How to find Raxxla - My thoughts | Elite Dangerous Lore

It would be so cool if Raxxla is a Dyson Sphere, using a White Hole inside of it as a source of power! That could also enable it to create many different wormholes to reach other stars, galaxies and so forth 👌🌌

I have a sneaky feeling that IF Raxxla is ever found, it will be found by the Canonn Research group like all of the other special interest items that have ever been discovered in game.

It's so obvious why Raxxla has not been found yet... Not because of the absolute crazy size of our galaxy, but because you need QUADRUPLE-ELITE to be able to find it. FDev knew that CQC would be the best protection they could ever come up with! ;)

Yep, I generally agree with your conclusion. If the 'Dark Wheel' faction missions don't really lead you there, and FDev holds to the 'no clues' stance, then I feel it'll be sheer dumb luck if Raxxla is ever discovered at all.

I think it should be on a system with a non scoopable star. We always selects a path of stars we can get fuel on, and we scan those systems and ignore the rest of the stars, so I think its close to the bubble or even inside, on this type of system.

Its on a planet with an atmosphere, and only approachable on foot.

Maybe it is hidden in a permit locked system wich is going to be unlocked for you when you trigger something. like scanning some unique beacon or so. And i dont think it is on a moon or Planet beacause raxxla is in game since launch. This means you can find it without horizons.

I'm glad that you mentioned the idea of FDev possibly sending out an NDA, as well as the idea of maybe needing triple Elite. Those are both things I've considered myself. Lets just pray that their "where" isn't something silly like "It's in your heart: The sense of wonder, the fun you had, and the bonds you've made with others while on the journey." *rolls eyes*

The key to Raxxla in my Eyes is by learning as much as we can about the Man behind Elite - David Braben himself, it is possibly a metaphor connected to a historical event maybe in his life or experiences, maybe Ian Bell as well. The mind boggles at all the possibilites.

I had something really strange happen while I was looking for it. A mission objective just popped up around a planet where I thought it would be. Followed the objective and all I found was a black box. After picking it up a faction contacted me (not the dark wheel) and wanted me to do a follow up mission. I didn't think much of it, just seemed like the same old bull, but I didn't initiate the mission so I will go back and see how far the rabbit hole goes. Time to wipe the dust off my corvette. I think the dark wheel wouldn't really call themselves that, that would be too obvious. I'll try to initiate the mission again and get close to the faction that offered me the mission. The mission objective was like when you are bounty hunting and then a blue mission objective comes up. I haven't played elite for a while. Was it just a new mission system they invented while I was gone?

1) I think Raxxla or the Dark Wheel cannot be found by sheer luck / coincidence. So it's not just a planet or station "hidden" in system 3672058259 somewhere in the galaxy. 2) I think the Dark Wheel is either inside or near the bubble and you have to do something very specific to find it. 3) FDev basically said they would give no (out of game) clues about Raxxla, but that does not mean that in the game there are no clues already hidden. Big candidate are the names of planets and stations. Some are very oddly chosen when you look into it. I just stumbled upon a HUGE kind of implication given by two station names. If true it would be more than genious. I'm just not sure where to go or look or how to look from the point right now. 4) I don't think anyone has found either the Dark Wheel or Raxxla to this point. I don't think the NDA idea would really work. 5) The Dark Wheel and the Pilot's federation seem to go hand in hand, given by a tourist beacon (#250 Pilots Federation's Influence) in Shinrarta Dezhra: it basically says the Dark Wheel is a sub-faction of the Pilot's Federation. 6) The Dark Wheel and Raxxla may or may not be connected in ED. It could be that they are two separate things. If they are connected you may only find Raxxla if you find the Dark Wheel first and if they aren't and the lore rumors are true then the real Dark Wheel "lost" Raxxla hundred years ago (because of a war against the alien race there) and are desperately trying to find it again themselves. Either way the efforts should go to finding The Dark Wheel base of operation and not Raxxla, since the latter must be far better hidden. So I suspect either the Dark Wheel station really IS hidden somewhere in Shinrarta Dezhra (you need Elite status to go there ... easiest way) or at least the journey to that Dark Wheel starts there. And I suspect the station is cloaked somehow. Hidden from normal scanners (which is basically what the Codex says). It can only be found if you know exactely how and where.

I honestly think Raxxla is going to be found by mistake.

Codex is a point system, best of the best might mean you have to complete the codex entire, this would be a journey we all have to take. Permit unlocked by dark wheel. If we can find raxxla without the dark wheel, it's obviously a black hole. Might even allow us to travel from black hole to black hole regardless of jump range

I thought the same thing: that reminds me a game I used to play a lot, which is some sort of variation to the standard Hide and Seek. One person hides and everibody start seeking him. Those who find that person hide with him instead of giving away his hiding.

Thing is... FDev claimed Raxxla is in the game since the release. Landing on planets came with horizons. So it should be something in space. Many people over the years came to "conclusion" that Raxxla is not in the game or atleast not discoverable (permit, whatever).

With your video on finding original systems still in elite, i think you can narrow the search for raxxla. 1) Jason ryder found evidence for the real existence of raxxla. He came back from deep space to get a proper team together. ( I think he found that evidence in the maia system) 2) Elyssia told Alex that raxxla was in another galaxy; you know the legends. ( The 1984 elite has 8 galactic charts, out of the original systems still in elite dangerous there are only four galactic charts with those systems in the charts, Alex and almost all original systems are in chart 1. Aten- chart 6. Rain- chart 8. Atius- charts 2 and 3, (don't know why) hope this helps the search. I'll be triple elite when I get back to the bubble and kill a few more scouts, then I'll follow up on my theory on raxxla.

Raxxla, if you want to know what it is there us a system just over 1, 000 light years away from Sol that is so vast it'll take you a very long time ( and i mean long ! ) to travel to the the next star over and around that star is one planet and on that planet you'll find something that'll start you down the rabbit hole. If you were to look at the galaxy from the side which it would be spinning clockwise then from Sol if you imagine the galactic core as 12 O'clock you'd need to head 2 O,clock this is all i'm saying. maybe you'll join us few or maybe you'll fly on by

Raxxla.... With FDevs record for over hype, bug riddled patches, broken missions and grindy game play I have every expectation of it being nothing more than an embarrassing fudge. Remember The Gnosis anyone?

Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't awhile back Fdev said the system raxxla is in has been discovered but not raxxla itself. So at least we know it won't be in a undiscovered system. My guess that was back before the FSS and you could just honk the system and move on. So somebody just jumped in, honked and left and little did he/she know they almost found raxxla. Was raxxla a "thing" before or after horizons? If after it would be on a planet I'm guessing, so a good start would to be to map every landable planet that has been discovered but not yet mapped.

2159- tau ceti is colonized Ship board mechanic based out of tau ceti states "Why dont we go find Raxxla while we're at it!" Raxxla was being used as a placeholder for something considered to be a myth or rumor.

I think it is near the bubble and close to sol, but because it might play some part in future content, it is in some dormant phase were it can't or is very hard to be found or identified.

Curiously, while the game has been live for some time, there're still a dozen undiscovered systems inside the bubble... Maybe it's one of those brown dwarf systems with 111 bodies most people can't wait to get out of... Maybe it's SO CLOSE to other systems, your Plotter would never consider adding it to your route... And maybe some people have already found it... Maybe it doesn't have anything to do with permit locks and ranks. Maybe it just have to do with the thing most people step over when in Elite, to pay attention... Lots of people may have already flown into Raxxla's system a thousand times by now and It's not over some distant barren moon orbiting a planet 1,000,000Ls away... Maybe, you just have to pay attention and a little bit of luck... Wait for the planets and stars to align while you're at in a specific position... Lets consider... What if upon docking, they offer you membership if you agreed to delete your Cartography Data? If they let you be a part of something bigger than random text-generators fetch quests if you comply to their secretiveness... Maybe they would tell you they would have to move if another 5 commanders find them until next Thursday, which would be unlikely... Maybe they teach you to only go there when no one's looking... Maybe you would become part of their keepers... Gathering with another dozen commanders in a binary uninteresting system once a month, all silently waiting for the planets to align so you can get there... Ending the mystery by revealing it to anyone would just as much destroy the total awe of finding it yourself by just stumbling on its strangeness... Or maybe they have already reached out for you, but you just can't put the dots together... Fly dangerously, commanders... Into the void.

There is an Asteroid Base 2/3 the way to Eta Carina Nebula. I found it 2 years ago and have recently got back to the Bubble. I saw the Name on the Asteroid and remember thinking That name seems familiar. The Asteroid Station is now known in the Galaxy Codex about 12,000 ly from the bubble. I am not100% certain but the name on the station had xxla on the end. I cannot swear it was Raxxla but is it to close to be Coincidence. It is the only station in an Asteroid Field within 3,000 ly or so. I am a King and Admiral.

If they made it an astroid base in a astroid field with no signal with the other factors like moons, etc. With a compromised nav beacon. That would be hard to find.

I suppose that canonically there might or should be some rank requirement - or at least, some status requirement - to finding it, but that should only really apply if finding it comes via a tip-off from the Dark Wheel (or whatever splinter faction of them) - if it's just lying around waiting to be found it would be mean to gate it behind a rank requirement. As for the *Children* of Raxxla - well, apply at Serebrov. ;). -Jackie S.

There are also many permit-locked areas, planets, and systems all over the Galaxy. It could easily be behind any of those that have no way to access them yet.

I believe that whatever it is the mechanics is in the game. I believe the NDA + rank clearing is the thing. Like in CQC, you will reach a certain level (3 elite or something else) at witch point, and after actions are performed, you are invited to the DW inner circle (or smth similar). You will then be presented with the opportunity to restart rank 0 and by recovering to 3 elite you will be opening the permit for Raxxla region and be able of grind your way there until you find it.

My theory is it's a planet with something planetside (rock formation etc) spelling out RAXXLA if you fly close enough to it. The planet itself would only have a generic name and no POI's i.e. nothing that would cause the average explorer to investigate further Explains how the system could also have been visited yet the ruins themselves not found........ seems as plausible as any other theory out there atm

I bet it'll be something absurd and sappy, like Raxxla is the spirit of adventure in each pilot.

I'm not yet ready in game to search for Raxxla but here are my thoughts. 1. I have heard or read somewhere that Frontier has said that the system Raxxla is in has already been visited, but they didn't find it. (Confirm?) a. If true, This means that at the point that they stated this we could reduce the search to the discovered systems at that time. I am not sure if that historical data is available, but someone should have or should as soon as they can extract the list of visited systems. This reduces the potential search by 99.xxx% b. Wherever Frontier said this, the words that they stated should be parsed carefully as there may be an indication of why it wasn't discovered depending on how they worded it. Are the players in the right place, but didn't meet the correct requirements, or were they simply oblivious to it sitting near them. 2. At this point reduction of Raxxla search needs to be conducted very broadly as described in the previous point. Whatever Frontier has stated or information that has been provided in game needs to be used to compile large lists of potential systems and further reduced and reduced with any new likely 100% credible information. If we first reduce it to visited systems, the next potential step is the question of whether there is required to be a certain planet in a certain position relative to the system, etc. Datamining the systems with increasing filters cranking down the list is the only viable option.

Ive not played Elite Dangerous, I did however play the original Elite back in the 1980's, and I do love a good mystery! Taking just the toast, following the clues in it, and using online resources. I find that I can identify a series of stars (in the bubble) that match the toast and the sequence ends on a system which has a gas giant with 8 moons. This makes me wonder if they have it behind a sequence, meaning that you have to be elite, jump through the systems in order, and then in the last system scan the moons to activate it. (Something that did happen in the 1980's version. Meaning there were some missions that required visiting specific systems in order.) Just a thought.

I heard somewhere that Raxxla is somewhere within 2,000 Light Years from Sol.

I just started ED a month or so ago and I've been obsessed ever since. The lore is awesome and the game itself is so fulfilling. I honestly don't play anything else anymore. That said, I really don't see Raxxla being found unless it is by some happy accident. I believe Pilot talked to someone at Frontier and they said someone actually was in the system where Raxxla is. But he just honked the system and bounced out. I think that could be true. I always scan every system I'm in because I'm a curious dude and I enjoy it. But that is probably going to be how it's found. Pure chance.

My feeling is that it is right under our very nose and you pass it every time you hyperjump (it is a gateway after all). Now which keycombination during hyperjump will reveal it?

With most other elite mysteries, like those around listening posts, time is usually relevant (eg you have to listen at a certain time) and if Raxxla is a place that’s not a place, but has a location, that could mean it moves and therefor doesn’t have a single position in 4D space time, but a position in time and a variable position in space. The number one problem that imo needs to be the first thing we have to come to a consensus on, is what are we looking for.

Didn’t one of the devs say “we don’t want to make it TOO obvious” ??? So my guess is once you know, it will be like, “OF COURSE!”... I think they’ve given us a lot of clues. Has anyone actually read the “Stella” poem? I have tried and keep falling asleep trying to look for clues in it hahaha

even with the new FSS scanner ability "raxxla" as a location/station/settlement still will only appear on your left panel when you are physically close enough to the site. looking at the game and all the raxxla video's floating about this place is still not found. enough players are looking for it, but the hints and clues that we have are not enough for us to find it.

Love the content. Would love to see you do a whole series of Raxxla hunting streams that are 1 part trying some avenue of potential discovery mixed with one part general chat about the goings on in Elite. It could be a fun way to "stretch" for content while we await the many many things we hope are coming in the second half of the year. : )

Crazy thought but they could hide it by only being discover-able in open play there by bypassing a huge number of players?

Could be near a star that is so distant that only the very best and optimal equipped ship with a jet-boost can reach it.

@Astro, your theory is analogous to my own, in fact I did a litmus test on the official forums writing that I did indeed find Raxxla among others who who had preceded me, and that I would reveal the Info, Fdev mods deleted and banned me. I do believe it has already been found and that those who have were made to sign NDA's.

The real raxxla is the friends we've made along the way.

my ides on finding raxxla since frontier did say that people have been there is that it may not be a planet or system called raxxla but rather a place on a planet or moon and if it hasn't been found it could be that its for a future DLC like the carrier ships or space legs or if they ad the ability to land on planets with atmospheres and find it that way

I remember hearing a commander, can’t remember their name, say they say Raxila in their left panel but at the time they had no idea that it was a place people were looking for. Of course they couldn’t remember what system it was in either. Who knows it could have been someone just trying to get attention. I agree it is probably hidden in plain sight. And I’m sure there are still plenty of systems in the bubble itself that have not been explored or had their planets mapped. I know I have run across at least two just this year.

Maybe it all depends on numerous factors like being triple Elite AND having a hidden counter tracking Thargoid kills or something? If you go to the in game CODEX -> KNOWLEDGE BASE -> THE DARK WHEEL, you can read this - " According to the lore, only a handful of the bravest and most competent pilots of each generation are honoured with an invitation to join the group. It is futile to attempt to contact the Dark Wheel on one's own initiative, however - it is always they who initiate contact, initially in disguise, revealing their true identity only once a suitable test of courage and skill has been discreetly administered, and passed" also further in the article is this - " The station was toroid, hence 'wheel', and operated with minimal power so as to avoid detection, hence 'dark'. This certainly suggests you will only get an invite from them once certain requirements are met and only once you have this invitation will you be able to detect (have it show up on the system map) the 'Dark Wheel' station. So even if anyone has already been to the system The Dark Wheel is in, it wouldn't have shown up because no one has been invited yet. If this is the case i wonder what the requirements could be?

I think it is much simpler than that, it is probably a permit locked system and you need all 4 elite ranks to gain access.

very interesting video, the idea of triggering events with triple elite is neat to think about. It would be slightly funny and also aggravating if it was in a starter system which is permit locked after the commander passes the first rank, maybe a ps4 user could find it under another psn account though

From the information and my thoughts on Raxxla: Raxxla is in another galaxy, and we should be looking for the gateway in our galaxy, I would suggest ppl read 'homer's odyssey' and check out Greek Myths about 'Elysium Fields' - I believe you'll need all three Elites and you may be tested - also check out 'Sirius' in Greek Myths ... I will not give more information that I have managed to puzzle together, as soon as my life allows I'll gather further information Ohhh and 'Phenix' o7 commanders

I've still been wondering for a long time now if the Alien World and Dark Wheel Novella do have clues. Both are non-canon but what does canon mean when alternate realities and time travel are in the picture? They could hold what I like to call nods and allegorical pointers. The Oisir-Raxxla in the Alien World lived on a planet that was on a 1000 year orbit, for only brief periods was this planet able to flourish with life whilst the rest of the time it was barren. Does this mean Raxxla is an alien species in Elite? No. Could this orbital concept play some kind of role in the mystery? Possibly. So much points to Raxxla being close by in plain sight but somehow no one is able to find it, what if it is right there but is only right there some times and not others, under certain conditions and not others? 1000 year orbit wouldn't work for us, but going along that general idea path, what else could they do in that vein that would be similar in concept?

Is fascinating lore. As in CODEX I do believe must be in the game and discoverable. And I think would benefit Devs and players if they said 'yes is in middle of nowhere but you might find it' would encourage players to venture past that 5000 ly engineering grind. Time will tell

I can't help but think (as a novice explorer with a DBX but waaaaay too busy doing silver runs before I leave the Bubble) considering everyone makes their way to Colonia eventually and traffic seems to shift that way....has anyone gone in the opposite direction?

I think it's hidden in plain sight. Why is the Sol system permit locked, for example? Has anyone checked the Oort Cloud recently? IRL we know of something with mass messing with it, perhaps that's where it is?

Triple elite thing could well be part of it. Imo it would be a good way to limit who can find it. Doubt frontier would risk giving that info out to someone random nda or not. Especially now since it is something in lore that is sought after. I am triple elite and just back from a trip into the black. Didn't find anything btw😂

When I first started playing I was randomly far out of the bubble honking and jumping. Didn’t know anything about the game. Jumped into a system and got a weird pop up on the bottom of the screen that I didn’t read and immediately dismissed. Pretty sure it said something about a faction wanting me to go do something I remember the word raxxla because I started seeing the word on forum all the time. At the time I thought the pop up was normal, and thought it was the reason people talk about raxxla. I have no clue where I was, and nothing even like that has happened again

Following my earlier comment. I think its more likely to be in a system containing a Thargoid or Guardian site, but far away from the main site that everyone is visiting.

*head cannon/idea* It's within 1,000 Ly of the starting system/pilot's federation locked area. You have to be in the Sidewinder you started with. And you cannot have docked anywhere outside of the beginning zone before finding it........wouldn't that be a big 'ol kick in the junk.

I searched the net the other day after watching the video about raxxla possibly being in the original game systems which are in elite dangerous. One thing that I did see was that it's meant to be this big myth like Altantis, el dorado etc but Atlantis has basically been found not underwater like what was originally thought but in a desert of Africa. Could we actually be looking for this the wrong way as maybe raxxla is actually ruins or even possibly could be a large undiscovered guardian city as after all we don't fully know what happened to them other than a civil war with their AI.

After everything I have read and found, in game, books, and from Fdev, my money is on a very, very predictable, disappointing, and generally shit answer. In a few years, after the last update/patch/whatever, when Fdev are done (maybe even after the NEXT game if they make a second ED), there will be an AMA, and somebody will ask something like, "Now that its over, and nobody ever found it, could you PLEASE tell your fan base what Raxxla was? Please?" The lead writer/dev/some asshat will take the mic, smirk as if he is about to drop some great and sacred wisdom on the masses, and say, "Raxxla is just the friends you made along the way." or, "It is a Guardian term for the feeling of being alone in a universe full of other thinking minds", or some other similar, 'it was never what you thought hahahaha we are so smrt' answer like that. I don't WANT to expect that, I want to think that somewhere in these 4B randomly generation systems full of rocky icy bodies, there is a golden city of wonder and answers, or at least ONE fucking answer... but I have read and written enough pulp scifi to smell a fake-meaningful cop-out coming, and guys... Raxxla isn't in the game, or if it is, we need to start thinking about what things we have already all found that a self important writer could call raxxla to feel smart.

My two pence's worth: The raxxla symbol lines up near perfectly with the top down view of a Thargoid barnacle. Also...Obsidian is Black, Wheels are round, like an Orbital Path...Dark Wheel = Obsidian Orbital? Does Prof. Palin have links to The Dark Wheel?

Would a datamine through the game's files come up with something? Not exactly the best way to find it (or the most immersive) but you know, It's just a thought.

Today I found 12 unmapped planets within 300LY of Sol after making a wrong trurn, as a new player this has blown my mind to how many places are still undiscovered. Time to get searching. I like to think it's somewhere in our own solar system in the abyss. Also - What song is playing in the background?

I love this video but you make the wrong assumption that all systems near the bubble have been mapped. If you look carefuly, many systems have been partially mapped (because of the missing fss before) so if you double check that while exploring, you will see that you honk more planets than the ones on the system map ;) Had discovered myself new bodies less than 500 ly from sol

At the current rate of exploration, it will take 150,000 earth years before the entire galaxy is explored. We need to come to the likely conclusion that this Raxxla will never be found.

I believe right now as of 5-4-19 we fight good thargoids and that they shut down stations to hide from the thargoid warlike gods

Maybe it's in sol and it's what we in rl call planet 9 since ED timeline is like 1k years ahead of now it's possible they found it and it was not a planet but was instead raxxla whatever that may be

Was thinking it might be worth searching asteroid belt clusters. They have been in the game since the beginning and would be an easy place to hide something for FD in the early game development. Also who ever bothers looking at them, pays zero exploration credits, useless for mining compared to rings so what is the point of even having them in the game? Seriously, how often does anybody drop into one of these? Not sure what to look for though? Beacons came later so not likely that, perhaps an unusual looking rock, maybe a ship that needs to be scanned. My thought was that this may involve multiple clues, find one that leads to another. Typically that is what FD has done with other things in the game so who knows? Anyhow still searching...
