Hobbies for UPSC aspirants: See the video to understand how to deal with the dilemmas while filling the Mains form. What hobbies you could/should mention and what are some hobbies which may be avoidable for the Personality test at UPSC Dholpur House? The DAF form asks you if you have participated in extra curricular activities, interests (hobbies; ruchiyan aur abhiruchiyan).
Many IAS aspirants are worried how they should differentiate between a hobby and an interest? One could have an interest in so many things (like photography, driving etc.) but those for which I am able to find more time should be my hobby… Interest vo hai jo hum samay milne par karte hain, aur hobby vo hai jiske liye hum samay nikalte hain. Dr. Vikas says that you should fill hobbies for sure and do not leave the column blank. Dr. Vikas gives examples of many hobbies (and many aspirants) including a story where a person’s hobby related to snakes. He says that the UPSC board is attracted to something new in the form as all their questions get exhausted in first some days of interview; so their strategy is that candidates should give them some lead by talking. You can totally use this aspect of interview to better your interview preparation. In the end, the video also give a list of various hobbies and the benefits and dangers associated with them.
