This is a very useful video that can help so many people, dating apps can sometimes be very toxic and it’s nice to go out there and meet others in person and connect that way!

Lots of good ideas in here, thank you Ocean! I live in the states in a small town, so some things are a bit harder to do. I've been with my current boyfriend for almost 19 years now, and for as much as we have been together, after I transitioned, he's lost interest (which I don't blame him for at all of course). I want to be alone for a while before going back out there to look for someone, and it's scary for sure! I'm also older, disabled and some things aren't as "do-able" for me any more. I've found a few LGBTQ groups here in my town, and that's been really wonderful! Even just having friends that understand and share stories with has been a huge uplift for the whole group including myself! Glad to have found your channel as well 🫶👍☺

Aww I’m really sorry to hear this! I wonder if there are any online or local groups for queer disabled folks, there may be more resources they can share with you and have ideas for accessible events happening near you!

@@Ocean_Grove Not many accessible options for my type of disability + queer, I know the 5 people in my town that are, and they're all at least 10-20 years younger. I'm learning a whole bunch of stuff like tiktok, snapchat, Instagram... Yeah, I've been under a rock lol! What I have is more of a chronic pain thing and mental stuff. Even trying to get to the group that meets once a month between all my appointments with my lack of spoons is an issue. My Dr thinks I might have long covid on top of the autoimmune stuff, but we're still trying to figure that out. I'm a member of quite a few groups that meet online, and I try to sign up for them as well if there's any that align with my appointment schedule. There's many great people online that are like me, but you're all over in the UK lol 🤔☺ (Not all, but it just feels like it sometimes 😁)

haven’t finished the video yet but i am SO grateful that i saw this on my feed!!! (i’ve been subscribed for a long time but i’m saying i’m glad you made this video :D) because every time i hop back on dating apps i feel so heavy with the weight of having to entertain so many people in desperation to make a connection and find my future life partner….and that’s A LOT on a person!!! i’m eager to learn how to organically make connections that serve me better than swiping on an app for hours on end. i always thought i was destined to end up with my person in a sort of organic way anyway, not saying that to put more pressure on the situation but tbh when dating apps started being the only (seemingly) reliable way to date in our culture it was super discouraging :(

Oh I totally feel this! I kind of think dating apps are just made to make you keep coming back to it? So maybe they’re not as helpful in meeting likeminded people as we actually think. I hope you can find more connections!!
