How to find shells is a question I get a lot. In the summer, the winds change the the shells tend to hide a bit, so going in the water to find them is a very good idea. I wanted to try snorkeling and I brought my trusty sand flea scoop, so Captiva was the first stop and just across a small bridge is Sanibel, so I decided to try my luck over there too.
I will show you 3 different methods I used to find shells. Answering the question, how to find shells isn't always as straightforward as it may seem. Tides, winds, location and water conditions all play a factor.
I hope you learn a little and have a better idea how to scoop in order to find shells.
