as i said, i am still new to liquidirt so if plant food isn't your style, i recommend espoma!
I remember in your video on hoya care you said you spray orchid spray on them, do you spray all over the plant including on new growth? how often/how much do you spray? thank you for all the helpful information!(:
i do! but i have moved away from that for ease. when i used it, i did spray it all over the plant so that it was fully covered. kept it out of light until it dried. and i did that once every 2 weeks-ish.
