I love that logically you wanted to have the alien stall keepers in the shade (as they are under canopies), but in the end you made them bright for readability and focus.
Good catch! 😅 Yeah I tend to prioritize readability even if it "breaks the rules" on realistic lighting, at least for a piece like this that's highly stylized to begin with
I liked your whole explanation during the Imagining the Space & Creative Narrative section. It reminded me of that part from Inception where Cobb tells Ariadne that sometimes your design feels like it's creating itself so it feels more like you're discovering than creating. "Genuine inspiration" ✨
Hey Brandon! Congratulations on 1 year of RU-vid! Your videos inspired me to sidestep into becoming a part-time game artist for retro pixel-art games. It's my living now and your channel has been with me every step of the way. Cheers to the next year and 100k Subs!
Hey man, great video. Really appreciate your happy disposition and fun, creative animations. Keep up the good work and glad to see you posting! Have a great weekend!
Seeing this is very inspiring. I had just found this and watched it for some idea how to construct better scenes. I didn't think it was going to lead to an idle animation. With the help of your tutorials on the Clip Studio Paint channel, I had constructed one of my characters, a space girl, two years ago and began editing her pixel art for an idle animation using three poses. What I did for mine was give her arms a sense of movement by stretching them in the in-betweens to give a sense of movement. I think it works. I'm currently messing with a second space girl. Similar idle animation, but I'm experimenting with a few more poses to create a hair bounce.
those two gummy based characters look familiar hmmmmmmm... (in all seriousness though another great job i find it tough to make background and environmental works and this gives me a pretty great picture and reference to go about it great well edited and explained video as always)
Amigo, eres INCREIBLE!!!, tus dibujos son simplemente arte, me divierte verte aunque seas ingles, sigue asi!! y en mi sincera opinion mereces almenos 2M de subs!
Hey! Your videos are great! I am a game developer and something I struggle with is making modular pixel art components/assets to be able to fill a scene or to be able to use as set pieces that I can duplicate and move around in other scenes. In some cases I'll even write programs to generate a scene using a library of objects and components. Was wondering if you could make a video on how to make single re-usable pixel art assets for games? Thanks!
Hey Brandon, great video as always! I was wondering if you could do an analysis of Stardew Valley? I just get so inspired when looking at the game and its beautiful color palette!
Maybe Heart and Star work together. Heart sells fruits and Star offers to make juice for you...if you bring your own fruits (which he'll tell you to get from Heart) lol
Do you think you can create a hyper MegaMan sprite if you don’t know who hyper MegaMan is he’s from marvel versus Capcom him a clash between heroes it’s MegaMan hyper combo to where he combines with rush beat and the red count to become hyper MegaMan could you create more sprites for him like action sprites
Around 3:40 you make the right side of the cable a bit better by making the edges flow over more, but you didn't do that for the left side. Is there any reason behind this?
I was really just eyeballing it, but if I had to guess it's probably because the left side crosses over the bordering of the building, so it picks up thickness from that overlap already
You walk up to Heart and decide to talk Heart: hey there would you like some heartstar, you look like you would like it You buy one, you find it delicious Health restored I keep telling my brother Star for us to unite our shops but he just dosen’t like to share his money, but you should check him out he sells juice You go to the second shop Star: hey I’m star want a some Juice premium quality You ask why the juice is so special Star: umm well ermm, it is homemade, now do you want juice or not You buy some, Speed +1 You go upstairs you find two familiar figures playing chess You walk up to one thinking about his next move He ignores you The other one is sleeping with a bottle of soda you don’t wake him up
3:00: If you're going to grow fruit in a city like that, rooftops are probably the biggest flat spaces you're going to find outside of public parks. 6:00: Oh, Shel and Fizz are a lot easier to recognize when they're colored!
