Rise and run are just names given to the numbers that are up or down the fraction. If the straight line is going from left to right ( upwards ) then the slope will be positive ( as shown in the video, in the first example ) while if the straight line is going from left to right ( downwards ) then the slope will be negative ( as shown in the video, in the second example ). When you rise you either go up or down, but when you run, you go left or right. Hope this helps!

Hi I always watching all of your videos and help me a lot, Though, this one caught my attention, about rise and run for slope, the blue and green graph you started the points exactly on Y-Intercept or y-axis or B points to check the rise, however on red graph you started on x axis for rise.. I believe in red graph slope is m-2/-3 , look the given example of yours on blue graph the B points or y intercept on positive same on your red graph … the rise should be down.. Can you enlighten me on this. Thank you!

5:40 I don’t really get this part could someone explain please? ^^ I don’t understand why we multiply everything by 3 (or 1) and then they cancel out, and also the whole +2x and -2x :,)
@-Lityx.sl-
@-Lityx.sl- 5 месяцев назад
I think he multiplied everything by 3 so he could get rid of the 3 ( in 2/3 ) because since both 3 will cancel each other, and he wants to get rid of the fraction, he multiplied it by 3 so basically, what happened is : 3 ( 2/3x ) (2x) And only 2x is left
@-Lityx.sl-
@-Lityx.sl- 5 месяцев назад
If you want more details about how the 3 got cancelled, try to think about it like this : 3(2/1×3) Since both 1 and everything inside the parentheses are multiplied by the same number ( 3 ), Both 3 get cancelled just like when you have 15/3, if you want to simplify this fraction, you do this : 3×5/3×1 = 5/1
@-Lityx.sl-
@-Lityx.sl- 5 месяцев назад
Oh and, about the +2x and -2x thing, lemme take examples to explain it, so let's say that we have these : 3x = 15 And 4x - 2 = 6 Now we need to find the value of x, okay? So to find the value of x in the first example, we are gonna do a little magic trick! We are gonna take the 3 to the other side, basically what will happen is this : X = 15÷3 Now you're gonna ask me " where does the multiplication come from? And why isn't the 3 a negative? " Easy! 3x = 3 × x right? So since we have a multiplication, if we take it to the other side it will become its opposite! In other words a fraction! So, our equation is now : X = 15/3 X = 5 Now onto the second example : 4x -2 = 6 We are going to do the same magic trick! But slightly differently, so, first we are gonna take the ( -2 ) to the other side 4x = 6 + 2 " oh? The minus two is now positive! How so? " I think you already have your little idea about it, but still, allow me to explain it, since the 2 is a negative 2 ( -2 ) when we'll take to the other side, it will become its opposite! Just like what we did earlier with our previous example, so the minus/negative ( - ) will become plus/positive ( + ) and our -2 is now +2 So, our equation is now this : 4x = 6 + 2 4x = 8 X = 8/4 X = 2 And voilà! Hope this helps!^^
@-Lityx.sl-
@-Lityx.sl- 5 месяцев назад
Note that this only works if you have an equal ( = ) sign! Just like shown in the examples! This is a rule that works only when you have " xy - b = a " or something like that, if you don't have any ( = ) sign then it does *not* work, and this rule is thus not applied
@-Lityx.sl-
@-Lityx.sl- 5 месяцев назад
Everything is then multiplied by ( -1 ) to make the ( -2x ) positive, since ( - ) × ( - ) = ( + ), We multiplied it by negative *one* because when anything is multiplied by one it remains the very same number ( 2 × 1 = 2, etcetera ), note that multiplying it by ( -1 ) is optional, he did it to make it easier, is all
