i have two 30 liter kegs , i pushed in the rubber to let the air out . now the pressure is out , i,m drilling holes al ouround the center piece to get it complete out. I,m gona use it to make moonshine. i take a piece of wood and hammer it in the hole then dril a hole in it that fits the copper pipe that colekts the alcohol gas .
I ended up depressing gas out and puncturing keg with a bricked hammer sharp bit then drilled hole bigger n. hammered a wooden grommet in it worked a treat grommet comes out with pliers doesn't leak
why not just get the connector from the bar and de-gas the keg then fill it through the top? that's how bar staff pour back into kegs! simple.it is also a one way valve so no water loss when filled and totally safe. stop risking serious injury when the job can be done 100% safe? Grundy connectors available on e-bay or your local barman will lend you one!
My best friend just got 30 stitches in his face and could have bled to death if no one was there to help him from not degassing the keg properly before removing the spear . To make it worse he runs nitrogen (beer gas) which is much a higher PSI. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE bleed off all pressure before removing the spear. I have done it many times and it can be done safely.
There's a warning on the side Bob. Should your friend be messing around with pressurized tanks? If someone else was there to help him sort his face out they should have advised him to leave it alone. I have a friends like yours and I wouldn't even trust them with a hammer
