Thank you for such simple and precise information. I've been using your 'line'em up, turn their edges up, and look for the copper' (hopefully the lack of 😋), since you initially released your video. Came back for a review because I saw some 'Ikes' and Kennedys on Ebay stating they were 40% silver, but the years seemed off. Of course they didn't show the edges, which I suppose is normal (?).At any rate, I decided not to chance a bid. I've already got Plenty of 'clads' of these coins scattered here & there, all over the house. 😁

Things have sure changed in the premium department in the last year. Now junk silver is the 2nd highest premium, second only to silver eagles.

Lol no wonder my local coin shop was pushing % junk silver. I walked into my 1st coin shop and told them I was pretty new to the hobby. They sold me two 40% silver half dollars for $3.50 each. The spot price as of market close today was $19.10. I'm guessing I got taken to value town, but the nostalgia of the half dollars hit because that's what the "tooth fairy" used to leave under my pillow as a kid. What is the maximum you would pay for 40% silver? Is there a rule of thumb? Like only +$0.25 over spot? Thanks.

Nice vid. Was hoping you'd drop them for resonance tests. Do you think we'll ever get one ounce zinc-gold half dollars?

If it’s truly a 71 40% it’s very rare I would get it checked

Doubtful. Weigh the coin, do a specific gravity test, you'll find that it's '40% silver clad'. Even the 1964 and prior U.S. coinage was not 'pure silver', it was .900 fine (90% silver, 10% copper).
