Extra tip I forgot to mention: Make sure to use some sort of diffusion like lamp shades, cloth or transparent paper to make the light a little softer.

Hey Janio, I really appreciate how creative you get with such simple things... one bulb, a nearly empty room, and a mirror. Great examples, and beautiful lighting! I find that I have a hard time filming something when I don't know what the "full story" is going to be about, but your little vignettes are great examples of just making something to test it out. Well done!

I don't mind the picture frame/blanket/pillows taken out of the frame to decrease distraction in this particular case because it almost looks like the character just moved in or recently moved in to this dwelling and, therefore, is causing him some emotional distress or pining about a past relationship that is no longer in his life in this new space. Basically, it adds to the story. And story is always of most concern in visual storytelling.

Ayee that short was good! I dig the minimal equipment used and how you really show the detail in the bts.

I think I prefer the second one because the message still comes across perfectly! But the audience gets to pick what the character is thinking (which means that they will use their own experiences to relate to the character, making the scene a bit more personal). The last shot could also include a dolly out, to emphasize the character's isolation! Just some random thoughts. Loved the video! Thanks for inspiring me to create more.

JANIO!! YOUR CHANNEL IS FIRING. I am so glad to see the progress! Congrats Man! Also I was wondering how did you get that intro? Exposure and settings and are you using any filters? I have a a6400 could you help me achieve that AMAZING intro
@Janio.
@Janio. 2 года назад
Thanks for your kind words ! I didn't use any filters and tried to keep everything as simple as possible. Exposure around +1.3 filming in S-log 2. And I used a small softbox to get enough light on my face.

Another cool video :) Just a short note: It is not that Slog 2 isn't generally suitable for low light. It is more the camera you are using is not able to give satisfying results in low light conditions using this picture profile. This is due to lower bith depth and overall lower bitrate the camara records in. When using one of the newer Sony cameras with 10bit, you won't have any issues even recording in Slog 3 in extreme low light scenarios. I have used an a6300/6500 for a long time on commercial projects and I HATED Slog 2 even in daylight sometimes. Especially with mixed color temperatures you often get weird hue shifts in parts of the image... However, when using the Phantom Luts for the conversion to rec. 709 the results are actually pretty mindblowing for an entry level camera like this!
@Janio.
@Janio. 2 года назад
Totally true, thanks for pointing that out ! Really thinking about buying a new camera just to get 10 Bit.

@@Janio. if you are not going to use it on commercial projects, I would suggest BMPCC4K. You can pick up one of those for a fraction of what an FX3 oder A7S iii costs and you can use Blackmagic RAW 12 bit… would be perfect for the cinematic videos that you create.

For the memory flashback scenes, did you get the sound effects with the stock footage, or were they sourced from somewhere else?
@Janio.
@Janio. 2 года назад
I always add custom soundeffects. Most of them are either recorded by myself or from around the internet.
