pure wendy main, started because abi is very helpful if i might be lagging and the worst happens. my playstyle is very safe and careful, so abi is quite helpful to me.
Wendy is what some would call "Low skill floor, high skill ceiling" or "Easy to learn, hard to master." Abby trivialising day to day combat and acting as a disengage tool makes her very forgiving and convenient to new players, but managing her in boss fights and knowing what potions to use and when (rather than just defaulting to healing potions) makes her fairly complex if your not relying on teammates to handle harder fights for you. Good news is if you *can* manage her, she is stronger than the average character in those fights too. Other things important to Wendy is knowing how to manage her real downside. It's not dealing 25% less damage in combat, because good Abby management lets you turn her damage down into a damage up, but that she *sucks* at traditional nightmare fuel farming, because shadows are one of the few mobs Abby doesn't help with and they take ages to kill without a beefalo. The best way to farm fuel as Wendy in my experience is to go to the Village biome and murder Shadow Monkey hordes, which is dangerous if you don't know what your doing (finding the wilds, dealing with worms, the horde and managing Abby's hp) but again turns her downside (awful fuel farming) into an upside, she becomes amazing at farming fuel/morsels/bananas/beard hair with this trick. The best part about Wendy is like Maxwell and Wanda, she doesn't have downside's if you play her well and know the tricks to get around them.
@@ciranopunalesvigliarolo3788 my guess is - soothe, speed up potion, more kiting? will not work on all the bosses, obviosly. possibly rile her up and place her behind the boss and tank the boss, the damage is high enough to just rush it
I farm nightmare fuel by decreasing her sanity to the point where rabbits become beardlings but not low enough for shadow creatures to spawn. Then i just agro abigail and she hunts them down while i shovel them up
@@ciranopunalesvigliarolo3788 It's pretty easy for the most part because you have Wolfgang-like damage so the fights don't usually last very long. You can fully tank deerclops and all Abby needs is 1 healing potion (if you are on a war beefalo). The other more dangerous raid bosses have their own quirks and kiting patterns. Versus the twins for example you will want to put them to sleep as usual and start on Retz. Don't give abby speed pots or anything just simply kite OPPOSITE her direction and she will slowly catch up to you two eventually to jump in on an attacking round. Same thing vs Nightmare were pig. A lot of raid and seasonal bosses target you over abby and you just have to keep them aggroed. Funnily enough moosegoose is relatively hard to fight because she seems to always target abby xD. But again, nothing one healing pot won't fix.
This is well put. It's funny because spawn in and Abby can't even take on one tallbird. Even at her full health she can't. But with some skill and the right strat you are solo-ing bee queen, AFW, and fights like twins and shadow pieces become trivial. Such a cool mechanic.
If you're considering a part 2 here's some topics I'd love to see covered: - Which bosses can be kited without much chance of them hitting abigail (and conversely which you should tank for this reason) - How to keep abi alive with aoe damage enemies such as deerclopse. (Or whether it's even worth having her out in these fights)
All of this is just fine and dandy except for the Klaus fight. I'm it's possible, but Abigail has to have surgical precision to keep the gem deer alive until the end, especially with all those jump attacks.
Be very careful which bosses your bring Abby into. Generally if they have an AOE its not worth the effort of keeping her alive. On single target bosses keep Abby soothed and she will be much less likely to take agro away from you and get hit while you are kiting. Also besides varglets, Abby can actually solo 2x the normal amount of hounds in a late game wave even at day.
Found this really helpful I might give Wendy a good try but one question how do you craft the items for the potions and which ones are good to stock up on and farm for specifically
@@dumbvillage9253 I know, but my point is that it isn't that hard to sit down and read a little about the updates, hell, why not watch a video about them?
@@wariogarlicreal32 my guy, I am pretty sure op knows how to kill deerclops on his own and just wanted to try using abi only. Deerclops is a well known and easy to kill hold f at a campfire boss
Wendy is just op asf, I honestly think a small stats decrease like less hp or hunger should fix this shit p. s. as wendy you don't lose hp since abigail does most of the fighting for you. Hunger isn't a problem as well since you can just farm spider or frogs for easy food. And sanity is a joke as well, since wendy has less sanity drain compared to other characters
Problem exists for other characters tho Willow: bernie tanks for her, can easily dispatch large amounts of mobs. Maxwell: Shadow cage and shadow duelists, so his hp isn't a problem and can farm mobs as well. Hp becomes even less of a problem with night armor, 95% damage reduction with no penalties. All you need to do is farm rabbits with shadow sneak for nightmare fuel. Also shadow workers. Webber: Spider wars for food. Two nurse spiders at chester for health, you can also tank shadows while the two nurses heal you so sanity isn't a problem Also the tent and siesta exist so any character that can gather food can easily restore health and sanity. So all the above, as well as, Woodie with the moose, Wickerbottom for a lot of obvious reasons, wormwood with bramble husk, and Wolfgang with his insane damage. Hunts also exist for characters with more of a single target approach. Wendy is better at survivability than all of these, even if not by much, but they do all make up for it by being better in other aspects. Most of them at bosses, and Wickerbottom and Wormwood at gathering resources.
I was going into this video thinking it would be able to help me stop hating on wendy players so much. Now i gotta say, my already high respect for wolfgang players has increased ten-fold.
I usually get it before winter myself. Kill every butterfly you see and keep Abby in aggro mode when near flowers (also make sure your beefalo is bonded to the bell so she doesn't attack it if you dismount)! And be sure to immediately save them in a fridge to slow spoilage time.
for some reason my Abigail never fights turning side by side like that. She always just stays still and turns red when attacking. Does anyone know why?
Yeah... so your idea is tanking the hit for Abigail? What about bosses that have a lot of AOE and will switch target very quickly mid fight? Like Deerclop's normal attack is a big AOE that even hit Abigail from behind, and Moosegoose will always change target as soon as Abigail touch her. And these kind of bosses are A LOT, there is no way you can keep Abigail alive without a bunch of potions, and if at that point, invest in more helmet and kite the bosses like other characters would a better option.
Wendy is just noob bait. The fact that you can use Abigail as a *replacement* for kiting in most cases makes new players never learn how to kite. (The exact same applies to Walter too.) Yes, the rework added the vexed debuff to Abigail's attacks, and you can use a beefalo to counter the -25% damage; but the vast majority of Wendy players either don't know this or ignore this. Aggro management is even worse in multiplayer, especially if you are a client; so it's not always an option. Btw, most water mobs can't attack Abigail, so Wendy is also good for farming cookie cutter shells, gnarwail horns, barnacles, and the spiders in the fig biome.
My friend, it's about the time You have to learn about subjective opinion. It's up to You to believe if this game is good for You or not, but it's up to me to believe if the game is good for me. But I'm still interested in what exactly causes such disgust and hate towards the game.
For me for enemy boss like deerp clop/Ant Lion/ Goose I mostly use boost damage for abigal then tank for her to kill them as quickly as possible so abigal won't die *note: ant Lion cannot attack abigal you can just afk and let abigal to attack Ant Lion :P but it quickly if you fight with her but if you scare of him just let her do the job for ya For Goose always stand in front of abigal so the goose will target you instead of abigal to deal maximum damage without abigal talking hit *note you can use boost speed to kill the baby goose :P then slap the mother later for bigger boss I mostly using sleep boost for abigal so she can retreat fast so the boss still target you when abigal in their range when you dodge boss attack that all my fighting experience with wendy and abigal :D maybe there will be more in future for me to share about the Buff I mostly use speed and boost damage the healing one iz kidda useless for me unless in a long fight she will need a break for healing ( like bee queen now after they patch ) for the shield Buff use it when enemy have mutiple atk like the baby moose if there are 17 of them but have 1 mother it will make your life more easier :P The thing you may not know iz that you can use healing items like spider gland to heal abigal so you can save the healing Buff for the bigger boss fight
Haven't anyone of you found wendy kinda op? Like she has 25% slower sanity drain, and pays for that with 25% less damage. She also has a ghost sister, who is incredebly strong aganist crouds, wrecking tier 3 spider dens and even taking hound waves with little to no help, and for this advantadge she pays off with... nothing. I've been thinking a lot about it lately and have come to a conclusion that some kind of a little stat nerf would be just perfect, preferably hunger going from 150 to 125 of smth like that. This change would make it a bit harder for players to manage her hunger, thus making the skill cap a bit higher, and balancing out the ghost advantadge without really changing too much. p.s. it even makes sense, smaller people tend to have smaller stormach. Like her examination quote for portable crock pot says: "For when hunger gnaws at my tiny stomach" or smth like that i don't really remember p.s.s i really just wrote a fricking whole ass essay, english is not even my native language💀
