I was starting to think this wouldn't work, but I decided to see it through until I tried every possible combination. Low and behold, it worked! I found this method so much easier than all the others that had you pulling on the shackle and feeling for resistance. I was so far off on all of those and never would have figured out the combination. Thanks for figuring out a method that was actually easy, even if it was a bit more time consuming.
I have had a lock kicking around the house for 4 years because I forgot the combination. I decided to try this so I could actually use it, and it worked fantastic! I had it open in less than 10 tries. Saved me a few dollars! Great video.
Had an ex's lock stuck on my bed for like 5 years now. Sure I could have cut it off, but it never really bothered me. Randomly came across this video and figured I'd give it a try. Skeptical as hell, I followed step by step and much to my surprise, it actually worked! It was a cheap off brand, not a master lock, and the only number it "stuck" on in step 1 was 8, so I assumed that was the last number and continued as mentioned. Made my list of numbers and started trying. Worst case scenario it would have took 100 tries (or not work at all), but you can imagine how surprised I was when it popped on my 6th try, 0-22-8. Cool shit man, and now I can finally throw this lock through my ex's window!
Nice lesson learned. I have three gym locks with forgotten codes. I cracked all three in about 2 hours. It makes you smile when you open them. Thanks for the tip.
If you have the built in locker ones those are even quicker to figure out. Locks are just a false sense of security. Even high security lock if picked by a professional can be done in a matter of minutes.
Love you man. I hadn't used my lock in over a year. Forgot the combo and lost the piece of paper it was printed on. Did exactly as you said got the combo back on the 5th try. Thank you for the helpful video! Also saved me a trip to the store and $6 on a new lock, hahaha.
Very well done. Thanks! Too many RU-vidrs ramble on about unrelated crap, or simply ramble on unnecessarily. You do an outstanding job of getting right to the point and teaching this topic. You have a skill & approach I very much appreciate. And the music's a great choice to listen to in the background while you're demonstrating other examples.
The combination which always works for me is 8,5,1,25,20. 8 grams of C4 take 5 seconds to put on a lock and 1 gram of primary explosive attached to a 25 cm fuse will detonate the C4 in 20 seconds.
What's with all of these comments? For me personally I forgot the combination to an old lock that I had. So after doing the steps in this video I quickly remembered it. Very Helpful
I had a lock stuck on an old gym bag that I didn't want to cut off. I played the tensioning game depicted on other videos. I saw yours and played along. When it opened I definitely had a smile on my face, then went off scanning the shop for more derelict locks. Well done!!!
Thank you for this. I have my middle school master lock and I had long since forgotten the combination, and had to buy a new combo lock. With this method, and a bit of patience, I was able to get my combination back. Thanks!
Since you're dividing by 4, the possible fractional remainders are these, shown with their decimal equivalents, and corresponding "whole number remainders": 0/4 = .00 -> 0 1/4 = .25 -> 1 2/4 = .50 -> 2 3/4 = .75 -> 3 Hope this helps!
If you don't clear the lock you can do a whole set with just 1 turn. I can go through all possible combinations in just over 1 minute. What I mean is, after the last number is entered, immediate go the opposite direction and stop at the next number on the list, then back to the last number, repeat.
you explained the process very clearly - this is great to know because you always have these combo locks laying around in drawers and around the house or garage with long forgotten combinations - so thx!
I watched lots of videos and couldn't get my Master Luck open until I arrived at this video. Even though it looked complicated, this worked good. The critical part is really the first part when the last number is found. Everything else is pretty much straightforward. Very well done, Adrien752, your video did a great job explaining and showing other examples to clarify the procedure.
Just tried this because I found my old lock from high school and it worked! I needed the lock for the gym and I didn't wanna buy a new one and it took me about 10 minutes to find the combo! Thank you!
I've held on to a lock for years in hopes of getting the combination one day and being able to use it. Today is that day. And I got the combo in only 18 tries while watching tv. I see a lot of comments saying to cut it, but I intend on using mine. It hasn't been locking anything, therefore, no reason to cut it. Thanks for the vid.
Thanks +Adrien752, that was brilliant! I had an old master combo lock & I impressed the hell out of my wife. I _acted_ like I was listening to the tumblers and started writing down all the numbers. My wife was really interested in the whole process so I started rambling off all kinds of bullshit theories I made up. After lots of hocus pocus bullshit I picked out 3 numbers from the lists (using another *_total bullshit_* theoretical law named Adrien's 767th law of primoidial numerical vortex) After a few minutes of babbling nonexistent theorms I opened it on the first try. The combination was on a piece of tape on the back, I didn't notice it until I had finished "listening to the tumblers" If I turn up dead, you'll know why :--) and why no jury would ever convict her for it either.
I had one lock which I couldn't open. Your method worked. I shortened the list by trying first the numbers I picked in my previous trials/ different methods. Thanks
omg it works!, beats having to mail in a format and get notarized for the company to send u the combination 4 to 8 business weeks. I did it and now I can use my lock tomorrow at gym yay! Thank u
This lock took me 45 minutes to crack (counting the time it took to watch the video and learn it). Process of elimination took me to the 9th number in the first round and the 5th number in the second round. I highly recommend watching and learning so you can save some funds from buying a new lock. I needed this old lock from high school for my work gym and wasn't gonna toss this one and burn cash on another one. Thanks for the video!
Mathematical solutions to obstacles are interesting. Of course, it takes all angles (brain or brawn) to find the best method to do any task. The music wouldn't bother me so much if I didn't have the volume up all the way (just to hear the guy talk)... then get a blast of decibels during the frosty pine-tree text scenes.
Sweet- it worked! I shortened the process by using some other methods found on RU-vid to guess the first number, so that plus this method got me down to 10 possible combos, and the 5th one opened it. I found this nearly new lock on the ground, so now I have a free lock. And to those who say you can just jack the lock open with a shim or a hammer, that isn't the point (not always, anyway). I now have a useable lock WITH the combo. Thanks!
This still works better for me than other videos that pull & feel tension to figure out every number. Felt like equal tension most every 4 numbers. Cracked another one!
I looked at a lot of videos. I found this one and the lock was the same as mine (by appearance - the white 'Master' in the center of the dial, etc.). Went through the steps meticulously and - viola! - it worked. Thanks very much for a well-composed video with clear instructions.
RU-vid comments are the worst. Good job on figuring out the math on the mechanisms here. It's really impressive. How many of us have leftover locks here or there that would be useful if we could remember the combos? Well now you can figure it out because this guy took the time to teach us. Bolt cutters won't give you that, so show some gratitude, people, geez.
This dude seriously needs an educational show where he teaches math to kids (and stupid adults) by showing how math is useful in real life. (before some mafia group pays him massive amounts of money to hack locks for them) It was great. He used all the annoying math terms we learned in school, but showed how you can use them in a real life situation, and showed it wasn't all that hard as long as you were patient.
Thank you for sharing, I admire your patience and your reasoning. I have about three of this locks but as soon as I see them again I'm going to throw them in the garbage. Gracias.
Ok,,like another person commenting on here, I am up at 3am figuring out the combo to a lock I had on a locker for 20+years and could only remember 2 numbers! My lock only started with only 4 even numbers not 5, and my remainder was 0. But after i done your numeric format and seen the number I came up with out of the 2 columns,, I figured out the reason I couldn't remember the third number was because it was the same as the first!! I only had two numbers,, duh,, ! But,, it was your mathematical process that led me to me figuring that back out!!! All the other,,'slightly pull it and turn' videos didn't work for me at all! Soooo,, Thank you!!!!
You've seen storage wars on TV right? How do they open any lock regardless of hardening.... The grinder wheel. I think this vid is totally bogus to see how many shucks will actually try this.
or you can bypass the lock and make a shim cutting a soda can lay it flat and there you have something that can open as locks as you want in seconds i'm sure you know that. i like your method because when your bored you that's a good way to pass some time
The comments about the math being too difficult are just sad. I learned all the math required to do this by 3rd grade. It is honestly kind of scary to me how many people think 3rd grade math is hard.
+DTR RTD If someone is looking to steal stuff they aren't going to take the time to do this when they can use a hammer or bolt cutter. This is just an assumption but most people looking to do this are probably trying to figure out the combo to one of their own locks or a friend's lock that they can't remember and they want to continue using the lock. A thief doesn't care about reusing the lock.
tyfs....i got about a half dozen of these where the combo has been long fogotten. if u have patience this can save money by not having to buy a new lock.
Well, I have one of these locks and I found this video because my wife forgot the combo. I was going to order some shims and maybe even some lock picking tools but remembered I still would have to figure out the combo if I didn't want to just throw it in the trash. I was VERY skeptical about this procedure as I watched this video 3 times before deciding I would do it even if it was a prank! I did the procedure and tried all 100 combos and it didn't work. Dangit... But wait, I watched the video 1 last time and realized I was doing the combos completely wrong by starting at 0 each time and going the wrong direction. After only 30 combos it opened up and I drank 2 adult beverages to celebrate! LOL Thanks soo much for sharing this information.
it amazes me how many haters there always are talkn shit about sum video of sumpn cool happening. talkn shit just cuz their jealous. excellent bro, but I gotta know the story of what was going on to make you even think of doing this. 2 thumbs up an peace out
There is a simpler way! Instead of pulling the hook from the base; compress the hook to the base. As you turn the dial you will feel certain stops differ from others like a valley write those numbers. Next, you need to determine the dialing direction for each number and its sequence Have fun helping your friends who forgot their combination. Please, be helpful not criminal.
I've no idea if this is plausible as I've yet to try it, BUT I'm going to like and subscribe solely on the basis of your having played an awesome Chili Peppers tune as your intro and theme. Great job!
Good theory. There are other ways also. The way you feel the tumblers click in the beginning also work for the remainder of them also, with practice, it works in 3 minutes. I used to do it in high school. Was pretty good at it back then. Good job!
Response to Trollers: 1) Bolt cutters work faster. They do? Wow I should look up a bolt cutting video, good call. If you posted something to this end, please go hurt yourself assuming you havent already in an attempt to tie your shoes. Cutting bolts its not only instant evidence if youre doing something criminal, it also is a huge red flag to the owner that someones tampered with their property (and also destroys a otherwise perfectly good lock). 2) Adrian cool video but definitely bad call on having your music 50 decibels louder than your mic, and yes the "U shaped thing" is indeed called a shackle. 3) Excellent call by eric in noting you can cut your time by over 30% by not clearing lock when entering your numbers. Until spun a full three times, the third cam will stay in its set position. 4) Great option for someone who come across a 3 cam combo lock that doenst have a wedge tang construction. Higher quality locks are designed with close tolerance tangs that you cant fit a shim through, and even if so often have very high AOA's that make it extremely hard even if you can fit one in. 5) Go Science!
Awesome video. I'm going to download this video for all future combo-locks I forget the combination too. I can't wait to try this out myself.. Good Job..!
Noah Wallace Yep, putting in the wrong combination 49 times is way cooler. Tell all your friends to gather around and watch you crack a lock. Then whip out your notebook, calculate your list of 100 combos and try them one by one. See how many of your friends are still interested by the time you find the right combination. Here is a hint, they'll think "Oh failed, look failed again, failed yet again, and again, and again. What a loser..."
i found one of them locks in my drawers and could not remember the combination. i could probably remember the combination on my old school locks but i could not find them. just this master lock with no code memory what so ever... thank you for the tutorial, it worked!
Ha we went back in time if its 2009! Wait, that would mean this video doesnt exist! AAAAHHHHHHHH WTF IS THIS AAAHHHHH!!! (ʏᴇs, ɪ ᴋɴᴏᴡ ɪᴛ ᴡᴀs ᴀ ᴊᴏᴋᴇ) (ʙɪᴛᴄʜ)
