Adreed. I have been just doing my Android phone. Galaxy S10 e. It actually has a pretty good video editor surprisingly. Or I use the default one available on Windows. Called video editor. I definitely need to learn some better tools though.

i’m referencing this 4 year old video to start my journey of filming hunts…thankyou so much for your insight…i have a A1 and going to shoot with my 70-200 and the gopro ontop of the camera just helped me out so much. I was going to purchase a 24-105 sony f4 so i could have versatile shots having wide and zoom for kill shots but don’t want to drop 1200 dollars and want to utilize my 70-200. I was about to take my 16-35 and shoot the shooter talking in the blind then change when the deer come out but it’s WAY to much to worry about. You helped all of my worries

I see this is part 1 and it's awesome but is there a part 2? I'd love someone to come out with a video describing different lenses used in videoing hunts and what each of those lenses give you at bow hunting distances. Absolutely NO ONE has anything like that even actual pure photography pages. Everyone just says this is for close up and this is for longer shots but no one puts that into yardages with an example or comparison. Love your videos man and this was awesome! I just got my very first cam which is a really good deal on a Sony a7ii With a kit lens (fe 3.5-5.6 28-70mm) and I'm trying to learn everything I can why hunting 😅😂 it definitely is more complicated but it's been fun

When I first started filming hunts, I began thinking of what mount I would use. I think the mount is more important than the camera, in some cases. Get a good mount, and you can really start to produce solid video.

I went to b&h and bought a refurbished camera. $350 camera for $150. I went that route, because it’s my 1st year trying to video my hunts. Plus I figured it may get banged around, and what not. Also if I some how trash it. I’m not out a lot of money. Lol Refurbished might help some people obtain a more expensive camera for cheaper. Awesome video! Can’t wait for more!

Hi, great video! And what a great idea to stick a GoPro on top off your camera! Only question is for the audio? You still capture the song from your camera and mix it on the editing?

I need that cold shoe rail and some cube lights, that is a great little setup for DSLR users and really keeps the weight down. I thought about going full SmallRig cage for GH5 but this would be a far easier solution.

So true , I shot a mule deer buck at 80 yrds last year. I had my camera , and didn't hit record. It was such an amazing shot and I was so bummed. The deer ran maybe 20 yrds. He had no chance. I gave my friend the option to shoot him . He said he didn't have that shot . I practice probably 5 to 600 arrows aweek now but last year it was 5 to 600 arrows a day. So yes pressing record, is #1!!!

Great information with this video. I have a Sony a7Rii but so noisy - would you mind sharing the camera settings you are using (even though you have the iii)? iso, shutter, ect. I know they change according to light but maybe daylight settings...especially the picture profiles. Do you do all manual exposure or anything auto? Thanks again!

Can I ask what f stop the lens on your main rig is? Is it an f/2.8... those long lenses with fixed f stops are huge and need their own tripods lol, at least for the Canons. Yours doesn’t look too ridiculously big. Asking because I have a DSLR rig and want to start doing some hunting vids.

You probably know this but I imagine most folks here might not. I'm sure now you run a newer mirrorless camera but for filming 4k video a bigger sensor like the one in that a7R is worse than the 12MP sensor in an older A7s2. Video and Photography are far different even through the camera does both. More MP's equals a noisy image when you boost the ISO for when most folks are doing the killing. 4k resolution only needs an 8MP sensor which is why the more video based mirrorless Sonys run a 12MP sensor. But like you said, you get into a pile of money when you get into mirrorless cameras. I just want to be sure people are buying the best for what they need. If you're printing a photo that's 3-4ft for a client or your home yes you need a bigger MP sensor but for video and social media photography, get the smaller MP sensor camera for low light performance in video.

@brianballard1986
@brianballard1986 4 года назад
I have the Sony 70-200 f 2.8 on a A7III body. On the A7IIi you have a mode where you can shoot in crop mode, turning the 70-200 lens into a 105-300 f2.8 You don't lose hardly any quality either. The 70-300 lens is a variable f stop lens which kind of a pain sometimes.
