As someone that plays this opening from the black side My personal recommendation for white players is the Shirov Gambit (1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 e5 4.Nf3 Nbd7 5.g5!). This prevents the black player hoping to play the black lion from even attempting to attack along the kingside where instead white is the one attacking. This will deal a large psychological blow to the black player. I myself do not like the true black lion too much where black doesn't castle but even against such players the Shirov Gambit is still very powerful and black will quickly get blown off the board if not properly prepared.

@@MiodragPerunovicOfficial although I'm not a true phildor player either, through engine analysis ive discoverd something about switching up the initial move order makes it alot less susceptible to the kinda holes bobby Fischer uncovered in it against Ruben feinz in 1963 also it allows you to transpose into Sicilian lines depending on whites move order whilst avoiding alapins & smith morra etc, at least it has for me so far anyway but Im not ruling out the possibility of someone making me eat these words one day, 😁 anyway rant done, ♥️Ur Vids, keep em coming Bro🤘🤘

Thks for all the explanations!! But what about at 07:39 if black plays d5 followed by e4 closing the centre? In your opinion white gets advantage if it plays Be2 or Bf1 followed by f3 to open the position?
@negativeiq3843
@negativeiq3843 Год назад
if black plays d5 the engine gives +6.6 for white because white can simply play dxe5. They cant capture whites lightsquared bishop because after white captures their knight, blacks darksquared bishop is pinned and its game over for black. So after white plays dxe5 their knight must retreat to d7 or h7. After that you can actually sac your bishop on d5 and if cxd5, after knightxd5 the engine gives +8.4 for white. You should analyze that line its fun for white

After 1.e4 d6 2.d4 Nf6 3.Nc3 e5 4.Nf3 Nbd7 5.a4 Be7 6.Bc4 c6 7.O-O Qc7 8.Re1 h6 9.h3 g5 10.a5 Nf8 11.d5 (timestamp 13:22) Stockfish responds with: 11 ... a6 (0.92 depth 43) 11 ... Ng6 (1.03 depth 43) 11 ... cxd5 (1.14 depth 43) 11 ... N8d7 (1.27 depth 43) Black Lion players will always pick ...Ng6 over ...N8d7, so only the first three are likely. This video covers ...cxd5 but doesn't cover ...a6 or ...Ng6. ...a6 stops the idea of white playing a6 and defends the queen side, but leaves White more time to defend the king side. ...Ng6 launches the typical Black Lion kingside attack, with white continuing his queenside attack. At each move both players need to decide wheth to defend or move their attack forward until the opponent has to defend or someone wins the race. I like ...a6 but try playing some games with each.

Hi Mio, what do you think of Nge2 setups vs. the Philidor? Against 1. e4 I play the Vienna and Bishop's Opening (got your course!), so I only face the Philidor through the 1.. d6 move order, which gives some flexibility with the development of the g1 knight. In turn, that allows White to play f3 or f4 and expand aggressively on the kingside. I'd love to hear your thoughts.

@@BeFourCM Cool! I'm actually looking into the Nf6 Vienna with an early d4, seems like a good surprise weapon. Mamedyarov has used it to decent success. I do know Mio's variations are great, the Black Lion is definitely bust but I find normal Philidor players are usually comfortable in their slightly worse positions, so I want to take them out of familiarity. stop giving away my analysis, mio!!! I don't normally just give my analysis to random people on yt, but mio deserves it, so a4-a5 as white just makes black's position hopeless in most positions. They go c6 or a6, you go a5. The kingside pawn storm shouldn't be fast enough.
